- I've been on a huge Train of Thought kick lately, so I thought I'd cover something off of it! It's always been a goal of mine to tackle this section of "In The Name of God".
I've been playing guitar for about 20 years and I still haven't played this many notes in total yet

I'm laying in bed and sick/exhausted from food poisoning. So I'm half awake and fascinated with the accuracy of your playing in both skill and where you're at on the instrument to get the specific sounds Petrucci did. I'm so into it that after the first leg @1:51, I surprise myself by quietly saying, "c'mon!" like I'm actually there with you. The tone was like we were pals and I was chiding you with fake irritation in a "you're not done yet, don't screw this up" kind of way, haha. I'm never caught up in doing things like that as an adult, so it was fascinating to me that I got so lost in what you were doing that emotional reaction and pride in your performance overrode self control. I thought you'd get a kick out of hearing you did that to a stranger through a video, haha

At 2:23 (when you do the trills) are you hammering both your middle and ring fingers?!? I can't tell..it's so fast lol...
Yep! I find it a lot easier to do trills that way.
yeah JP does hammers and pulls and Travis does trills, actually is harder in the sense that you've got to keep your fingers very well synched
Pedro Silva JP picked those trills, you can see in live performance.
Yeah this was more nitpicking that actual criticism. One thing that disappointed me a bit while watching DT live is that JP makes a lot of mistakes, glad they're human haha

Amazing job, the funny thing is that in this whole crazy solo John Petrucci used the most popular guitar techniques like: legato, alternate picking, sweep picking, string skipping. Did I missed something? :)

I dont know when the first time I listened to this was, but I remember watching this video specifically about a year ago. I used to hate this part of the song because of the wonky bass line. Its now my favorite song. Im "learning" this solo right now, massive props to you for playing it so clean.

Yep! I picked that technique up from watching some Jason Richardson videos. This technique for trills works a lot better for me than the normal way of doing them.
