It's so weird how Sseth will say some really helpful and insightful things like "Don't feel obligated to grind, you'll just get burned out and have no fun" or "Correct your sitting posture" right after a batshit insane tangent about the concept of flight being an elaborate hoax
War Thunder is a spectacular game if you are interested enough in the vehicles and you have time and money to spare. There's 10 years of models, textures, stats, flight models, armor models... everything in this game that they've built up which, at this point, no other game can fully match. But you pay for every second of it if you want to break out of low tiers, either with your time and sanity or with your wallet. I fucking love this game but I only recommend it to those with time, money, and the ability to take bad matches and experiences in stride. The highs are as big as the lows.
Yeah I've been committing heavy into Naval for a bit and enjoying it a lot actually. The SL gain in that is pretty nice, and with auto-repair turned off I can cycle through different nations until I make enough to manually repair them with profit still, until I stop and let them self-repair so they are cheaper.
War thunder is great. It takes even my most open minded, kind hearted friends sigh…take a deep breath…and scream FUCK CHINA. STUPID GODDAMN TANK! And then they respawn and keep playing. It’s like installing a game that gives you Tourette’s but only when you play it.

The funny part of the console babies comment is that since PC is by far the biggest part of the player base, it also has the biggest percentage of scrubby casuals playing. Most console players will play it, find out about the games massive learning curve, and quit. I played on both PC and Xbox but actually settled on Xbox since all the super grindy events are made easier by paying for a 999 golden eagle booster that lets you earn unlimited items that you need (PC players have a limited amount they can earn) at a faster rate to finish the events faster and get all the vehicles with less grinding(PC players can usually only get 2-3 out of 3-4 vehicles on offer). Console peasants don't get access to Gaijin's trading and selling marketplace so they gave them the buyable boosters to make up for it and rake in even more money. Also, Xbox and PlayStation support keyboard and mouse for most games so there goes that PC advantage.
Been playing it almost since release. So good sides: arcade mode is fantastic, sim is in a mixed state but with friends it can be fun, PVE is enjoyable and will hopefully improve with new modes that are annoucned, regular updates and patches, good damage models , good performance even on lower end PCs thanks to good optimization, fun to play with friends, sounds get changed a lot but they are often fucking amazing it even beats some of the old battlefield games for quality effects. Cons: one of the most predatory loot box systems for years , predatory events intentionally sabotaged by devs, P2W to extreme(especially in the ability of premium vehicles to magically outperform their normal tech tree versions or take no damage from hits), premium matchmaking hidden behind an open layer of premium matchmaking, you need to pay to get good progression and be protected from losing money in matches, devs and content creators push "realistic" mode which is trash mode populated by low skill and very toxic players , realistic is a gamemode where you graphic settings give more of an advantage then any skill or what you use, cheater problem which has been persistent for years but thankfully most seem to be stuck in realistic in the last couple of years, copy paste issue that has grown worse in the last year and half where the devs give a nation "new" vehicles which are all copy pastes of existing one and meanwhile the iconic historical ones for that faction do not get added in favour of foreign ones, the post battle repair and ammo cost mechanics are actively detrimental to the gameplay, low amount of match types, PVE mode is heavily rigged to make players go broke instead of being actively playable and enjoyable mode, etc. This is a very short list of cons
