I don't know how to paint. I have never even owned an easel. I do, however, love how relaxing it is to listen to him talk about his happy little landscapes
I love Bob and try to stay awake 😂 sometimes I have to watch his tutorials in segments so I can watch the whole thing. His voice knocks me outbafter 15 minutes.

i think he actually wanted to be able to make a painting in 30 minutes, that's why he perfected wet on wet
he has a few episodes that are like 50 minutes long
I think the reason it’s so good is the lack of indecision that comes with the pace
Back in the day he released 1hr episodes directly on VHS, you were able to buy or rent them at your local Blockbuster or VHS retailer, and if you live, like in very small town with none oh those you were able to buy and receive them by mail 🙂

His backstory is amazing, before painting he was a "tough and mean" (as he said) master seargent in the airforce for 20 years, yelling at recruits to wake up and clean latrines, he supposedly said when he was done with the military that he would never raise his voice again. Glad he picked up a paintbrush ❤

13:05. Proof positive that they did do these shows in one take. If not, Bob’s rage would have been edited out for no one to notice! This is an epic moment for all of us to enjoy. Bob came close to becoming completely unglued over the smallest, inconvenient event. Instead, he shook it off, gave a chuckle, and pressed on with his task at hand of teaching us how to paint a wave. Life is only done in one take just like Bob’s episodes. When something small stops your forward movement, be like Bob and disregard it to keep on the task at hand. If you regard it, it very well could ruin your day.

Bob's the best! Plain and simple... and anyone that don't like Bob, something's wrong with them! An icon that will never be forgotten thanks to technology and platforms like this. As a new Christian (was atheist 46½ out of 47 years) I have a pretty good feeling Bob is up in Heaven with the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, would love to meet Bob in Heaven. Not at all saying that he had "bad qualities" but you may find it interesting to know that he had a very different personality (in the military) prior to becoming the "Happy Accident" Bob that we love. Here is a documentary:

This is so funny. Watch starting at 11:20 he has a huge blob of bright red hanging off the palette ready to fall off. The camera goes back to the painting, then the next time you see the palette it's gone, so it fell. He finally notices it at 13:05, does a slight eye roll as he's going back up to the canvas and lets out a small chuckle as he's first putting in the waves in the distance. SO, so funny!!!

I have ADHD and I’ve never took medicine for it but I can control it but I move a lot from time to time and it’s hard for me to sleep sometimes I use an app called calm and it helps sometimes but bob’s videos are sooooo soothing and calming and with ADHD you’re hype sometimes and this really help to calm me down 😌 thanks bob❤️❤️

For me personally, I absolutely _love_ lighthouses! They're my favorite subject for paintings. This painting is already so striking and beautiful on its own, it cannot be improved on, but if I were to ever follow this tutorial (which I may one of these days) I would add a little personal touch and make a tiny lighthouse on those footlands in the background.
I could only hope that if Bob was here today and knew of my choice to add a little something that makes me happy, he would approve.

I have so much respect for bob ross. he painted the most fantastic paintings that beauty can behold. all in the matter of 27 minutes. with the pressure of the filming to finish in the time frame. its hard i have attempted this but failed big time. god has gained he's own personnel painter and decorater

You can tell poor Bob died a little inside here given that he didnt have the chance to paint any trees this episode.

I think out of all the shows I've watched this was my most favorite. You see his mastery and teaching at its finest. Just a beautiful painting....
Even im a color blind I still loves the sound of his brush while his painting and mixing those colors.

This semester I've been taking a Digital Painting Class. It has been really tough, but following these tutorials has really empowered me and made me feel like I could do it!
This is one of those paintings where you're halfway in and you're like "I mean it's ok but it's not THAT great" and two minutes later "OMG THAT'S THE BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN!"

I always loved watching Bobs painting tutorials when i was a kid. He always had a knack for making me feel like I could paint anything. He truly was an amazing artist.

Bob is Amazing and Awesome!!!To people saying that this ocean scene isn't one his best - He is simply showing you how to do things like sunsets and waves. When or if you paint something like this, make it your own. More clouds, less clouds, it's your decision, as he said at the start.

Whenever I need to leave something out to dry I always think "And let it dry completely." I've always loved the way he says that
I am now 77. When I was very young my mom let me sign up with Mr Ross. He taught me everything I know and I'm very grateful. He would have me send him my drawings and send back with what I could do different. I've been active off and on when I can. Now I'm painting....what fun
