I like that he has the MPH on the screen. For those of us that don't fly, but are interested in this (which is most viewers) its frustrating that many of these flying channels don't describe speed. They will do a whole video on a plane and not talk about how fast it goes, or cruises, its insane.

Great to see a Porter still flying. They were used as Bush planes in Western Alaska in the early to mid 1960s, carrying passengers and mail.
I love the pc6. Such a capable back country plane.

Please fuel up the Porter for me; I will be needing it for about three years. Thanks! 😂. Great pilot from Suisse...excellent video! Air America effectively relied on the Porter in Vietnam, Laos and Thailand in combat support and transport roles out of the most austere fields in the world.
That just got a ton more character that a Caravan or Kodiak.
I've loved these ungainly-looking things since I was a kid watching the army doing beta approaches in North Queensland. Got to fly in one in NZ and land on the Tasman Glacier too!

Once again, first class Bobby. Very interesting story from Cedric & the features of the airplane including the shade cover over the cockpit. The windscreen really extends back quite a way. Hi, Mike! That's a good point, but don't forget that the pilots of planes like this are either 1. Extremely experienced bush-pilots; or 2. Completely nuts.
My late dad was with the Flying Doctor Service in East Africa (Kenya); he never flew a Pilatus, but I have it on pretty good authority that the two points mentioned above are connected: you don't get to be '1' without being '2'! :-)

That Pilatus got off the ground so easy, I didn't think he had enough airspeed and then, oh wait, we're flying.
The Porter was built as STOL aircraft and gets off and on the ground quick.

I think that "gear down for runway landing" was a bit late. I could imagine the pilot landing and forgetting to put the gear down and 5 minutes after the crash, while the plane is laying in ruins the warning comes on "Gear down for runway landing".

I don't want to spend a ton of money on my first headset but I do want something that's comfortable and works well. Which headset would you recommend? This questions up for anyone to answer. If you can't afford new then look for a used ANR headset on eBay. It just isn't worth it to buy a non ANR headset anymore. Hearing loss is permanent. Used Lightspeed Sierra or Zulu or a used Bose X or A20. Take care of them and they will last a long time and easily pay for themselves.

I think all float planes are required to have oars, but on a plane this size and weight, I’m not sure they will do much

Take-Off Distance of 1,444 with a useful load of over 2600lbs, stall speed 58 knots. This thing is a goldmine when they are used for the right mission.
@@rex669 Well 1480 lb useful with full fuel as configured on amphibians. Pilatus is ending production within weeks of the PC-6

Great presentation from the German pilot, but he really needs to work on his technique! A bit too dry and monotonous! Obviously very knowledgeable. Sorry you didn't get more of Laura in the other aircraft, but I had seen the previous posting showing her fun flight!
