Heres the cab view ride of the entire D Line service from Union Station to Wilshire/Western. Also, the tracks between Union Station and Wilshire/Vermont are shared with the B Line(Red) before separating after Wilshire/Vermont Station where the D Line goes to Wilshire/Western and B Line to North Hollywood. So heres the history of the B and D Lines:
1/30/1993: Opened as the Metro Red Line from Union Station to Westlake/MacArthur Park Station
7/13/1996: extended the Red Line from Westlake/MacArthur Park Station to Wilshire/Western Station
6/12/1999: extended the Red Line from Wilshire/Vermont Station to Hollywood/Vine Station
6/24/2000: extended the Red Line from Hollywood/Vine Station to North Hollywood Station
2006: in order to avoid confusion, the lines were spilt and renamed where the Red Line would run from Union Station to North Hollywood and the new Purple Line would run from Union Station to Wilshire/Western
2020: both Red and Purple Lines would be renamed as B Line(Red) and D Line(Purple) due to the adoption of the lettering system
2024: D Line extended from Wilshire/Western to Wilshire/LaCienega
2025: D Line extended from Wilshire/LaCienega to Century City/Constellation
2027: D Line extended from Century City/Constellation to Westwood/VA Hospital Кино
As of today, both stations served by the D Line (Purple) only (Wilshire/Normandie and Wilshire/Western) still have its original red dots on its station name signs since 1996. LA Metro never changed the color indicators to purple. All the other stations served by both the B (Red) and D lines (Union Station to Wilshire/Vermont) still have red dots only on the signs as well.
