Dr. Peterson, I want to thank you from the depths of my soul. I recently overcame a 10 year long opioid addiction, with this last year being a catatonic fentanyl zombie. Your videos saved my life! Your words gave me the courage to face my demons and by the grace of God I won. I don't know if I could have done it without your wisdom, and I am truly humbled and grateful for every word.

met Dr Saad once in Montreal; he was with his family walking home after grabbing food. I was so shocked; his daughters were laughing at me for being star struck at their dad. He took a picture with me. That was one of my favorite experiences in Montreal.

About halfway through this interview, I realized the answer to Dr. Saad's question to Dr. Peterson's, on why Jordan Peterson is more controversial. Once Dr. Saad explained that he's not religious, that's the answer right there. The war that we face in this world is a spiritual war and they won't attack those that deny God, nearly as much as they as those that proclaim the one true God.

How many people watch these discussions of his once carefully, then sleep on it a few days then rewatch to really sink it in. It really takes 2 watches with a 3 to 10 day rest between them to really drill in the concepts. I loved his college lecture series. OMFG. I enjoyed Dr Saad's previous book, a wonderful survey of how far Western culture has sunken into the limitations of political correctness and 'Woke' degradation. The degradation of the 'scientific method' into a grant funding competition for which teams get the cream, by supporting the ideas of their paymasters is truly a dangerous and despicable state of affairs.

In one day I went from hardcore atheist to "knowing" that the divine perception has substance, for me discussing religion is to discuss a out of context proxy for the "Divine other". Such an interesting and thought provoking conversation. It's always interesting to hear different perspectives, valid perspectives, it broadens and helps develop your own perspective of life and finding meaning in your life. I have to laugh though on the subject of the supernatural. I would be so fascinated to see these two gentlemen spend the night in the offices I work in. It's a house converted into office space and we definitely have some paranormal entity. It's a young, playful energy. The majority of us have experienced it, I have on numerous occasions. The men in the office are hard hat, safety boot wearing men and they've all experienced. It's more active in the Summer months. Our Spring is just starting and one of my colleagues who's been a great sceptic said to me today, there really IS an Oomie (Afrikaans for little Uncle) here. Yep! And when we put our Christmas decorations up it becomes even more active. Whoever gets there first in the morning to unlock always says 'more Oomie' (Morning Oomie). If it's me I always set the alarm off, my key gets stuck in door or something and after the loud woowoowoo of the alarm I always say 'jammer Oomie - dis net ek!' (Sorry Oomie - it's just me). And yes take responsibility for yourself, your actions, your thoughts, your happiness and fulfilment.

Yeah, it seems he's focusing only on one aspect of the topic.
Just because some people misuse it, it doesn't mean it's a bad thing per se.
This is by the way his own way of thinking regarding what is referred to as toxic masculinity: it's not that just because some men misuse their masculinity that we need to wage a war against masculinity itself.
I think he might have seen too much of the misuse of anonymity, but the same could be said about some of the women who now say ''kill all men'' just because all their exes were douchebags.
And it's not like I have any problem with stating my name and surname (Mathias Dingenouts, not that it's supposed to mean something to the general public), but I want this to be a choice and not something that's always out there 100% of the time.
I don't go presenting myself to everyone I cross my path with, so why should I do this on the internet which is a lot worse than real life?
I agree with the ''put your name to it'' argument, but not everything can be explained away with that.

    • @Gotz_the_iron_hand
      @Gotz_the_iron_hand Год назад +4

Jordan is like J Jonah Jameson from the Spider-Man comics in this. Jameson's personal life was ruined by a man in a mask, therefor all masked men must be up to no good, and it can never be that a mask can serve a good purpose.
Jameson, in most versions of the story, is a man with a heart that wants good, but who hates anonymous vigilantism so much, that he ends up enabling really bad people who don't mind putting their name on something, and even helps fund and create villains at certain points.
Jordan personally experienced attacks by anonymous people, he's now carrying a chip on his shoulder for them that clouds his vision. In many things, he carries wisdom, but like all men, he has blind spots. In many Spider-Man versions, Jameson does wake up to the reality that Spider-Man is actually a good guy, but it takes him being beaten over the head with reality over and over again for it to sink in.
I think, in reality, this may be ever harder for Jordan to grasp now, because we're not talking fiction that gets wrapped up with a neat little bow, and we're not talking about someone focusing their bias on a single target.
Jordan will always be able to reinforce his bias, because there will always be bad actors hiding behind anonymity for him to point to and say "See, see?". In the same way that, with hundreds of millions of guns in circulation, there will always be people who misuse them to bring harm, anti-gun types can point to those, completely ignoring the lives saved by guns, because that's harder to quantify in statistics.
The idea of put your face with your argument or it's meaningless is emotional nonsense. Either the argument has legs (is based in fact) or it doesn't.
This kind of thing is almost the same as people who would ridicule a man for being beat up by a woman, yet, if he ran, would also berate him, if he fought back against a female attacker, would then despise him, and if he stood there and got killed somehow, would be appalled, but quickly push him out of mind, and allow their bias to give her a lesser sentence for the crime of murder than a man.

