Hey dr Dan, did you ever get that stent in the bile duct? I recall yr dr said it was partially obstructed. You are contagiously positive, your mindset is awesome!🌸
Have had a colostomy for 8 years, never had any problems. Had colorectal cancer in 2016. Bag is not pleasant by any means but you do get used to it and can do anything you'd normally do. More of a psychological hurdle. All the best for your surgery and trial.
My sister in law had a colostomy just a few months ago . Stage 4 cancer. She went home the next day no issues at all. Felt great getting the plumbing working.
I had a colostomy for over 3 years, it was so much easier to handle than the temporary ileostomy I have now. No leaks, and "stable production" around once a day. Didnt really have to bother about wath to eat, the important thing was to drink a lot of water, to avoid constipation. I was able to do everything I used to do without the bag, playing tennis, running, working out, etc. I'm almost at a point where I regret going for the reversal process (going "bag free"), as there will be problems with toilet habits.... The annoying thing with the colostomy bag is the total lack of "holding back control", in other words loud farts will occur without you having any chances to stop them😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 But, the smell stays in the bag, so thats a positive. My surgery was laparoscopy, so no large scares, only a few small holes. I had some problems getting the "system going", so stayed at the hospital for almost two weeks b4 things became acceptable. Be prepared for pain from air pockets moving around in your body, as they "inflate" you for the surgery, I got epidural and pretty heavy morfine based pain killers for the first few days. And, The "stomach system" doesnt like large interruptions like surgery, so getting things started again can take a while. Wish you all the best and good luck with surgery!

Dr. Dan, I first saw you on here a couple months ago. What an amazing huge INSPIRATION YOU are to this world. You have impacted me so much about LIFE and the true gift it really is. I will continue to follow your journey with you and I will walk with you for years to come because I want to believe that you already have this beat to the core. That is my dream wish for you. I am so sad that you are challenging this. But you already know you're never alone. What an amazing strong fighting man you are. You have no idea how loved you are Dan.
I guess we don't have to know someone in person to truly feel connected to them. You are one of those people. Sitting here on my couch watching you is the best. You have more support and love and it's off the charts simply because of YOU. We love you Dan. Relish in the beauty of your tribe who are cheering you on. We will never leave your side. And you have an amazing family. Blessed you are. Remember these words:
EVERY TIME YOU SUCCEED RAISE YOUR BAR HIGHER.
YOU ARE INVINSIBLE...

So good to see you! "Get busy livin' or get busy dying" was Morgan Freeman's character "Red" from the best movie ever, The Shawshank Redemption. I quote it all the time. Wishing you a speedy recovery so you can get busy eating 🙂
Many healing prayers to you Dan, a lot of people who have those kinds of bags are living pretty normal lives , I pray for comfort and extended life for you. 🙏🏻
Colostomy is even a fun thing. It has its own behavior, my mom used to call it "my new ass" :) The only important thing is that you will eat and able to process all of it! Take care and get back well!
And we used to feed mom during similar very difficult period using nutridrink compact. Found out to be working stuff.
Sending you lots of love and prayers! I’m here for your 🐼 spirit and cheering you on every step of the way! Will be storming heaven with extra prayers ahead of the surgery. 🙏🏻 ❤
You are so kind to keep us updated. When you have no energy it's a chor to even get out of bed and dress. So thank you for caring about keeping us up to date.
