  • A new acrylic painting tutorial sunset beach episode to create a gorgeous acrylic painting sunset beach together. By following along with the painting instructions at home.
    In this more advanced acrylic painting tutorial I am going to teach you how to paint a sunset beach with acrylic paints that is a little harder and more detailed than previous tutorials.
    This sunset beach acrylic painting tutorial will make it very easy to follow along with step by step instructions so you can learn to mix tones, use brush techniques and paint a realistic gorgeous beach sunset.
    This beach painting tutorial is perfect for more advanced students (intermediate) as it covers acrylic painting techniques and show you how to paint a beach sunset.
    You can use canvas or paper for the tutorial but please have a hairdryer handy to dry your work in places. Acrylics dry very fast, but the hairdryer allows you to quickly dry your work in order to not make a mistake.
    By taking your time with each stage you will learn how to improve your realism but also how to paint a beach sunset acrylic painting.
    Please enjoy, and please be sure to let me know your thoughts in the comments below :)

      Would the same techniques apply if you did this one on oils?

    • @NorthGermanic
      @NorthGermanic 2 года назад +1

      Pretty much, yes. But the waiting time between layers and drying, can be frustrating. Better have more than one project going, so you got something to work on in the meantime, if you go with oil.
      The overall techniques are the same, but there'll be slight differences. I don't know enough about oil painting to be exact. But for instance, can't simply use water as medium for thinning and fluidity like you could with acrylics. But the way this artist visualizes how the light from the sun spreads across the canvas and darkens at the corners, would be the same of course. In other words, light properties and behavior is what we all want to imitate, be it oil or acrylic :)

    Awesome tutorial! Magnificent results! Are you using any medium? It seems the paints aren't drying quickly on the pallet so I was wondering, though it might just bescause of your expert speed:) Also, reason for burnt sienna undercoat? Thanks !!

    • @MSTEWARTPAINTINGS
      @MSTEWARTPAINTINGS  Год назад +1

      Hi Robert
      Thank you. No, I don't use any medium. I do you a spray mist bottle for plants that keeps my palette dry. You can get them fo a couple of bucks. These tutorials are a bit older. But all the latest say 30 tutorials are painted real time. So they are a bit slower if that helps. But sometimes I mix up the same colours off camera if they have dried. Magic of editing lol.
      The burnt sienna is just an old artist trick. So that you can see areas that you need to thicken up the paint and apply more. As the dark colour shines through the watery acrylics. By having a darker colour I can see areas of the painting where I have missed or need to rework.
      Hope that helps. Happy painting.

    Hi...thank you so much ...just a couple of questions pls. Why do you paint the whole canvas such a dark colour? I'm a new artist and I generally paint the areas I want in the end colours...is that wrong? Also, I have a couple of small cheap canvases I'm using to get rid of them..is it me, or is there a more prominent pattern on the cheap canvases? It takes me ages to get to a stage where I'm happy with it...and dont have little squares showing! I think maybe I need to give it a couple of this coats of paint first...any advice is greatly received :)

    • @MSTEWARTPAINTINGS
      @MSTEWARTPAINTINGS  3 года назад +3

      Hi Jenny. I paint the canvas burnt sienna. So if I’m using pastel coloured paint. I can see where I need a extra layer of paint. As the dark colour allows me to see where I’ve missed or where I need to repaint. As it shines through. Plus chalk leaves no marks unlike pen or pencils. So you can just paint over it. Great for moving things about or drawing outlines. With cheap canvases. You can buy some white primer and always prime your canvas. So it’s nice and smooth to paint on. A lot of artists do that before they paint. But like anything. Everyone is different and had a way that works for them. It’s all about finding yours and what works for you. There is no wrong way.

    • @jennyjbanks
      @jennyjbanks 3 года назад +2

      @@MSTEWARTPAINTINGS thank you. I was getting so frustrated with my last painting, I'd do a section I was really happy with, but end up going over it as the clouds would create square patterns which I then had to get out. I will definitely use a primer first 😊 Your painting is absolutely gorgeous. I love painting moody sky's.. but I'm now learning how to get that bright sun in sunsets..its not so easy!

    • @MSTEWARTPAINTINGS
      @MSTEWARTPAINTINGS  3 года назад +1

      @@jennyjbanks if you use bright white for the sun 🌞. Then use white and yellow around it and get darker as you get further away. The white tricks your eyes 👀 to make it look real. Don’t worry. I have days all the time where my paintings go wrong and I have to repaint it.
