Fun fact: Not that POR fans give two sh*ts about the Grammy’s New Kid in Town was one of their 6 Grammys they won both before and after their “Time Out” after the Long Run tour. They were part of the soundtrack of our lives for Boomers and even GenX. They are a solid piece of the three favorite playlists I’ve accumulated. I probably hear two Eagles songs a day from their whole career catalog of music and probably one or two from their solo works. JD was a true inspiration. A song writers, song writer. Great interview. Guys you NEVER had to worry about The New Kid in Town, turns out the true threat was right there simmering in your midst. Still you gave us pure joy.
I know. Saw them twice during the Hell Freezes Over tour. Without Frey, it’s just not the Eagles anymore. Especially at the prices being charged for tickets to see replacements. Not worth it.
Oh, SHYTE! J.D. Frikkin Souther! I was over here racking my brain, thinking, "What freaking Eagle is THIS!?" Man, "You're Only Lonely" is a song that can't be fawked with. 👍 Goddamn masterpiece!
I recently heard JD's acoustic rendition of this song on WDET. The Don Was Motor City Playlist. I liked it more than the Eagles studio version. The song is on RUclips. It's worth a listen.
@@jeemjeem6190 Hah, also from MI. Thanks, I'll give it a listen. I know it's not quite the same subject, but as far as covers that might blow you away, I recently saw Suzanna Hoffs sing Different Drum by Linda Ronstadt. I hated the original growing up, but Suzanna made it something else. If you look it up, you want the crappy, live cell phone recording where its just her on stage with an acoustic guitar, and some dude sitting in a chair.
Interesting that in their 20s, they were already looking back at the new kid in town. I have wondered why all of the bands from that era, who are still touring haven't come up with any new songs relating to the perspective of life as they have aged. There must be lots of material there. Life lessons they've learned, people they've met and lost. Family and what they hope for the last quarter of their lives. The only retrospective song I can recall from an older generation singer was Johnny Cash singing "Hurt".
Eagles still tour on and off. Many of the original "corporation" are gone or not members anymore. Joe Walsh is NOT an original nor is part of the "corporation" of originals who make all the money and royalties. One original had to sue the others.
I'm not even an Eagles fan but, damn, that's a brilliant song.
Thank you. J. D. Souther was a Renaissance Man and an enormous talent.
The Eagles never had anything to worry about. Great melodies and thoughtful harmonies never go wrong.
Wrong Eagles sucked by the mid to late 70s. JD was a good songwriter
@@tw364yeah, it’s fair to say that it was JD who made things happen after a while.
I love Souther. I learned complex harmony singing from his duets with Lovely Linda.
R.I.P. JD
New Kid in Town, favorite Eagles song!! RIP JD and Glenn.
I'm forever grateful to this legend for contributions to music.
What a great recording
And that's exactly how I understood this song. Love their music..
You’re Only Lonely was a masterpiece. Miss ya JD.
Yeah...that song is badass...ballad or not
I knew it was JD because I know what he looks like. ☺️
I was sad to see him go. 😞

JD was a great songwriter and a damn fine singer.
What it must be like to hear your life’s work wherever you go.
AM radio baby
So glad I got to see the Eagles in 2015 before the tragic death of Glenn Frye
Same. Saw them in 2009. What a show. Sounded immaculate.

@@WolfRun59youre buying the legacy of the Eagles now. There are bands still touring who have no original members. Pretty soon its gonna be the Eagle.
This is by far my favorite song by the Eagles.
Definitely top 5 for me

@@jeemjeem6190Going to find it. ✌️
My favorite Eagles song
What an album 😱
Cheers 🍷
🤙🤙
Always heard it was about NHL player Don Murdoch. I guess that tale was a tall one…or history is just rewritten by the survivors.
JD is definitely missed.
Well I was far off! I figured just a new person in the neighborhood getting all the attention!? Not far off I guess. ☯️☮️

You really need to consider adding necessary context to every short, brother. Not everyone is going to magically know who these people are.
Go find the full video. It's not that hard. These are teasers as much as anything else.
Quarter-life crisis. 😂
