As a person that loves sonic and has been a fan since I could walk, I can say that, yes, fans are very happy with the sonic movies, as they tend to have shown that listening to the fans can be rewarded with praise and that just making a Good movie that stays pretty faithful to the material is great, and with this coming out with Sonic X Shadow Generations in October makes us very happy that Sega seems to be listening to us
Seems like Sonic Team, and more importantly, SEGA, are listening. And finally going back to Shadow’s roots and reintroduce him as who he really is: an antagonist hellbent on revenge, that became a dark hero. A cold, brooding person, that cares for others deep down. Just doesn’t know *how* to show it. If he almost kills someone when you’re in harms way, he loves you deeply. For Shadow, sometimes such extremes is his best way he’s able to express it.
Fun fact! Shadow doing the Akira slide is a reference within a reference! In the Shadow the Hedgehog video game, one of the cover arts is that very pose. So them using it in the trailer is a reference to the game, which in and of itself is a reference to Akira! REFERENCE-CEPTION.
There's an extra layer: Fresh off The Matrix Revolution, Keanu Reeves was in talks to play Kaneda in potential Akira live action movie. The movie itself obviously ended up never going into production.

Project Shadow is the name of the project that Eggmans grandfather Gerald worked on. The end result of the project was Shadow the Hedgehog but it also created a lot of other things like the Bio Lizard and more. And it was introduced in Sonic Adventure 2 so no its not unique to the movie.

It honestly blows my mind sometimes that we live in the timeline where we can have a live action movie of Sonic the Hedgehog with Shadow in it, Shadow be talked about as the badass character he is, but his story NOT sound silly in a live action aspect. 20 years ago, if someone suggested that, it would've sounded and been done so cringe worthy, because it would've been done by movie executives who wouldn't have cared about the franchise and were only in it for a quick buck. Nowadays, though? Thanks to Studios like Paramount actually listening to and thinking about the fanbase of the franchise they're adapting, so much care and love is put into movies like Sonic that you can hear the line "Project Shadow is like nothing we have encountered before" from a live actor and you feel the weight of what they're saying instead of thinking "that sounds so silly, it's stupid". So glad I live in a timeline where this is possible. Granted, there are plenty of aspects of this timeline I *don't* like, but this is one of the good parts of it. Think about it: 20 years ago, do any of us think we'd have GOOD movie adaptations, both live action and animated, for Sonic, Pokemon and Mario? Hell no. We'd have told movie studios not to touch those franchises, fearing the nightmares they'd unleash on the fandoms. Now, though? We eating good on these movie adaptations

The trailer is literally perfect, it captures everything that makes the sonic games so good in the first place... And with the introduction of shadow on of the best hedgehogs ever (sorry silver your not that cool) this movie is perfection... My only complaint/wish is give my boy shadow the guns.

I thought last year was the year that I’ll lose a lot pf money to watch movies. But god damn, this year I’m over dose with movies. Deadpool & Wolverine, Sonic 3, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and Transformers One. I think the whole 2 months I can only eat instant noodles.
Most sonic fans I have seen love the movie usually the second one more as it leans more on the games. The first movie was fun but honestly felt like a generic movie that mixed Sonic into it where as the second one and this one feel are genuine Donic films. The trailer shows they are leaning pretty hard into Sonic Adventure 2's story with some changes to make it fit better.
# 0001 I'm a Shadow fan and I'm hyped for this movie based on the trailer. Don't know if Amy or Rouge will be in this. (Since the latter kinda works for G.U.N) but I hope they do. (Long comment warning) The only things that people may have some potentially small issues with are. 1. Shadows bike is supposed to be a chopper style bike like he originally had/used in the shadow the hedgehog game and even in sonic 06. it’s not supposed to be a sports bike they even made a real life shadow the hedgehog bike so I don’t know why they didn’t just use that design. But I assume there’s a reason for why it’s a sports bike he’s using. 2. Gerald robotnik (the white moustache man aka eggmans grandfather and Maria’s grandfather and shadows creator) is alive in this when he’s supposed to be dead via firing squad. 3. Maria (the girl shadow interacts with and eggmans cousin) is supposed to be blonde but she looks brunette in this but it could just be the lighting. 4. The space colony ark is supposed to be basically the Death Star but if it’s the ship that comes out of the water then thats way too small. Other than those few things and the overall SA2 story being changed which we knew was probably going to be changed for the movie version everything thing else seems good.
Chez, I do not want you to get clowned on, go back and watch the last two movies for a refresher, I had to do that as well to see how GUN was formed and how it's different from SA2
Well, I think they needed to tweak the story a bit, because if it's anything like SA2, then Sonic and Eggman DO work together to stop what is essentially Gerald's fault. So maybe Gerald is the main villain in a way, either that or some sort projection.
@isabellejoestar2455 I'm assuming maybe they've deleted the whole "space-colony ark" part as well, and just...didn't have G.U.N. act like complete dirtbags by executing Gerald as well, considering they want to present them as the "good guys" in this.
If I recall correctly, Omega and Rouge wasn't introduced until after Shadow the Hedgehog. If you see the pattern, they are following the Sonic games, as Tails and Knuckles were introduced before Shadow, and in the SA2, Amy Rose convinced Shadow to change his ways because what he was doing wasn't what Maria wouldn't have wanted. On top of that, Sonic giving Dr. Robotnik his quill in exchange for his help is definitely setting up for a Metal Sonic appearance soon.

