- In New Jersey, anything could get you in the forest of the Pines Barens. It's important to beware the Jersey Devil. An unusual family lived in a cabin on the edge of the woods where the mother of 13 children was said to be a witch. Legend believes that when the mother fell pregnant with her 13th child, she begged God in her prayers to "make this one not a child, but a devil". Would you venture to seek the Jersey Devil?

My grandmother was a Wharton. Born 1896, and used to tell me about the week of the sightings. She had 2 encounters, one involving the family horse barn and a second in their firewood. She really mostly spoke of the hysteria of the time. She also said sometime in the 30s or 40s had another thing where they thought they saw it. We used to go to the winding river campground and way back there was a scout camp. Girl scout in summer and boys in winter and we heard the screaming back there. While I always thought it was the older kids messing with us younger ones. Winter 83

I had the experience of being homeless in the heart of the pine barrens. While it was spooky at night, I never got a bad vibe. I do believe I encountered the creature...I was sleeping beneath the trees one night and awoke to take a leak. Something jumped down out of a nearby tree and it was way too heavy to be a small animal. It honestly sounded like someone dropped a grizzly bear from the top of a pine, and I instantly froze up. I considered that it could be a black bear but I didn't hear any footsteps after the thud, or any noises at all, actually. I would expect a bear to at least run away. Within the next couple of weeks, I woke up to see a large figure standing near me in the woods, just watching. It looked like it might have had a deer-like head, but was much larger than a deer. If that was him, I consider him to be a protector. I actually slept easier thinking he was there.

i've been watching stuff like this for years now on shows like monster quest etc, but they're all very similar. i found your channel by accident and to be honest,i bloody love it.back stories, facts,interviews,evidence ,no william shatner, none of that annoying repeating every sentence etc which seems to be the norm these days........i'm binge watching all your vids now!!!! if you haven't done it already, would love to see one on the monster from boggy creek too. superb channel, already subscribed!!!!

I'm kind of a ghost/legend/crypto person (no expert on anything, I just like learning about them). I've heard and read about the Jersey Devil for about 20 years now, and though some of the stories differ, they have the same basic factors. The Pine Barrens, Mother Leeds and her 13th child, and the belief that it's been around for hundreds of years. Most descriptions are very similar too.
Mother Leeds never gave birth was never married to Mr Leeds he died 20 years before hence Debra McFadden aka mother Leeds was never married to Mr Leeds.Totally untrue.
This video literally had three different descriptions.
I say it’s a prehistoric bird of some sort due to there is connections to other states where small boy is found 40 miles away saying he lost his sweatshirt in a tree, or found on some high place a person his age could never climb. It lands in open fields for prey or high peaks etc.
That’s what I was thinking. Some type of pterosaur or later bird like creature. A couple guys from my Army unit, myself included, had a sighting in Kentucky of a very large bird. The birds we were watching circle high above the trees were dwarfed by whatever swooped through the canopy and showed itself. A handful of us saw it but it seemed like we all saw it from the corner of our eyes. It was an M203 range at ft. Knox to be specific as to where we were standing. It was open over the range, kind of, but it was a jungle around us. We made jokes that it had a nest somewhere with privates’ weapons and vests all scattered around. There was a basic training school there but we were mobilizing. Again, I saw it out of the corner of my eye but it was like 10 or 12 foot wingspan. It wasn’t like we could stop what we were doing to investigate. We just laughed it off like we did everything that year.
It's possible these ungodly screams people keep hearing are Barn owls. You hear one of them but don't see it, you're gonna panic. However, I am by no means saying that those who have seen the being are liars or lunatics.

Since 'Old Jersey' is Jersey, England...near Dover...I'm betting on they just dropped the 'New' at some point...like 'New York' was previously 'New Amsterdam', but both were taken from their old place-names in England and Holland...you know, like York in the North of England (where William Wallace sacked long ago)?
What I love about the Jersey Devil is that the Dude loves roller coasters. JD and I hit the amusement parks often. Because many people think JD is somewhat unattractive, I give him sun glasses and an overcoat so he doesn't frighten anyone. We have a blast at the parks. There isn't a thrill ride in America that Jersey doesn't love. We have sooooooooooooooooooooo much fun. We usually end the day with strawberry smoothies and raw steak. JD and I love our meat RARE. VERY RARE.

I just don't get it the new jersey devil was born awhile back lots of years ago and it is still seen and haunts the pine barrens to this day. why does Bigfoot,the loch ness monster, the dogmen, and the skinwalkers are all seen but none been caught or at least recorded up close clearly. and what gets on my nerves is none have been caught to this day. ah I almost forgot the mothman and the yeti wich now they say that's it a bear.

It's Furfur. Little known fact, after the Massachusetts Bay Colony trials of witches some people left and settled in the Pines. The Pines were notorious during 18th century for being a haven for highway men , heretics, squatters and witches. Like Pennsylvania proper, south NJ ,originally part of PA, was Quaker land . The Quakers were not Puritans . Similar stories are told around Kittatinny (Blue Mountain} PA. Especially the north slope.
The witnesses are describing the classic Baphomet character.

Tooth fairy is a fair tale. I didnt believe in ghost or spirits myself. They were to me imaginary or delusions of the mind , until I worked at night at a school built on what was once burial grounds , we had security cameras everywhere.The teachers, students, staff, and security got a handful. The best part is we caught stuff on camera and seen stuff with our own eyes, alot of people quit including gaurds. I of course stayed the longest to the very end until school closed with one other gaurd, I was the only one who had been their the longest. I did the research and found out a mother killed her children , one survived. Check out patchque ny five cemetery's history. In long island.
