You were right. It certainly is… unique. Like, it’s insanely raspy, like a straight piped VQ. But past about 5k RPM, you lose that trombone VQ sound and it starts to sound a bit like a BMW straight 6. The PPE headers for the Lexus IS350 do this, too. I love the tone. Get yourself a resonator and you have a winner.

Any engine can sound bad with larger diameter exhaust pipe
the fix is just add single resonator after the Y pipe since he is using Longtube headers + single exit and it will reduce the raspiness

So fun fact, Ppe headers make the headers from the z equal length . The oem are unequal length. Little, so it gets rid of that trumpet sound
I’d say it’s the greedy , if he had a tomei or motordnye sound way better
The idle almost sounds like a V8 because of the cams, but the second you start revving it, it sounds like an Audi or a Civic type R. This makes sense if you think about it, because cars like the Z are the bridge between old school rwd manual sports and modern awd hot hatches and performance sedans.

Dang that sounds good! Man do vq’s really sound better with headers. And those cams add some aggressiveness to the idle. Is the vvt deleted with those cams?

@@jlou606 honestly man, Motordyne headers with the E370 make it sound like a Porsche low key, I wanna get PPE headers for my G, and maybe pair it with a Motordyne, or a Tomei but with a resonated y pipe

honestly, i wouldn't recommend it minimum gains for heavy work, you will pay a lot to install these. the OEM exhaust cams are already good

If I could go back I wouldnt do cams just upgrade my oil pump....but I did upgrade my oil boundary ..
@@waynejr8725 honestly, best oil pump is the nismo for 370z, also you need volume and boundaries is basically modified stock oil pump and won't really fit perfectly ( it's the same for suckerpunch oil pump) They get stock oil pump and change gear and trim parts of it to allow "slightly more volume" which is important for turbo boosted cars since you need more oil
Have you considered buying Z1 oil pan with upraded oil pump
Also the Z1 oil pan uses the VQ40DE oil fliter and it will cause slight clearance issue with the sway bar and undershroud
It's a difficult road to modify these...it's why you should just settle with intake and exhaust system, without the ported intake manifolds, underpulleys, Cams and other stuff unless you're willing to spend a lot of money.

Sounded better when it was off, I can do a straight pipe on my 4cyl and make it sound that way without cams, 4K in mods to make it sound shitty, BRAVO!
