Based on the demo, the obscure progression requirements seem to be fixed. It's pretty generous with waypoint and objective markers, and going through Ancient China it seemed like the game would highlight who I need to talk to.
I agreed. I’ve only played the Japanese chapter and no complains when trying to progress or talk through the different sections.
I love that you played through a game you seem to hate three times, and now you're doing a bunch of videos on it, like you have to suffer in purgatory to make up for some imagined sin before being released.
I'm looking forward to many more Live A Live videos from you, including how to guides for these mysterious "super bosses" you've mentioned.
One aspect I think is extremely cool in this game is how the gear/skills/level of your people carries over into far later in the game. It makes your choices in each chapter very impactful, which I loved.
I'm really looking forward to trying this out. Love when one of those old JRPGs that never made it to the West finally make it here. Looking forward to completing this one. Just ordered it, can't wait to see the postman on Tuesday now 😂

The remake fixes a lot of the issues mentioned in this video ( objective marker added as well as the possibility to play a completed chapter from before the final boss to complete everything)

Level 16 is not the cap. You can level up all the way to 99. It's just a very long process.
Another good tip the super bosses don't play at all which means it's okay to use cheese
I LOVE the remake, and your major complaint is gone from the remake except for one part in the 8th chapter, but I did find the ninja chapter to be a pain in the ass. I liked it but it felt way too complicated to do the way it sort of wants you to.
A friend told me about this game and it looks really cool. I hope more Super Famicom games that have been unreleased here in the United States can be played on the Nintendo Switch. I would love to see Mystic Ark and Terranigma get released. Thanks for another great video! 👍💯
Im curious to see what changes the remake implements, I think there is some fun to figuring out the mechanic of each chapter, but a little more direction would definitely be nice.
I'm playing through Pogo's scenario right now and at a glance, it doesn't seem like a whole lot has changed in terms of mechanics and how things work. Crafting is more/less the same and the formulas from the SNES version are the same, aside from some slight changes to some of the names given to equipment and materials. The minigame is mostly unchanged (and actually seems a bit easier due to the remade sprites). So in other words, you can pretty much max out Pogo's equipment before you even leave the starting cave.
The menu UI is really nice, allowing you to see exactly what resistances your character has on them from equipment. Same thing with combat. Similar to the original, but with more user-friendly menus. The radar is a freaking godsend, and this thing will be immensely welcomed for Cube's scenario. We finally have something that shows where to go at all times. And if you don't like it or want it to be more like the SNES version, no problem. It's possible to turn it off in the menu. Other than those changes and the audio and visual upgrades, the game seems to be more/less the same as the original.
And honestly, I'm fine with that. I don't mind the game being more/less the same as it was in the original. As the old saying goes, don't fix what isn't broken.

It's actually not correct that Level 16 is the max, that just happens to be the last level that characters learn a new ability. You'll continue to gain stat increases all the way to Level 99 though, afaik. Thanks for the video!

Definitely looking forward to picking up the game, everything I've seen on the remake seems like they ironed out a lot of these kinks. I won't be able to grab it today, since I'm getting Xenoblade 3 next week, I will certainly be getting it soon
I have it emulated on my SNES mini, and saved at the point where all characters meet. I feel like the final chapter is where the real fun begins, since you get to customize your party and have a more standard JRPG experience. I don't feel the need to grab the remake at all.
That's all well and good, but what if they're thinking of remaking say, Terranigma and using this game to determine if a Western release of that game is something people are interested in? Or if they're using this game as a baseline to determine if any future remakes in this style are something that people are interested in?
Bear in mind, this same discussion happened with the remake of Secret of Mana and I was right on that one. They used that as a baseline to determine if it was worth it to remake Seiken Densetsu 3. This is what Square-Enix does.

If you avoid all the enemies in the Ninja scenario, wouldn't you be way to weak to defeat the boss at the end? How do you solve that on that path
I'll give you a hint, you can't defeat people in the scenario, but if the enemies are already dead...
Another hint not all of the enemies are humans

Is the story worth playing through? I bought this game to help support HD 2d makes of games but I'm not very interested in playing it.
It's some sort of hit or miss imo. There's IS a good twist at the end, but I'm not going to spoil anything.
Not for everyone, could be said about everything though, I will play it though cause I need to form my own opinion.

I heard the remake has an unlockable 8th character that helps to tie everything together better than the original.
Oh, you mean the entire other half of the game? Because that's in the original too. This video literally only talks about the first half, although thats because the second half is one big spoiler.
So far the only thing keeping me from getting it is that there’s almost no female characters in a cast that big. It’s of it’s time but it’s still a bummer for me.
