It is great that you are helping out to those who are kind of new. Thank you!
There is a problem with the video between the 13:01 - 15:10. Recording just freezes. I refreshed the page several times thinking maybe it is about my connection but nope.
    Cheers!

HI Stephen, the reason for my wanting to learn this is because I feel my left foot is not really good at keeping time and it is weak. Thanks, good video!

Thank you so much for doing this lesson, your timing is impeccable as I have been shopping around and waiting for a decent Memorial day sale to pick out my double bass pedals.

Ahoy there! Thanks again Stephen, for holding true this channel with great lessons in upping skills on the music instruments of the ancients, or seems so from how the screens have allowed new generations to never have been updated as to the things their great grandparents lived through. With all the great lessons available I see no reason why human produced live music will go away any time soon.
That said, hooray for the teachers who have confirmed my suspicion that basic skills can indeed be trained off the kit with nothing but a chair, maybe a pair of sticks. I've been conditioning my body by tapping and slapping for a couple of decades now, Tai Ji lessons include such things so I can use my legs as practice pads and use full dynamic range. Double bass; I just started really digging into it by attempting to play along with Bill Ward, Bill Bruford in King Crimson (he only had one kick in Yes), Neil Peart and Danny Carrey and finding that what with bicycle cred under my belt also it's no problem to do the alternate notes. So yeah, martial arts and bicycle mean my left leg is just fine. I sometimes do the Stick Control patterns with feet, or between opposite limbs like especially left foot to right leg, then all the possible roll patterns. Short of it, yay! It doesn't take having my kit handy to keep advancing my skills! Just this morning I was genuinely surprised to be matching a few of Danny Carrey's chugga patterns on the first couple of tracks on Fear Inoculum.

Original first 3 albums Sabbath had Bill Ward only using one kick pedal. I've also been practicing some of his patterns cause he was really deft at left foot expression on the hats too. Think War Pigs. Bonham also, one kick and all that bounce like on Good Times Bad Times or Immigrant Song.

Indeed! Soft volume repetitions leads to great surprises when going for greater volume. Same principle I found as far back as my teens, in the late 90's, with voice where if I did enough non supported falsetto, or head voice then it was always a bit surprising how easy it was later on when going for full reinforced head voice singing Rush songs onstage with a band.

I'm into learning double bass cause my favorite kind of music to play is the hard rock and prog and metal things by the drummers previously mentioned. I dig The Cure and The Beatles and David Bowie beats a lot also, and Funkadelic, Wow, Bob Marley. But then it always feels like coming home to my native music habitat when I play along with Tool, King Crimson, Black Sabbath, Dio, Yes, that kind of thing.

TY Stephen! 16:04-16:34 RE: "Splashing" I know it is not a part of the 3 point Instruction, But it was Sooo important to ME to hear you reference "That Problem" 😂 Being honest, I always thot it was Me doing something wrong while practicing paradiddles (spelled parles in the transcript) and, oh yeah, I HATE that splashing sound. I am so Glad you made it a point to explain! TYVM!

Please fix as we have no idea what goes on for those 2 minutes.
    Thanks.

Hey your videos are really good, but holey moley you take a long time to get to the point. It’s like 8 minutes before the actually content starts.
Sorry for whining about that, your videos are top notch otherwise.

I get what you're saying and theres a lot of videos out there that have useless info and no content. However wouldnt say this one is an example of that. The intro and explainations are useful.
