The Crimson Idol is a concept album about an abused boy named Jonathan who steals a guitar he names Crimson and becomes famous and eventually commits suicide by hanging himself with the strings of his guitar. Chainsaw Charlie is the story of how he sold his soul to the music industry at the start of his career. You need to listen to the whole album for proper conext.

Listened to this song almost 40 years and never plugged the crowds into the "factory" in the way you did, almost like the chainsaw is about to rip them apart - and at the same time the chainsaw rips into the artist while the artist performs for the crowd, which is the music industry at its heart. I mean, there's more to the song when you wrap the rest of the album around it, and more to the album when you use this original version of the song. Blackie re-released it to be less offensive in the remaster. But it's just amazing that I've listened to this song thousands of times, and I just got one tiny last new thing out of it. Amazing stuff. Great reaction sir. Hopefully more of this great group is on the inbound. During a press conference Blackie Lawless was approached regarding what W.A.S.P stands for. The journalist said "We Are Satans People". Mind you this was the same time moms thought KISS was "Knights In Satans Service" etc. But Blackie just leaned forward at the microphone, smiled and said; "We Ain´t Sure Pal".
This came out in 1992 from the concept album called The Crimson Idol. Good job on understanding the lyrics. Yes, the song is about the music industry. In the story "Chainsaw" Charlie is the president of a major record label who promises to make the main character Jonathan a Rock Star. Would go further into the story-line, but I don't want to spoil the ending for those of you who have not listened to the whole album yet. Other WASP tunes to listen to: Anything from "The Last Command" and I recommend the live release called "Live...In the Raw". Keep the reactions coming. \m/

Blackie Lawless used to wear these long leather arm-bands with circular saw blades in each one (: With that voice, this guy was born to sing metal. He really has a great voice for metal.
"I Wanna Be Somebody" is the only song i can remember rn, but it's a banger, an anthem, it's simple but it really rocks
you are LOVING your wasp journey as much as i love hearing them, EVERY TIME, dude :) if these are not your fav band, then i am Lying to myself in thinking that have become that haha
Hell yeah brother!! Love this band to.
This was from the crimson idol rock opera album. Check out animal (i duck like a beast) (e rated), I wanna be somebody, wild child, headless children, miss you, their “paint it black” cover, the Gypsy meets the boy, hold on to my heart, phantoms in the mirror… all good songs.
The whole album “ The Crimson Idol” is 10 out of 10. A must listen through in order since it’s one long story.
Thanks brother, I almost forgot how good these guys are!! 🤘
It's been a minute. LOL
The Crimson Idol is the best Consept album ever.
I loved your reaction to this my man
WASP Wild Child, I Wanna Be Somebody, Blind in Texas, Animal (Fuk Like a Beast) I Don't Need No Doctor, Scream Until You Like it. So many great songs from them🤘
Best reaction to this song, ever.
