    What is contact cleaner just brake cleaner ? Great video

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 года назад

      Contact cleaner and brake cleaner are different. Contact cleaner is less harsh and safer to use on more surfaces, including electrical components, while brake clean is a harsher with the sole purpose of cleaning and degreasing brakes. Hopefully that helps a little and thanks for watching the video!

    I have a '16 300XC that has a slipping clutch. I just replaced it and bled/replaced the fluid (great video), but it's still slipping.
    Is there an adjustment I can make with the Slave Cylinder?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 года назад

      Did you check the adjustment on the spring retainer for the clutch plates? It should have X, Y, and Z mounting locations for more or less tension. If you are starting in the X position, bump it up to Y, then to Z, one step at a time until it doesn't slip. Ideally you would check the spring for distortion (0.00mm to 0.10mm) using a straight edge and feeler gauge. -Charles

    • @Fmontes
      @Fmontes 2 года назад

      @@rmatvmc Thanks, Charles. The adjustment is on the "Y" position - same as stock. I don't believe there is any spring distortion from the Belville Spring as it is brand new - OEM clutch kit purchased from Rocky Mountain. I'm going to check the Slave Cylinder, as I read the plunger can get clogged and not function normally.
      Please let me know if you think of anything else - thanks again.

    • @almaguapa-sailboatliveaboa440
      @almaguapa-sailboatliveaboa440 2 года назад

      Make sure ur O-rings are brake fluid compatible and won’t degrade/polute fluid in short term. As long as no leak hapoens once everything installed at recommende torques, then good. DON’t over torque!!! Engine metal composite doesn’t tolerate over torquing of screws/nuts/bolts. 😕

      No, they are two different oils and you should ONLY use mineral oil if that is what your clutch calls for.

      Apparently yes.
      Magura did disapoint me after I took my bike and had 3 fails in 3 days. The silicone does not resist to heat, while clutch producing the most heat. This was not such a cheap quality on my previous bikes

    Why did English speakers start calling it a slave cylinder in WW2. Most others and the parents call it an actuator or a receiver?

    • @telerover
      @telerover 4 года назад +2

      Origins were before WWII with the advent of hydraulic mechanisms, even pulley systems, where one device controls the motions of one or more multiple devices ( a brake pedal stopping 4 wheels simultaneously). Since 1976 the US has issued more than 67,000 patents using the terms, from an antenna system to a data-encoding method to a “vehicle ramp assembly.” Snowflakes will object to the mechanical terms, but the rest of us do not see a correlation to past human bondage. How about male and female threads? Of course there are the left-hand threads which don't fit into the norm. ...or UNF, UNC, Metric , Whitworth,, British Standard threads., none of these populations of hardware should not, and cannot be allowed to mate with each other, otherwise a weaker product results. Oh, my... my 73 y.o. engineering mind does wander.

    • @joemobile_
      @joemobile_ Год назад

      I just ordered the whole slave cylinder from KTM for 150 bucks, a tech explained to me how the piston eventually wears and scratches, and when the bike is hot, those scratches expand and allow clutch fluid to leak into the motor