      Dear Dr. Peterson,
I intentionally wrote down my full name with the specific intention of proving that for a lot of people this has nothing to do with cowardice. It has to do with privacy as a fundamental right.
Saying that valuing anonymity is just about cowardice is like saying that if you don't give all of your information to the government it's solely because you have something to hide.
This might not be a sophisticated comparison, but it should get the point across.
It may be true for some people for whom it is indeed about cowardice, but going ''scorched earth'' on it negates a whole lot of other principles that we all valued dearly up until the internet came along.
I have always stated clearly my opinions and honestly I gladly paid for the consequences of it.
I publicly stood against covid mandates, against unregulated illegal immigration, against both racism towards minorities and against anti-west rhetorics, against both communists and against fascists, against both government encroachment and against nihilistic anarchists.
I had heated debates, I got beaten by a gang because I openly defended someone who was being wronged, I lost friends and family members, refused job opportunities and much more.
I've always spoken my mind openly and I've always been happy to pay for the inevitable consequences, because that's part of the deal of doing your best of being truthful with yourself and with everyone else.
*And I would do it all over again if I had to.*
I am working on plans for the near future, which would inevitably entail becoming a somewhat public figure here in my country and I'm already preparing myself for the inevitable abuse that the internet will throw at me. And I'm fine with that. But if someone is not a *public* figure, he or she is therefore a *private* figure and has therefore the right to be exactly that. *Private.*
This doesn't mean you don't stand for anything you value, it just means you exercise the right to choose when and when not to put on the internet your information.
I hope I managed to explained myself a little bit better, because as someone who looks up to you due to all the things I learned from your work, being so badly misunderstood isn't exactly a pleasant experience. Not that I'm new to being misunderstood by people I care about.
But I won't accept being falsely accused of being a ''coward'' after all I've went through precisely not to be one.
I will still continue to follow your work because there are a lot more things we agree than disagree on. But I hope you'll take in consideration what I tried to explain in this comment.
I wish you a blessed day,
      Greetings from Milan, Italy.

Courage is indeed rare, recently someone notified me that it's much more rare than i thought. I always assumed it was my own personality that caused degeneracy and prevented others from being courageous. I'm somewhat relieved JP also didn't know it was so rare and learned that somewhat recently.
In todays age there are cyberspace occupied by many sadistic, low value narcissists who try to victimise a lot of people, especially women. I'm lucky my case wasn't so bad compared to the degeneracy i read about. I learned that these spaces are full of users who will watch streams and data of victims but feel no inclination to do anything about it. They much rather are silent little cowards. These cyberspaces are like a totalitarian state. People will listen and compulsively join or stay quiet, and feel fine about that. 1 in maybe 100 condones it, despite psychopaths being 3%. This baffles me, but it also forces me to realize its not me, its the effect caused by people sitting in a cyberspace and turning into silent gutless animals.

I’m a 26 years old Iraqi clinical pharmacist. My name is Serraa Khaphají. And this is a message to Dr. Peterson.
I’ve been a student to your teachings since 2017, and I cannot help but agree with the majority of what you teach, share, voice and believe. The reason that got me to comment today is this: I’ve overheard my parents watching an Iraqi interview between a tv show host and an activist, discussing the concept of the ‘social gender’, and the conspicuous opinion -now- that gender includes the social, psychological, cultural and behavioral aspects of both biological genders and ‘supposedly’ other gender-identity. This ideology is being openly discussed here in Iraq, on the political front, but not yet socially. Us Iraqis have the not-so-intellectual attitude to care about ‘trend’ a little bit more than necessary, and to be entirely honest, I am terrified.
Iraq has been the closest thing to the host of multi-angled totalitarian despotism ever since 1978, or maybe before that. Politically, religiously, and socially, Iraq has been abused far than what’s imaginable, and it is not getting any better, not with this. Why? is the Left absolutely scared of their ‘theory’ falling out of proportion to the point they have to push it to another country to support it? Why this? People here have been confused as it is about raising their children since the 80’s, and I know it never looked like it was getting any better (at-least across my personal lifespan), but this? This where our politics still doesn’t accept homosexuality?
I always agree with your notion about specifying a place to stay the hell away from, I never thought though, that this place would be my country, not to this extent.
I hope this gets discussed by intellects like you, who search and seek the truth, and I hope you see this, because truly, never have I felt before to this degree, that things are spilling uncontrollably out of hands.
    Thank you…

... Hi Serraa ... i admire the articulation in these videos too ... I don´t read books and have always had trouble reading any book front to back, apart from The BFG (short for The Big Friendly Giant) is a 1982 children's book written by British novelist Roald Dahl ... and also Animal Farm, which is a beast fable, in the form of a satirical allegorical novella, by George Orwell, first published in England in 1945 ... these books have quite an appeal ... I have great difficulty mixing science and politics and we saw this occur with COVID, as that soon became more controversial as the months went by ... i still find the science a problem with the grief response or traumatic loss, having been trying to work through my own grief response for over 20 years, after losing my mother to a brain disorder, tonic clonic epilepsy... i then became disillusioned by therapuetic interventions with SSRi medication and Fluoxetine, and I wouldn´t regard them as anti-bereavement drugs particularly ... I gather the grief response is more an art than a science per se, as all interventions failed for me ... and I still haven´t found a complete solution ... I would add that the concept of ‘socially constructed gender’ is new to me, as I don´t watch the news nor am I in the education fields to know what is happening ... although just hearing the term for the first time gave me doubts that ‘socially constructed gender’ is 100% reliable terminology ...
