Back in the seventies and eighties I flew Schweitzers in the US. Now I fly RC and notice that all of these modern sailplanes have wings that bend upwards in flight providing a great deal of dihedral/polyhedral. My RC sailplanes are polyhedral designs and have no ailerons. In these modern gliders could you fly turns with rudder only and still remain coordinated?

With the newer/all gliders that is basically impossible. They need to be piloted in a very coordinated way to stay the most efficient and not slip or even falling into a spiral.
For acknowledging/feeling the slip gliders have a very primitive but very effective “instrument” that is mounted on the outside of the cockpit, and what im talking about is just a simple piece of yarn taped to the canopy that shows the direction of the moving air around the glider, so what glider pilots do is try to have that yarn in the center throughout the whole turn so I could say that its probably the most “used” out off all the instruments because its directly in the center of your FOV and its basically the most reliable.

Majority of ships seems D-(German) registered. Why that? Easier to register and do annual inspection?
On the other hand most German gliders with instrumentation beyond basics sport LX-NAV or LX Navigation from Slovenia🙃

Slovenian CAA implements regulations way too soon than needed. And Germany is the biggest market, nobody from Germany is buying a glider other than D- registered

Ralph Steenstra thanks, rgd. music- limited with copyrights so not always possible to use what you want... but in any case music taste differs and is a very subjective thing ;)
