I had no idea that you were from NC that’s crazy! App ski is my home mountain. All my boys and I on the NC State Ski and Snowboard team go all the time!!
Hi friends! Can you guys help me with my first snowboarding trip? My wife has done it before but I haven’t. We live in NC and I’m trying to do research on the best spots to go that are all inclusive (I guess that’s what you would call it) where I don’t have to travel far to the slopes. Is this the best spot? Is it more than $300 per night? I’m just trying to get an idea where to go first. Are there other places that are affordable or maybe less busy? Thanks friends!! I’ve long boarded for years lol but never snowboarded. Thanks!!
@@MrGflan The slopes are enjoyable for beginners here at App, but if you want long runs go to Sugar Mountain in Banner Elk, NC. There are some vacation rental by owner homes and cabins at many of the NC resorts, but I would recommend a regular hotel no more than 10 minutes away from any mountain to save some serious money and reservation stress. Hope you find what you are looking for!
@@MrGflan the Pinnacle beside Beech is cheap and a good location. $100 a night. Drive up morning, Rent gear across from Sugar if you Rent. night Boarding session at Beech, a full day at Beech, Then a full day a Sugar otw Home. 3 day, 2 night trip. Perfect “Learn to Board Cheap Trip”
@@DaBluBarron1918 ok thank you. I know it’s a bit late in the season now. Sorry for newbie questions but what is the season in NC? What’s the latest in the year you can snowboard? Thanks
“North Carolina Raise Up,....” Way to rep where it all began for you. In my experience the best riders come smaller mountains. I think the variable conditions at the lower elevations is the magical ingredient. That plus the Park Action! #NEVERFORGETWHEREITALLSTARTED #SKILLSTHATHAVETAKENALLOVERTHEWORLD #FUNDAMENTALS 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
I learned snowboarding in North Carolina too. I went to Park City for eight days over Christmas. It had a light snow afternoon, and it had eight-inch snow on Christmas day.
Went to App St, rode probably 300+ days at App Ski Mtn while in school, haven't ridden there in over a decade after moving to the Rockies for bigger mountains. Miss the NC vibe so much. Thanks for a trip down memory lane!
I learned and snowboarded in NC from 1985 to 1995. Mostly at Beech and Hawksnest, eventually at Sugar. Appalachian had a ban on snowboarding the whole time. It's good to know that all of that BS is over for good at App. Mt. I did get to ride their once on a demo day with K2. Yeww!
Funny you stop at the same Union Cross Rd Bojangles I do on day trips :) However, it should still be dark - you have 2 hours to go. You're missing first tracks!
DANG MAN! I literally just left Boone last week!! Huge fan of you and Kevin and will be going out to whistler in February hopefully can meet up with Kevin while I am up there and show you guys what your videos have taught me. I have only been snowboarding a total of 7 days, but after watching your videos and Kevin I can fly down the mountain no problem control my speed and hit beginner tricks so thank you for the help and tips!!
Shoutout to NC. Sorry I missed yah man!!!! I’ll be up at App Ski and Sugar this week snowboarding all day every day!!!!! Shoutout to Garret!! So hype to see you on our own mountain brother!!!!!
Nice edit TJ man, nothing like riding your home mountain where you took all the spills and stomped all the successes. Solid vibes my dude, this is exactly how Timberline is for me. 🤙🏼 (good to see your boy Garrett again too, the dude rides).
This is pretty sweet to see where the foundations of a legend were laid! It reminds me alot of my home mountain, mount buller Edit: of course tj is showboating in rhe keystone hoodie 🤣
Didn't know you were from NC too man. If you're ever back this winter let's link up and rip! Most of our vids are just the crew shreddin' at App or Beech!
"the tide is loooowww"... Hahaha Garrett sounds like a Legend. Gotta be my favourite BA Vlog yet. I revisited the small "mountain" where I grew up this year as well. It was awesome, but Mt Selwyn doesn't build a park lile that tho. So sick.
So sick to see you in NC man, I spent black friday out at Sugar and I'm hitting up Beech this weekend. Keep up the great videos! I have learned so much about snowboarding from you and Kevin.
Wuuuuuut?? Im about to go boarding in North Carolina and I was worried about the conditions. but JUST SO HAPPENS that my favorite snowboarding youtuber was just there!? Best. Endorsement. Ever.
crazy that u are from NC. i make the drive from charlotte for 4 hour sessions all the time. looking to improve at park boarding. ive seen some other channels have vids get popular showing some people some tricks. we should do that.
Yo TJ, dude your riding is dope bruv. Like you kinda don't give yourself enough credit - you're good man. Side note: all three of you - you ever try a Freebord? Bro... If you live down there (I'm up in NY) then you seriously need to find one on marketplace and get the fever... Shit's crazy... It's snowboarding in the spring summer and fall B... I think you would dig it...
Is any of that snow there natural? Kind of seems like the surrounding area is completely barren, and I've never boarded further east than Colorado so I wouldn't know. I assume they at least augment their snow pack with snow-making to some extent.
Great video TJ, so nice to see Garrett again, that boy has so much steeze! - What an awesome little mountain, thanks for sharing!
:)
Glad to see the love for my home mountain!
Same ☺️
You know its gonna be a good day and you get a board archive notification
Right!!!
Such good vibes all around, chillin' with friends is where it's at!
TJ this literally your best movie ever. Glad to see u so happy
I had no idea that you were from NC that’s crazy! App ski is my home mountain. All my boys and I on the NC State Ski and Snowboard team go all the time!!
That’s awesome man! I used to be on the snowboard team at App. That was my home mountain for 6 years, love that place

