When I awoke this morning, I knew nothing of Ultimate Warrior but that he was a wrestler back in the day who cut crazy promos & didn't like Hulk Hogan. Now, after watching many of his videos, I found myself profoundly affected and moved in a way that has not happened in memory. And then, I began to shed tears at the loss of this incredible individual. Farewell, Warrior. Even from beyond the grave, you still inspire and change lives. I doubt mine will ever be the same.
A few years ago I was so lost and didn’t know what to do with school. My fears of failure and not being good enough paralyzed me in even attempting it. Warrior’s speech about building my “wall of bodies” and having absolute belief in my destiny, facing that mtherfker in my way obstructing me from that destiny no matter its stature…it really pumped me up and made me believe that it was possible. Especially the speech he gave that there’s no sign on the doors that say I’m not welcome or not allowed in. Putting in the hard work and facing it bravely with courage…here I am on graduation day today and even going on to graduate studies. Thank you, Ultimate Warrior. You certainly changed peoples lives while you were here on this earth and still continue to change them.

James Brian Hellwig was a highly intelligent, insanely passionate, strong minded person who was gone too soon! Still motivational to this day. He was the reason i took up bodybuilding.

One of the things that Warrior says that I so relate to are his constant references to his level of intensity and the alienation that people who have that kind of intensity often experience. I think there was and is a "disciple" breed of people who understand this and most people will never have a clue what it's about. They'll only interpret him as a psychopath and if you're one of those disciples, that's how they have been interpreting you as well. What Warrior did, was put the frustration of the Warrior-Breed into words that only those who live that path can relate to because we simply can't live our lives as conformists who accept their own limitations as gospel. Most people conform not only to their respective cultures, but also to the place that is chosen for them by their brethren...whether that place is good or bad, high or low. They would never even dare to challenge that place that is chosen for them. If that place is too unbearable for them to live because of the pain it causes, they usually wind up suicides or death as a result of substance abuse. But the majority just silently conform and do as they're told. There was always a reason why I loved what Warrior stood for and I'm just now articulating it into speech. Truth is, no one I know of speaks such truths the way that he does without sugar-coating anything. It's not self-help nonsense about trying to make you feel better. It's not gooey bullshit replete with a narrative that suggests you just have to believe in yourself so you can function in their world. He's clearly saying, "fuck their world". Don't try to fit into it. Don't even give a fuck about it. Live your life as it's true to you. Fill your head with knowledge and your body with strength. Only when you ignore and grow above all the distractions that they will create for you can you really find out who you are. It's the boldest and most empowering message I've ever heard.
