Gratulations to the audience! They managed not to appplaud after the third movement. Knowing there will be a finale with lots of emotions. Wonderful rendition.

Every time I listen to the Pathetique I get a jolt right at the beginning of the 4th movt and that's because the 3rd movt is so festive. That last movement is just the epitomy of utter pain; everything leads to ultimate tragedy.

After having heard Mr Manze in concert with the forces of the WDR (Respighi, Schumann, Tchaikovsky), I am a fan. A wonderful conductor. He deserves greater recognition, IMO. And this, btw, was a very fine performance as well. Keep the standard high!

So much energy and passion. It truly brings resonance to the ongoing tragedies in Ukraine. May peace be upon the country and many survive such atrocities and families be reunited very soon. Bravo to the conductor, the orchestra and the recording team for this brilliant performance. 👏👏👏

I think, that Schostakovich's 11 "truly brings resonance to the ongoing tragedies in Ukraine". And 7!
As Maxim Schostakovich said, his father's music rises above the descriptions of Stalin's character to a generalization of his attitude toward tyranny in all its forms.

"It truly brings resonance to the ongoing tragedies in Ukraine" - Indeed it does. 46 biolabs close by & finally Russian patience is lost. Will us peasants ever be free of the powerful families that have ruled us for centuries?

How nice to see a conductor actually using the stick from his wrist, instead of just an extension of his arm.

What….? It is about MUSIC, not about dance, sport. You have to rehearse well…it does not matter ONE bit what you do with a stick.

Its the best performance ive ever heard.
All the sounds that come out are beautiful. I experienced a fresh impression. Thank you!

I can’t say I blame him either. She is beautiful.

Russia has wonderful authors and wonderful composers and I believe, also wonderful people. We are neighbours! So sad that this aggression of Putin in starting an attack of an innocent country has in Russia been to defending Russia against nazists. It is like in Orwells book 1984.
