I definitely agree with your assessment of your method of clearing that field over mulching. My family has a very large farm and there is absolutely no way they would ever run the very expensive implements over ground with tree roots left behind especially in an area that size. Farmer Chris definitely made a good decision having that path cut between the fields. It’s much faster for him and safer for the motorists one the roads. It’s just added acreage for planting.

The tree you are talking about is a Locust tree. Mid west Ohio we call them Honey locust. I have personally seen them puncture tractor tires on more than one occasion. When dry the wood and thorns become hard as a rock. When clearing fence lines we always pushed the trees onto a bed of softer underbrush so the thorns were less likely to lay on the ground and burned in place. Just trying to eliminate the thrones from spreading around. Be safe and thanks to you and your crew for awesome videos😊

Oh wow that quick little clearing job turned into a rather large clearing job quick but yall knocked it out perfectly Dirt Perfect & gave the farmers a nice chunk of land to add into the farmable land aswell as save Chris alot of time getting between fields..
But why didnt yall just pile all that brush & trees where you could burn it instead of pushing it into the tree line where itll dry out & create an area that could possibly catch fire burning all the other trees down??
Plus it seems that Aaron has gotten alot more comfortable running the dozers & the quality of his work with the dozer has improved aswell..
Awesome work yall.. The Dirt Perfect crew has knocked out another great job..

The "thorny"trees you've encountered are likely black locust. If you get stuck with one of the thorns it really hurts, (ask me how I know). Those thorns are especially hard on tires. If you get rid of the trees and not the roots they grow back quickly.

I will concur on all counts. It likes limestone laced soils so Indiana is a good spot. Expands and regenerates by suckers and shoots. Often forms in groves. Makes "wait-a-minute" bushes seem like child's play. Thorns could probably even peel back truck bed spray on lining. :)
