I’ve watched a ton of westie pet grooming videos and your video is the best I’ve watched. It’s full of really great tips for grooming a westie and general grooming tips such as lifting the other foot to force weight onto the foot you’re trying to trim. My dog dances around through the entire trim and it can be very frustrating. I can’t wait to try this tip. I noticed this dogs coat is pretty straight and fluffy which makes scissoring so much easier. How did you get his coat to be straight and fluffy and no static? I also looked at your links for scissors and didn’t seen one for the curved thinners you’re using. Where can I get those? The links for Chris Christensen scissors only shows curved straight edge sheers and straight thinning shears. The other link for non aggressive thinning sheers is for straight thinning shears also. The curved type would make grooming my westie so much easier. Thanks so much for sharing this video.
Thank you so much, glad you found some helpful information from the video. Tyler here is prepped before his trim with a quality shampoo and conditioner, the conditioner really helps keep the static away, but you can always mist with a scissoring spray or a conditioning spray to help keep static away. Keep the spritz very light, as we don't trim with a wet coat, only a clean coat. He's also blown dry completely before the trim, which also helps straighten any of the hair that might curl. As for the scissors, the curve thinners are from Affrodable Grooming Shears. Here's a link www.affordablegroomingshears.com/product/curved-mako-65t/ He will be having his black friday sale soon, so you'll even be able to catch them at a slightly discounted price, but you'll need to be quick. Wow this was sooooo helpful as I'm no professional but have been grooming my Westie for many years. You Tube University! This is great and boy have I been messing up the legs forever. Yeeesh. Two things: I don't see any face/head work here. Is it somewhere else? And I have Andis clippers and have always used the 3 3/4 for his body and the 10 for his anal area, on his foot pads and the tips of his ears. Your body clip looks shorter or as you say, tighter. Do you know what blades I should be using? Is the 3 3/4 correct??? HELP!!!!
She has another video on doing the westie head :) she said she uses a 10mm guard comb on body. Not sure what you mean by 3 3/4, but really the length you want on your dog is all up to your preference and amount of work you're willing to put in
