Let there be rock Live at Donnington...Chris stamina, technique, power...not even death metal drummers can keep those 16th notes on the hi-hat with such perfection and power for so long...great fucking drummer, Cheers mate!!!
I saw AC/DC in 92 with Slade. Razors edge album, It was great. Im a harsh critic too but It was the best show I've ever seen. I've seen a lot of Legendary bands, AC/DC is the best. Hands down
How good is it not to hear a guy with both feet on the ground , sharing some good memories , and sharing it with out lift him self , just enjoying playing the drums who ever it was with !! Thanks for sharing Mr Slade, appreciate it big-time !! Cheers mate....
Classy guy. He has nothing bad to say about anyone. Think about the situation this guy has been in for 30 years. Hey Chris, we need you ready to play for AC/DC at any time if Phil falls apart. But the second Phil is ready to go again, you are out again. Can not be easy to operate that way.
If I had a rock band and could have any drummer I wanted it would be Chris Slade, the best drummer to ever swing a stick, Rock and Roll will never die 🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸
Great drummer w/all who he has played w/over the years, but the groove between Malcolm, Cliff, and Phil will never be copied, replicated, or reproduced, ever! One of THE best rhythm sections EVER!!! RIP Mal!
Something that is very much overlooked is Rudd's tom sound which has been lost somewhat over the never ending "remastering" of their albums, I am fortune enough to own original Albert cd's that are 29 years old & are sonic perfection to my ears
@@mikeforte7585 I always preferred Chris to Phil because Chris has a much more pleasant personality his joy of playing is incomparable Phil is too little demonstrative
@Ivan the werewolf Except when he plays "let me put my love in to you" I'm sorry but Phil is a lot less cheerful and smiling than Chris there is no picture and everyone agrees to say it...You really have to be a die-hard Phil fan to not admit it lol
No offense intended mate but you may be missing the point of what AC/DC is about, they are probably the best outright rock band on the planet. And Phill Rudd does it better than anyone simply because he keeps the tempo but adds "swing" to the beat while Slade just pounds on his kit like there is no tomorrow, It's a trick where Rudd is a bit behind the beat which brings out the impact of the guitars a bit & Slade is just slamming away on every pick stroke which is basic Cock Rock
I first saw Chris Slade in the mid '70s in Philadelphia with Manfred Mann's Earth Band. He was amazing. I think he can play any genre of music and play it superbly. 👍
I got to see Chris Slade drumming for Gary Numan in New Orleans in 82. It was a cruise on the Riverboat President and one of the loudest shows Ive ever been to. Such a Night 🎭
I’d like to add to the comments speaking to the Donington performance with Chris. The drumming was classic AC DC rhythm, but the facial expressions are great. I’d love to know about the look he made, while watching Angus at stage left, during The Jack.
How long is that though you could be 14 which means you have listened to them for 2 years lol, just sayin' I will always be a Bon Scott man & I am a fan of Brian, he certainly did the best he could do but has sounded like a constipated parrot live for many years now his voice is shot, hence they had to tune down half a step to accommodate him for the last 2 tours, Axl does a very good job of singing those classic songs
Mr. Slade, I know this is something silly you do in your spare time for lunch money or pub money; but if you happen to see this; I'm Mike and my wife Kathryn got you to wish me and her, as one of my gifts a Happy Anniversary. I personally thank you. That aside, I know it's in print and I think a majority would agree that you are hands down the best drummer AC/DC ever had. I believe Brian Johnson even stated as much. I know it's a business and I don't know the deals made, but I feel you were likely screwed over. Phil Rudd may have sentimental value to the Young brothers. But if they prefer to go merely on sentiment, perhaps they'll bring back Bon and Malcolm. I know, that's ugly, but you get my point, I'm sure. Anyway, thanks for the personalized video.
I think Chris Slade is a great Drummer. I was fortunate to see him play with AC/DC in Denver before Brian Johnson was dismissed from the tour because of hearing issues. The funny thing is I was looking real forward to seeing him play even though Rudd is an awesome drummer who plays with incredible feel. But so does Slade. He's done a great job with AC/DC. Hats off to him. And I've known since the 80's he used to play for Tom Jones via a Modern Drummer interview article back in the day. Now if that ain't cool I don't know what is. You rock Chris Slade.
Whenever someone says AC/DC is just a rock and roll band and not heavy metal, I think of Chris Slade's genius use of two bass gong drums at head level.
My personal fave is Chris's work with tom Jones , look it up , he does chills and fever and what I'd say absolutely awesome , Chris and bobby Elliot were my inspiration to finally resist the urge and play the drums ,I'm nowhere near as good as either of them !
Love both of them, you have 2 shit hot 2 b ac,dc different people have their own way of playing I suppose, Chris comes across as a chilled out dude and played 4 AC,DC so you are the dawgs😈😎
I love them both equally. Phil’s got the groove and that simplistic, almost gentle touch. Whereas I love Chris for his harder hitting, more explosive style of play, as well as his swiftness on the kit when playing live, like Donington for example, when he adds the fills to spice the songs up a bit while maintaining the beat. Both fantastic drummers there’s no doubt about that
I get folk prefer phil rudd but hes a waste of space and to me chris slade is a better drummer. The razors edge revived the band and look at how well the live album and live at donnington video went down and thats largely down to chris. Hope hes part of the bands next tour
His drumming on the live in donnington AC/DC concert video is legendary
100 %
Hells yes..especially during Let there be Rock
@@P3T3RXIII yes definetly, he held a 2/4 beat going at about 100mph for nearly 20 minutes
Too true
Great drumming yeah. I didn't like some of the drum sound
Live at Donnington concert was absolutely amazing with Slade on the drums.
100% agree!
Jailbreak in that concert
@@chargerfish1 right!?! And Heatseeker