Enjoyed this makes everything more relatable to my local spots
Awesome to see you come back to North Carolina! I live near Atlanta and always at Cataloochee as it's less than 3 hours away💪🏼
Same
Rep the Southeast TJ! Learned at Sky Valley (GA) but they've since closed. We will be at Whistler over Christmas to new years!
epic maybe we will see you here in Whistler! I used to snowboard at Sky Valley as well
First place I ever boarded 22 years ago!
Going down them stairs into the locker/ticket/rental area just brings back a smell you will never be able to forget 😂😂
I learned snowboarding in North Carolina too. I went to Park City for eight days over Christmas. It had a light snow afternoon, and it had eight-inch snow on Christmas day.
For the size of the place it's Lodge is massive. Looks like a fun hill!
App Ski! Both my kiddos learned to ride there. Echo Garrett's sentiment...awesome, welcoming, warm (sometimes literally!) community. Love it.
Oh shit i live in atlanta too! Im about to hit cataloochee ski resort in NC tomorrow, friday!
thats whats up! have fun
Hey man enjoy it! I've been filming a bunch of videos at Cataloochee recently as it's the easiest 3 hour drive since I live near Atlanta also💪🏼
FrankWallFitness yeah dude! Easy 3 hour drive and you get to shred! 💪🏽🤘🏽
they just have too say that that's app ski mtn in a little place called boone nc
Nice one TJ Enjoyed the flash backs...…….
Atlanta checking in! North Carolina is the closest we got!
Love the Bojangles stop! It's so awesome you made a video regarding the NC resorts!
I suck at snowboarding but My two year old is obsessed with your videos. Found out today you’re from NC. Sick!
Times like this when I feel blessed to grow up in Vermont. Go to Mount Snow
Moving out to CO from NC was a huge upgrade for me as well. Started on that very same mountain. Love App.
Also seeing bojangles... man. Miss that.
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Nice to see you Represent NC. From Charlotte, 2 hour drive every week to Sugar and Beech. First chair, tailgating, fast Laps.
Sick man I've got a lot of friends in the Charlotte area, I'll always love the resorts in NC

Bojangles is my fav. Main thing I miss in the south
:)
All those mini obstacles looked so fun! The possibilities!
So cool video! Really felt the nostalgia all the way to Norway! Keep it up😁
I love the fact that you started with a Bojangles!
I was there last night!! Sad I didn’t see you guys!!
Yoo! This was my home resort for 7 years! Learned everything I know at app
So fun to watch this. I'd be stoked to have something like this nearby!!
Funny you stop at the same Union Cross Rd Bojangles I do on day trips :) However, it should still be dark - you have 2 hours to go. You're missing first tracks!
Love the east coast vid! Would be cool if you guys did an east coast trip. Some of mountains in New England are bigger then most think.
DANG MAN! I literally just left Boone last week!! So glad to hear that man, thanks! Wish we would have caught you in Boone
Shoutout to NC. Sorry I missed yah man!!!! I’ll be up at App Ski and Sugar this week snowboarding all day every day!!!!!
Shoutout to Garret!! So hype to see you on our own mountain brother!!!!!
Thanks for sharing. I'm headed to NC on Friday from south Fl, gonna hit up App, Beech, and Sugar. Hopefully it will be good conditions for a beginner.
Awesome! I’m sure it will be great man
Nice edit TJ man, nothing like riding your home mountain where you took all the spills and stomped all the successes. Solid vibes my dude, this is exactly how Timberline is for me. 🤙🏼 (good to see your boy Garrett again too, the dude rides).
Highest mountain east of Mississippi River is in.... North Carolina! Too bad it doesn't have a resort on it. 6684' is pretty good.
I'm also from North carolina this is also my favorite because its closer to home.
Thats awesome that you were there, I was there not too long ago wish I could've met you, sweet video!
Nooooo way!!! I went to Appalachian State, took snowboarding as my PE class at app ski!
Classic! I did too haha
Come to alpine valley in Elkhorn Wisconsin. Best park you will ride
Better than Troll?
Bojangles 👐

