That idea where you threaded the line through the holes in the flange is genius! I have wanted to make a trimmer similar to this one with a cordless grinder but I hadn't found a way to mount the trimming line. Thanks!

I modified my three blade weedeater head with three reciprocating saw blades. When I was a land surveyor we used a Shindawa it's a weed eater with a saw blade for cutting through palmetto bushes and thick brush. Some call it a Brush Hog.
I don't know y but this makes me smile, cuz it's cool,it's obvious that u have talent and imagination my friend, I see it as cool mechanical art

Pretty cool concepts, that's a very powerful trimmer. It must weigh a bit more than even a gas powered unit.
Use Shark line (.025) instead of the yellow plastic crap. Shark line is a very resistant high-end nylon and turns out to be cheaper by the yard. Really enjoyed your version of this build. Really cool.

Keep the grinder hacks coming there's multiple applications for an angle grinder that needs to be found👍
You may add a dimmer switch to increase or decrease the speed and enhance the life of the angle grinder.
Because the tool is'nt made to do that remember allow cool the unit several minutes to avoid damage by overheating. Awesome project and you gave ideas for me in this video. thanks from Panamá.

Now that definitely qualifies as Extreme!!! I like how ye showed the evolution of the design, as well. (Of course, my approach to this need would've been just to not trim the yard, but... Hahaha...)

my lawn mower died this weekend. i almost did this with a bigger motor. ALMOST!!!, rebuilt the carb instread. but if it happens again next year. your idea will be put to work on a slightly bigger scale. haha.

Great idea but only for those of us who already have an equipped metal workshop with all tools and instruments and a great body of a heave weight lifter. For the rest of us a Honda grass clipper will do the job.

interesting, any input on what the performance difference is between that and a "proper" gas powered string trimmer?
i have do this 10 years ago, my version able to attach whell on it and using speed controlable bosch grinding machine. it just take half speed to use as grass cutter.

very cool! I've always thought I could make a stump grinder using the angle grinder but have never come up with a good cutter head design.... one that won't bite off too much and could handle some diet too. Cheers

Just a tip. Your MIG welder has to much splatter which means ur heat is up to high lower it a bit down.
