- Young Sheldon Reaction is today's video! Hey everyone! Join me as we start this new journey with Young Sheldon today!
For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naive Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn't understand. Sheldon's mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son. For 12 years on "The Big Bang Theory," audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. In "Young Sheldon," audiences get a chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory," narrates.

Really wasn't expecting this show to be good, I was very pleasantly surprised. It only gets better as it goes on
Especially as Sheldon shifts into the background and Georgie becomes the main character.

@@HyrubatoMusic the novelty of Sheldon has completely worn off because we already know how he turns out as an adult whereas Georgie was a character who'd only ever been mentioned a couple of times in TBBT prior to Young Sheldon so the writers had a clean slate to work from when developing his backstory and character arc.

I had moments during YS where I thought "Man, I really hope Sheldon learns from his actionas and asshole moments against Missy and becomes ... you know, nice and understanding". And then I remember TBBT and am reminded that he barely becomes more empathic. Only a little bit.
Yeah me too! I didn’t watch this show for a long time because I expected it to be a show I would get annoyed at but when I decided to watch it, I ended up watching so much of it that I watched pretty much all of season 6 in one sitting
This show is heightened so much by not being a sitcom, so much easier to be empathetic for the kid without a laugh track
Also I believe Missy is the most important character in this show simply as a frame of reference of what a kid Sheldon's exact age is expected to be like

In regards to his father's heart, I like that they acknowledge his heart problems in this first season, even though he doesn't die until Sheldons 14, acknowledging early let us know that it is gonna happen at some point and it's still staying with the continuity of the original show, also we are already seeing Big Bang theory references, such as the introduction of Tam, why he is afraid to drive and The reason why he doesn't like chickens, He mentioned getting chased up a tree by a chicken in the show, I don't think we see it in Young Sheldon till later on, but I like how they have all these different references mentioned in the big bang theory showing up as actual moments in Young Sheldon.
Honestly, the theme is my favourite part - it just sums Sheldon up so well.

She also plays a nurse on Bob ❤ Abishola.
The scene of Sheldon playing the piano by ear has stuck in my head clearer than any joke in TBBT
I love how well it references things that we already learned in the big bang theory. About Sheldon, his family, the type of lifestyle, family dynamics and what Sheldon considered monumental/pivotal events. What led to his fears as an adult as you pointed out too.
I swear both the actors that play Sheldon and Missy look they could be twins IRL. Missy is my favorite, as well as Meemaw.
Annie Potts (who play Meemaw) was also in Ghostbusters and Toy Story 1, 2, and 4
She also played Mark Hamill's love interest in Corvette Summer and Molly Ringwald's older friend in Pretty In Pink and was also on Designing Women and Any Day Now.

I love how much you remember from Big Bang Theory, little details and stuff. Some reactors don't remember/pay attention to important stuff and then are confused about something just said, so its really refreshing to have a reactor like you.

The season 6 of Young Sheldon just ended few weeks back. After watching the first season with, it's very interesting to see how far the show has come and how all the kids have grown up now. So excited for see your next reactions.😊

And when he was trying to figure out what song was running through his head after he and Amy temporarily broke up.
as much as I'm enjoying Big bang, I like young sheldon more. They had no business in making a prequel this good! I love this and your reaction, Cody! This show feels so good yet so funny at the same time!

I like how this show is a lot more heartfelt, sure BBT has it's moments, but as you continue throughout young sheldon you'll see that it's a lot more family oriented and that's what I love ❤️
When this show came out me and my parents made it a habit to watch it together, bit I was just finishing High School so I wasn't too enthusiastic about it, but looking back I wish I had because we genuinely had fun and laughed at it so I wish I had done it more
Young Sheldon is something that both I and my mother, along with an elderly neighbor friend enjoy watching together. It's good because there aren't a lot of shows that we both enjoy, as our tastes vary pretty widely.
He is a mighty little man

It's kind of sweet that we see Tam's life in reverse, starting from him being a happy family man in BBT, then hearing his troubled past here.

I believe Radio Shack is still in business as an online retailer. They just closed their brick and mortar stores. Sheldon was seen playing a keyboard a couple times on The Big Bang Theory.
i think they nailed the casting for this show, especially Sheldon and Missy, you can really see the older actors in them even if they are not related by a 1000 miles, really impressive.

I actually agree with you that Creation and Evolution aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. On the contrary, there is potential scriptural support for both the Big Bang Theory and Evolution. It isn't something most Christians recognize, but it is there for those open-minded enough to look into it.
True. Up until around 1950, most scientists believed something called the Cosmological Constant; basically that the Universe has always existed, more or less as it is today.
But when the Big Bang Theory first started gaining traction, many scientists resisted it at first, because it "sounded too biblical"! They used that exact phrase.
I grew up in the 60s going to Catholic school and we were taught evolution. The nuns explained that at the time when the Bible was written people understood that God created the universe but didn't have the science to explain it. Science doesn't disprove God as the Creator.

I loved this first season. The only thing that threw me off is the Doctor who attended to George Sr in the 3rd episode is the same one from the TBBT who shows up a few times. It’s nothing major but it’s just funny to me lol
Whoa! I wasn't expecting Young Sheldon reaction so soon! This is gonna be a fun ride!
personally, i think the first two seasons of this show were at their best watchability when it was airing right after the last two seasons of big bang (for context i think the CBS lineup was 8-8:30pm for big bang and 8:30-9pm for young sheldon), especially in the case of this show’s season 2 finale airing right after the final big bang episode for reasons you will see later. but i think it is cool that now with streaming you can just binge all of big bang and start right away with young sheldon because now you’re seeing the context of his early life that he’s always talked about now that adult sheldon has achieved everything he’s ever dreamed of. the running theory is that this narrator sheldon is a much older sheldon than the one we last see in “the stockholm syndrome” bc he’s speaking with a bit more maturity than usual. sheldon stated in one big bang episode that an autobiography was something he wanted to start after winning the nobel prize, so people including i believe that young sheldon is exactly that. there’s other pieces of info narrator sheldon gives later that you will see which gives more evidence for that, but for now i’m super excited for this journey. i lowkey prefer this series over big bang simply from a narrative perspective, and it’s only going to get better from here for sure

So excited to see you finally reacting to this, although still not stated in either show, you can see more of his autistic tendencies, I like how even though just like with the big bang theory, they don't outright say that Sheldon is autistic or has OCD tendencies, but it's just sort of shown through the way he acts, which I think is really great to do, because by not directly acknowledging it different people can see Themselves and Sheldon, not to mention his mum saying that she never had him tested so we don't actually know what his disability is.

This show is best enjoyed by not holding too tight to the need for consistency between this and the Big Bang Theory. On its own, the characters are mostly great.

Its like I said before, she can be very Funny and she can still be a total Smart-@$$
The cast does an amazing job especially Sheldon's actor he plays Sheldon SO DAMN well he had BETTER got an emmy award whatever he deserves it he literally play Sheldon the LEARNING robot very well lol also something to note if you didn't know is there aren't any laugh tracks at all so if your someone who gets annoyed by too much use of it there's none so literally anything crazy funny or stressful emotional etc will be in there
I do actually prefer that this show is not a actual sitcom, its a lot easier to feel the emotions and the really have a connection with every character when you dont have the laughing tracks on the back telling what you should and shouldnt find funny ya know. I love the big bang theory but sometimes they would put the laughing track on stuff that i truly was so sad to see happen to the characters instead of finding it funny

The meemaw character is also different than the one in TBBT. Vastly different.

On most shows, I go back and forth on who my favourite characters. But with Young Sheldon, it’s a tie between George Sr and Missy.
