SPOILER: He can’t. The Commandant is one of the few or handful of people that are incompatible with the process of becoming constructs. This fact should have made him ineligible in becoming a commandant (because in case a commandant gets seriously injured they’re turn into constructs for survival) However, the commandant teacher lied saying he was compatible (upon the commandants request) and now he’s a commandant. If anyone of the higher ups were to know; he’d possibly lose everything, his commandant status and his team
Sadly no the lore reason is already explained by the other guy now there's also common sense which is the commandant is player and not all of them has same gender(though most people know that he's a boy still no conformation from kuro) so making commandant a playable construct is tough also if commandant became a construct lucia won't be the main mc anymore. Now come to think about it there's something important about him which makes him such a important character in the story(not because of he's the player) . I guess there's something special about him that we don't know about. Anyway even if he has something special it won't be reveal till the final arc of the story so for now let's say he can't become a construct.
I still prefer honkai impact videos, not saying that this work here is garbage, the animations are definitely better than honkai impact but honkai impact definitely has better character flashbacks due to world building that make your eyes wet.
