  • Trans 333km ultra marathon race across Niger. Deep in the Sahara in one of the poorest and most dangerous countries on earth, an ultra marathon takes place. A 333km non stop running event across the barren desert!
    Lisa Tamati, an ultra marathon runner from New Zealand and Gerhard Lusskandl of Austria are featured in this documentary as they competed in this event.
    Lisa suffered debilitating food poisoning only hours into the start of the event and struggled hour by hour to keep going while Gerhard led the field in this gruelling event.
    This raw depiction of an extreme endurance event will have you enthralled. Filmed in German with English subtitles.
    Produced by Thomas Zeller of Filmgut studios in Austria.

I am so very very average as an athlete but by just believing you can and putting one foot in front of the others and learning all the tips and tricks along the way you can so far. 16:30 "Organisation ein bisschen chaotisch - aber das gehört zum Abenteuer dazu" --> ???
    Sahara - Sandsturm - Versorgungsprobleme - Dehydrierung - Orientierungslosigkeit --> Lebensgefahr!!!
    Wie blauäugig kann man denn nur in so einem Chaos herumstolpern?
    Den Organisator, Alain, hätte ich vermutlich irgendwo in der Wüste ausgesetzt ;)

      thanks so much Raphael, appreciate your kind words. Yes it wasn't my favourite race, so tough and getting food poisoning really made it hell on earth. @@RaphaelIgrisianu congratulations that is super super fast. We all have races as you saw in the movie when things dont go to plan its part of pushing the limits. But if we get back and go again, we learn and grow and get wiser. You must be very talented to run that fast

    So this was actually in 2006? I thought you had done it in 2017 per the posting date. Why an 11 year wait to post it? Have you gone back an attempted to finish the entire race? If you have, has the event's organization, food etc improved?

      das ist durchaus nicht typisch französisch, das ist ganz einfach dieser Typ. Wenn ich den Marathon des sables in Marokko dagegen sehe. Top Organisation und obwohl die auch französisch ist, wird englisch gesprochen, es sind Ärzte vor Ort, bis auf´s kleinste Detailschen alles durchorganisiert. Meinen größten Respekt, Lisa !