Nice! Mid Atlantic love!! Big up Recess, Edge of the world and FlipSide crew🤘
Me too! Today is my 22nd day there this season 🙏🏽
Yooooo tight to see u back home
I was at beech that day cause I’m one of the locals, and a bunch of my friends were in the video, that was sick!
This is pretty sweet to see where the foundations of a legend were laid! It reminds me alot of my home mountain, mount buller
Edit: of course tj is showboating in rhe keystone hoodie 🤣
Yoooo
I wish Selwyn built a park that fun.
Buller is easily 4 times bigger... And 23 times more icy 😆
Chuck Van not in the park... It's prob smaller than that
@@Bad_Riders Buller's park looked legit from the brief gander I had. Didn't get the opportunity to go in tho.
Chuck Van july its ok but in the months after it shrinks... drastically
I learned how to snowboard at Appalachian too.
Sweet! I learned here too!
Whenever a Board Archive notification pop up, it brings a smile and joy to me that TJ is gonna share very enjoyfull n pretty!
this is where i bought my snowboard it’s pretty cool for the east coast
Didn't know you were from NC too man. If you're ever back this winter let's link up and rip!
Most of our vids are just the crew shreddin' at App or Beech!
love bojangles!
Love it! Didn't know you were from here!!!
Reminds me of my home resort in gatlinburg TN but we only had about 10 runs 😂

"the tide is loooowww"... Hahaha Garrett sounds like a Legend.
Gotta be my favourite BA Vlog yet.
I revisited the small "mountain" where I grew up this year as well. It was awesome, but Mt Selwyn doesn't build a park lile that tho. So sick.

No way! Man that’s awesome!!! I live in North Carolina!!!!!
Nice to see you in the area man!
Come to Big Boulder in Lake Harmony!! One of the best East Coast Parks out there!
So sick to see you in NC man, I spent black friday out at Sugar and I'm hitting up Beech this weekend. Keep up the great videos! I have learned so much about snowboarding from you and Kevin.
Thank you have fun a Beech!
Never knew you were from a small mountain Tj that’s sick that your where you are now and you started off small. Give me motivation
Can’t believe I missed you guys at Beech!!!
I was there that weekend!! Holy shit, That's awesome.
I’m going there for Valentine’s Day and never been snowboarding am I’m really excited
enjoy! it's a great place to learn
Sick vid, as always!
go to Beech all the time, shoul i check out app?
i saw that Recess board 😁
I've got a bojangles about a quarter a mile away from my shop 🤣
The lodge lets you bring your board inside? That's a big no no in new Hampshire.
Where have you been catching snow? I grew up in Alaska I live in Athens , looking for a place to ride
Kinda Tiny. The snow seems clean. But nice for a state that Canadians such as myself go in February to go to the beach to!
Outer Banks?
Wuuuuuut?? Im about to go boarding in North Carolina and I was worried about the conditions. but JUST SO HAPPENS that my favorite snowboarding youtuber was just there!? Best. Endorsement. Ever.
haha awesome i'm sure it's gonna be great! What mountain are you going to?
@@BoardArchive Still debating between sugar and app. Probably going to end up at app since Im teaching a few first timers :)
Lol what’s the elevation like 3ft
Cute puppy
Daaaaaang was at beech 2 weeks ago barely missed you!
Awesome vid! Heading out from SoCal to go shred out there next month. Any tips for the area?
What part of NC are you from I’m in Asheville
Near Asheville
crazy that u are from NC. i make the drive from charlotte for 4 hour sessions all the time. looking to improve at park boarding. ive seen some other channels have vids get popular showing some people some tricks. we should do that.
You can snowboard in NC?! Mind blown 🤣! I didn’t think it snowed that far south
The last few years I finally got really comfortable skateboarding rails are there any tips you can give for snowboarding rails?
Hate I missed you man, rode at beech on the 7th for my birthday, and sugar on Sunday. But good news is app should have a jump line this weekend 🤘
How’s the. Snow slushy icy?
that night time nostalgia
Oh yeah, how was that Bojangles?
heck yes app ski all day
So chill 🤟
2:45 how you do that
also how did you like app state? Looking into it, Heard good things about it so far
App State is great, I would highly recommend it especially if you are going to take advantage of the outdoors

Pretty much exclusively artificial snow
