- Since I just got my new Koa JP 6 string, I figured that I would do a Dream Theater cover! This is one of my all-time favorite Petrucci solos.
The backing track is from Jammit. I muted the actual solo track.

At @0:31 I'm sure that blues lick was way faster than that but I don't know since the mix on the studio version sounds muddy and the live ones are a bit improvised.

Many years ago maybe ten or so I used to sit in Travis’s room across the room and watch him record leads for his band. I would just sit there with my jaw on the ground and shake my head. Then in between tracks we’d talk about what to have for lunch. LOL. Was up Travis. Love you bro 😜

How do you do the really high pitch shit on top of the first bend?
It's called a pinch harmonic, you lightly touch the side of the string with your thumb as you pick
Man bravo this seems easy compared to others Petrucci stuff but hell on earth its like first part of best of the times bends are really tough and there are double bends you did excellent job BRAVO

i felt like some parts were absolutely out of time and many bends were out of tune, guess u should work on that, however great video

None of the bends were out of tune, but some of the timing was a bit off in a few minor spots. So your criticism of some of the timing was correct, but perhaps your ear for pitch needs some work.
Maxx Doran I know this comment is 8 months old, but I made a constructive critic, the "do it yourself then comment" argument is stupid, you don't have to be a pilor to say that landing a plane on a tree is not right (not that the cover was that bad, but it had some off tempo parts)
@@fernandosilva6295 I'm 2 years late to the club. Those 2 things were my first 2 observations aswell. A great performance nevertheless but especially the step to step and a half bend on the ,12th fret b string, that's one of the main stand-out bends in the solo and it was slightly off; it missed that shine. But was great anyway

It looks like a JP Musicman BFR 6 which costs anywhere between $5000 and $6000 depending on the type and where you get it from.
+Tom Underwood You got ripped off a bit. I have the same guitar, w/the same finish and the piezo bridge and everything and got mine brand new for $3000. They even threw in the molded case, 5 straps, a pack of picks and a couple instructional DVDs. You gotta haggle when you buy a guitar. Their mark up is astronomical.
