I love what you guys are doing for Ecuador, for Americans, and for you families. I aspire to be like you guys. I am a 28 year old Ecuadorian born mechanical engineer. I grew up in the US and was fortunate enough (all thanks to my parents) to get my Mechanical Engineering degree at Virginia Tech. Having been out of school for 7 years now, I have realized that I am tired of living in the matrix. Everything my generation was promised has turned out to be a complete and utter sham. Como siempre digo, todo en los estados unidos es una pantalla. Meaning, everything in the US is hollywood and a facade. Once you look behind the curtain and realize how every single system is a scam designed to take advantage of people, you begin to loose all hope. I have no aspirations for a future in the US. With all that being said, my aspiration is to move back to Ecuador with my partner, build ourselves a house, and use everything I have gained in the US to help my family and our community. I have very solid ideas/dreams that I am trying to get moving for when I move back. I would love to be able to start a friendship with Abundant Living Ecuador so that I can make my impact in Ecuador more far reaching. Hope to talk to you guys soon!

I remember in one of the podcasts he had made the comment that they were missing the family and the fact that they don't have the same support for the family their friends enjoy back home. I read he went to Canada to visit but I don't remember him ever taking a vacation this long. I saw a food cost video posted 4 days ago but not sure if it was prerecorded before he left.
As a parent I'd just like to say that Jesse has nothing to apologize for. That wasn't a malicious lie, it was being a parent. I would have done the same thing!
The last thing in the world I want to do when I get there is be an Ugly American. The last year has been highly stressful, and I'm feeling pretty beat up. It's going to take a while for me to unwind and open up. Any patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated.

Its an interesting subset of humanity here in Vilcabamba. The Abundantes are connected, but being familiy patriarchs they don't hang with just everyone. One expat group here, sadly, has the bottle habit. No, not water, not milk. they have removed themselves from the northern hemisphere but can't escape that bottle. Here they can hang out on the sidewalk and pickle themselves every night. I don't drink. That habit skipped a generation with me. Gracias a Dios. I don't make a moral judgement. But sometimes I hang with los borrachos while I nurse a coke. The natives don't like the scene but they leave it alone....as long as its contained. The cops last evening just walked past. it was saturday night. there are many options here for living. A rich family life. an interesting mix of people for us old folks to socialize with. or, if you must, a drunken stupor every evening in a public space. You can not be free anywhere and not be free in mind. Ecuador del sur isn't a magic solution just a warm, afordable, unique, welcoming opportunity for better living. gopherit !

Don't you think that's something important that should be mentioned when you're trying to get people to move to Vilcabamba? I heard about this on another RUclips channel that I was listening to last night. The content creator wasn't the source. It was someone who was also listening who mentioned it.

Biggest hurdle is in the mind. Overcoming the fear and “well meaning” concern of your closest friends and family.