@@hollowbrinethehollowfiedsu6365 I'm not so sure, I haven't played SA2 in a long, long time, so my memory is a little fuzzy on the order of characters, though I'll have to do a little bit of digging, but I believe that you're correct on that, but remember, trailers don't spoil everything, so it's just possible that Rouge the Bat is in there and they plan to introduce her in the movie rather than the trailer because everyone already knew that Shadow was going to be in the 3rd movie, so thats no big surprise, so it's possible that Amy Rose is in there too, we won't know until the movie is finished.
Well, Sonic giving Dr. Robotnik his quill in exchange for his help seems to be setting up a Metal Sonic appearance, or at least that's what I think from the trailer, so most likely in the 4th movie.
Enough to warrant a third with arguably the most popular character besides Sonic? Yes. First one is definitely the odd duck but it’s a fun romp. Jim Carrey carries that one and is very entertaining as Robotnik. Second one is very good and has an excellent story, though the pacing breaks at a couple of parts. Overall solid fun video game movies that you don’t need to take super seriously.
Is it? I think a lot of people are very ignorant of Sonic. The thing is huge with a lot of lore, and while there is a dedicated fanbase, most people only know superficial knowledge of the franchise.

I thought last year was the year that I’ll lose a lot pf money to watch movies. But god damn, this year I’m over dose with movies. Deadpool & Wolverine, Sonic 3, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and Transformers One. I think the whole 2 months I can only eat instant noodles.

Most sonic fans I have seen love the movie usually the second one more as it leans more on the games.
The first movie was fun but honestly felt like a generic movie that mixed Sonic into it where as the second one and this one feel are genuine Donic films.
The trailer shows they are leaning pretty hard into Sonic Adventure 2's story with some changes to make it fit better.
Yea, the movies have been a lot of fun. Some stuff clearly for little kids, but aside from that a great time for all.
So looking forward to this movie. Keanu really is the perfect choice for voicing Shadow!

The only things that people may have some potentially small issues with are.
1. Shadows bike is supposed to be a chopper style bike like he originally had/used in the shadow the hedgehog game and even in sonic 06.
it’s not supposed to be a sports bike they even made a real life shadow the hedgehog bike so I don’t know why they didn’t just use that design.
But I assume there’s a reason for why it’s a sports bike he’s using.
2. Gerald robotnik (the white moustache man aka eggmans grandfather and Maria’s grandfather and shadows creator) is alive in this when he’s supposed to be dead via firing squad.
3. Maria (the girl shadow interacts with and eggmans cousin) is supposed to be blonde but she looks brunette in this but it could just be the lighting.
4. The space colony ark is supposed to be basically the Death Star but if it’s the ship that comes out of the water then thats way too small.
Other than those few things and the overall SA2 story being changed which we knew was probably going to be changed for the movie version everything thing else seems good.

The only thing I'm questioning so far, because it's different, is why is Gerald still alive?
Well, I think they needed to tweak the story a bit, because if it's anything like SA2, then Sonic and Eggman DO work together to stop what is essentially Gerald's fault. So maybe Gerald is the main villain in a way, either that or some sort projection.
@isabellejoestar2455 I'm assuming maybe they've deleted the whole "space-colony ark" part as well, and just...didn't have G.U.N. act like complete dirtbags by executing Gerald as well, considering they want to present them as the "good guys" in this.

If I recall correctly, Omega and Rouge wasn't introduced until after Shadow the Hedgehog. If you see the pattern, they are following the Sonic games, as Tails and Knuckles were introduced before Shadow, and in the SA2, Amy Rose convinced Shadow to change his ways because what he was doing wasn't what Maria wouldn't have wanted. On top of that, Sonic giving Dr. Robotnik his quill in exchange for his help is definitely setting up for a Metal Sonic appearance soon.

@@hollowbrinethehollowfiedsu6365 I'm not so sure, I haven't played SA2 in a long, long time, so my memory is a little fuzzy on the order of characters, though I'll have to do a little bit of digging, but I believe that you're correct on that, but remember, trailers don't spoil everything, so it's just possible that Rouge the Bat is in there and they plan to introduce her in the movie rather than the trailer because everyone already knew that Shadow was going to be in the 3rd movie, so thats no big surprise, so it's possible that Amy Rose is in there too, we won't know until the movie is finished.

Enough to warrant a third with arguably the most popular character besides Sonic? Yes.
First one is definitely the odd duck but it’s a fun romp. Jim Carrey carries that one and is very entertaining as Robotnik. Second one is very good and has an excellent story, though the pacing breaks at a couple of parts. Overall solid fun video game movies that you don’t need to take super seriously.
