I didn't like the thought of jacking on my oil pan, even spreading the load, so I jacked used a piece of steel against the motor mount bracket. Worked like a charm. Probably the only repair I've ever done on this car that didn't involve something else (usually some plastic piece) breaking.
I can’t seem to get around to remove the top bolt on the mount on the drivers side I can’t find a way to fit a socket on the nut, the cars been jacked up for 2 days do you have any idea how I can get that off?
nice video, i always like to see guide before i go to mechanic....so he cant scam me....anyway what manufacturer did you use for parts ? also can you do diy for transmission mounts ? they seem to be very cheap.
xAsmir I can't remember the manufacturer for the mounts but you can go with OEM ones as their not that expensive in my opinion. I didn't do one for the transmission mounts just because they are supper easy to replace, it follows the same principal as the engine mounts. You would just need to put some support on the transmission and remove the old mounts to be replaced by new ones. Good luck!!
i replaced motor and transmission mounts, old ones were to old and hard and one of motor mounds was totally destroyed. I bought febi bilstein motor mounts for half the price of oem bmw parts and i bought vaico transmission mounts, since they dont matter that much...they were cheap as hell and takes like 5 min to replace them on 525d.

I have same problem on E34 540i air cooled alternator. removing difficult. 1994
Can you tell me if this is much different than the procedure for an 2004 545i 6 speed?
Joel Cromwell should be very similar to this procedure. Good luck!
Thank you sir. Job well done.
Good video bro.
How high up should the engine be jacked up?

Sneaky cat hid your ratchet.