OMG YES
Once you watch the Live at Donington concert, you realize Chris' drumming rules
He’s my best friends grandpa
yes 100%

Great interview. A very humble man who has played drums with the best of them.
Donnington is their best live recording and much of it comes down to Chris Slade - he is such a passionate drummer
What if said madrid would queen become gnr ???? U little shit over there
Mr. Slade this world has been so blessed with you behind the kit so humble so talented thank you Jesus
Saw him in The Firm in 1986 in L.A. Great, great show.
How good is it not to hear a guy with both feet on the ground , sharing some good memories , and sharing it with out lift him self , just enjoying playing the drums who ever it was with !! Thanks for sharing Mr Slade, appreciate it big-time !! Cheers mate....
Wonderful Person and great drummer
Met him in Luxemburg 2month ago and it was a lifetime experience and inspiration thanks mr. Slademonster

One of the best drummers walking the face of this earth,i would have loved to see him more, with the firm and yes even with ac/dc
Chris is an awesome powerhouse drummer, he beats the crap out of his kit.
Greatest Drummer ever! Chris Slade!
Tap the brakes bubby
Yes. We all know he’s better than Neil. Geezus 🙄
Saw The Firm in 1987 in Denver. Still one of the best shows I have seen.
I would have LOVED to see The Firm back then. Problem is I was 14. No concerts for you young man!
LEGEND.....Donnington 91....Loved every moment of it. Slade, your a Legend bro. RESPECT.
what a musician!
what a human being!
🇮🇹 love & support from Italy
Chris is a class act... great drummer
A great gentleman.
I was sure that Chris was a great man. This interview just confirmed it.
surely the drummer who has played with ac/dc is so damn good!!!
love him
LOV CHRIS SLADE!!!!!! MY FAVORITE DRUMMER OF ALL TIME!!!!!! THUMBS UP!!!!!:)

