  • Various Short shift adapters don't change gate spacing on the 10th Generation Honda Civic (2016+ Civics). In today's video we take car of that with a new part from ACUITY Instruments that will shorten the side to side movement of your shift knob, while reducing the plastic-like feel of the shifter too (product link below):

    Acuity should offer a Combo pack deal if people want to buy all the parts at once.

    With all these products from acuity. Can i still be able to partner it with the boomba racing adapter plate.?

    • @Pawinning
      @Pawinning  6 лет назад +1

      It is not recommended to pair the two parts together. I cannot confirm whether the combination works, but I can confirm that ACUITY's throw reduction is optimal for 10th gen civics

  • @matthyahuw

    Think this would work if one already installed the boomba short shift kit?

    • @Pawinning
      @Pawinning  6 лет назад

      That I’m not sure, but I would imagine that since the boomba short shift modifies throw at the bushings, this rocker would further reduce throw cuz it’s simply changing the geometry of the existing stock piece. That being said I haven’t seen someone mix and match this parts. Lemme know if it ends up working!

    Where's your video on the Acuity shifter spring ? I could've sworn you made one i can't find it

    • @Pawinning
      @Pawinning  6 лет назад

      I actually don’t have a video for that. I do have a video that will include how I put the spring in briefly on queue. Regardless, the installation of that spring is easier than you think, just gotta take apart the center console for access.

      What does the spring improve?

    • @flagsred7181
      @flagsred7181 6 лет назад

      DoubleDown It improves the Stiffness in the Side to Side motion of the shifter to make it feel more precise. Aka going from 1st to reverse or moving it in neutral.

    I have a ? Bro if I’m thinking of getting the short shift adapter and the bushings for less play. Would it hurt the car longevity if I don’t put the zip ties that you put?

    • @Pawinning
      @Pawinning  5 лет назад

      Hey man thanks for commenting 👍. It won't hurt the car at all. All the acuity parts have been thouroughly tested to ensure long term durability. The zip tie solution is an optional step only if you experience excess cable movement where the cables are affixed to the shifter housing. Feel free to shoot me a dm on insta if u have more questions 👍.

      A short shifter adapter typically reduces throw only, this part will reduce gate spacing.

    It's a piece of shit. I'm going to be putting back the stock one on simply because the shifting with it is getting worse in a sense that engagement is not sticking all the way. There are time where I can't get into first gear and have to play around with it by shifting to third and then wiggling it to neutral and then to first to get into gear.

    • @Pawinning
      @Pawinning  5 лет назад +1

      Hey man just letting you know I will be forwarding this to Russ just so I can look into your specific issues a little more and get more insight on the stock shifter system. Sorry to hear about your sticky shifts in 1st and 2nd. I actually experienced this same issue when my shifter was stock and also had to play with the shift lever to get it to shift into those gears. This rocker though only controls the movement of the gate cable the same way the OEM one does, but with tighter tolerances, different materials, and a slight reduction in gate spacing. I haven't heard of the rocker causing this sticky issue before myself. I along with several other 10th gen community members have found that our stock transmissions are not as well designed as previous generations, specifically in how the internal forks/synchros move. They aren't as smooth and seamless as they should be, and with hondas decision to make the shifter system plastic, it does not do any justice to fix that or inspire more confidence/precision in shifts.
      That being said, please don't hesitate to reach out to the acuity team on our website, email, or even in our dms. We support our customers 💯 and want to try our best to make sure you have confidence in our products and are happy with our services. We'll take care of you whether you want to look into the issues further, or proceed with a return 👍.

    • @XxIhorxX
      @XxIhorxX 5 лет назад +1

      Ah ok. So if you experienced it on the stock one then it could be a common design error. Because I never had that issue with the stock rocker. I had around 2k miles on the car before I added the acuity rocker and then had this issue a few times. If you are saying you had this issue with the stock and the acuity just focuses in making the tolerance tighter with no limit in shifting the forks the same way as the stock one.. then it could just be a honda issue, not the rocker perhaps.. but we will see, I didnt take it out yet, but will see if my gears get stuck again. Shifting into 2nd from first feels weird. I hate the double clicking when shifting in this car... makes it feel harder to get into gear.

    • @Pawinning
      @Pawinning  5 лет назад

      I'm jealous of your low miles (im up to 40k now)! So I started experiencing the sticky shifts at about 3500 miles (along with an unrelated AC issue as well 🤦🏻‍♂️), and in the following months I worked my way up to get all the parts in the stage 2 kit. By working with each part in the kit one at a time, I've realized that there are many points in the stock shifter system (or shift linkage system) that can be upgraded to help make shifts feel firmer and provide more positive feedback to the driver, all of which help alleviate the internal shortcomings of the transmission (but not entirely unless you start modifying the trans itself). The first shifter mod I did to my Si was actually the cable bushings, those helped a lot to eliminate the vagueness with each shift and make the shifts feel more precise/deliberate. I'd recommend trying those out regardless of whether you choose to remove the rocker or not, as the acuity cable bushings are solid and will outlast the OEM ones hands down by design and material choice. The OEM cable bushings are made of rubber and have decent amount of compliancy that dampens the engagement of each gear change/gate selection. I personally upgraded mine to improve shifting into first from neutral, as I previously would accidentally shift into third 😅.

    • @Pawinning
      @Pawinning  5 лет назад

      @@XxIhorxX that double clicking can also be one of two things. The first is the messy synchro engagement like I mentioned previously. And the second I think it could be the gear change cable moving at the point it's secured to on the shifter (there's a black plastic bushing that secures the allignment of the cable to the shifter body that can buckle around in place when you shift into even gears (see the acuity channel for this as we have a video that talks about it involving our shift adapter for the civicx)

    • @XxIhorxX
      @XxIhorxX 5 лет назад +1

      @@Pawinning what you are referring to are the shift linkage bushings? I changed them along with the acuity shifter the same day. Mine is an 18 si.. had it for over a year and only 8k miles.. barely drive it lol. But what's this adapter you are talking about? Not the one for down shifting correct? I dont need that heel toe bs. I can do well with out it. I have a 92 hatch with built motor and stage 3 clutch/ super light fly wheel. O know where to rev it to hook into previous gear :). I also absolutely hate the damn rev hang on this car. I just purchased Ktuner. Do you have that as well?