I love Chris Slade!! Fantastic drummer!👍
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview...
Chris rocks...
Donnington kicks ass...
A great inspiration to rock into the elder years.
Chris Slade was an absolute monster in the 90s
@HeerKommando
Nah
Chris Slade - AC/DC - Big Gun -👌👌👌
Love you, Chris.
YOU FUCKING TERMINATOR.🤟
I first saw Chris Slade in the mid '70s in Philadelphia with Manfred Mann's Earth Band. He was amazing. I think he can play any genre of music and play it superbly. 👍
That must have been great, yes he has that 'progressive' technical side to his playing which I doubt many AC/DC fans know about
One of the biggest rock stars most people don't know about. That would be the job to have.
I got to see Chris Slade drumming for Gary Numan in New Orleans in 82. It was a cruise on the Riverboat President and one of the loudest shows Ive ever been to. Such a Night 🎭
What a career.
It's more than amazing when Chris plays money talks. I really love it..
Check out Chris on all his Manfred manns earthband albums there superb and criminally underated
Angus once said words to the effect that Chris Slade was the only real musician that was ever in AC⚡️DC
Chris is awesome !!
I agree he seems so so layed
Try again!he seems so layed back, and he's drummer of AC,DC
I’d like to add to the comments speaking to the Donington performance with Chris. The drumming was classic AC DC rhythm, but the facial expressions are great. I’d love to know about the look he made, while watching Angus at stage left, during The Jack.
When he says certain things his mannerisms remind me of Keith Richards. 🥁
I’m really pissed that Chris is not with AC/DC right now! I love how he plays drums and I love the sound of thunderstruck and all of that after!
Chris Slade best
i saw chris slade in the band of gary moore keep on rocking mr slade ;-)
The Best and perfect Drummer for AC/DC
No disrespect to Phil Rudd, he helped create the sound that is ACDC. But Chris Slade sets the band on fire. Worlds of difference.
Sorry. Not on the last tour. Albeit great guy, superb drummer overall. Not on the RoB tour though.
Yeah not even close bud. Chris is not even in the same galaxy as Phil.
My grandfather was a jeweller and phisically like Chris except he wasn´t bald. I´m feeling pretty close to you as i´m a drummer too. Cheers!
Chris Slade....Absoulute respect. One of my favorites
I have been listening to ACDC since I was 12. Axel Rose don't even belong on the same stage with the greatest band ever. Rock On for ever
Jerry Burgener 10-4 on that.
ain't that the truth?
How long is that though you could be 14 which means you have listened to them for 2 years lol, just sayin' I will always be a Bon Scott man & I am a fan of Brian, he certainly did the best he could do but has sounded like a constipated parrot live for many years now his voice is shot, hence they had to tune down half a step to accommodate him for the last 2 tours, Axl does a very good job of singing those classic songs
Axl always sucked, and by the way Guns doesn't deserve their fame, there were and still are so many great and underrated bands.
Well Axl was never in actually. And now Brian is back!!
I have to meet this man someday.... There is nothing he says I don't like and wow!

You are a real cool drummer with class. My opinion is you care & respect for bands. Thank you Chris.
Legend
Chris is lovely and a gifted passionate drummer
Hes a MIF ! Is my inspiration ! Thank You Chris !
Chris Slade. Phenomenal. Such an inspiration!
Oh wow I did NOT know Chris did Backup vocals. COOL!!!!
Whenever someone says AC/DC is just a rock and roll band and not heavy metal, I think of Chris Slade's genius use of two bass gong drums at head level.
Shawn Martin AC/DC with Phil Rudd: hard rock
AC/DC with Chris Slade: metal
Chris Slade, I always thought AC/DC was at its pinnacle on the Razors Edge album. There’s a reason for that.
i dont think the word "genius" remotely comes close to explaining Malcolm. that entire band is everything good about music
After Phil Rudd Chris had to be the perfect guy for the job nothing but pure class playing with ac/dc good on ya mate
Awesome drummer 👍
Why did not he mention his work with Manfred Mann's Earth Band? The 70s were his best years.
yeah the Solar Fire period saw him opening for Uriah Heep in this time and they steal the show. this guy is a legend and a real "musician's musician.
Or indeed with Gary Numan? He and Pino Palladino were phenomenal.
Andru Pepper He did near the end
AC/DC aside it would be good to see The Firm again, even just to get Page onstage!
King Chris. King of the Dannington 👊👊👊👊
Check him out with Manfred Mann’s Earthband the band that really set him on his way
Chris Slade monster on "Drums"😎👊

ACDC with no Brian, no Malcolm, no Cliff??? WTF? This is no longer ACDC. :(

Cool it! ;-)
you forgot Phil Rudd. Slade is good but he's not Rudd.
What a sympathetic guy. 👏
Una leyenda!!!! Grande Chris Slade.
Chris is not Phil. Phil is not Chris. Both are great drummers.
best AC/DC DRUMMER
Waw maravillos ac/dc
i prefer chris over phil in ac/dc chris hits harder on the drums sounds better to my ears
nowhere near as much funk and hip as Rudd.
I love them both equally. Phil’s got the groove and that simplistic, almost gentle touch. Chris Slade - AC/DC - THUNDERSTRUCK !!

chris is a power drummer. he doesn't have phil's groove
What if Udo Dirkschneider will sing in AC/DC?
