If nothing else, the last scene of the last show should be of the Imaging Chamber opening, revealing two figures inside and a voice saying "Oh boy!"
I'm watching reboot, in fact am addicted to it. Love the new plot twists and characters. Good to see character content Ernie Hudson adds. And, yes, could only get better with "Sam Beckett" too.
VERY WELL WRITTEN SERIES.
I grew up watching the original every Sunday. I like the reboot too.
I'm not surprised. Most actors aren't fans of these type of reboot
eimaginings of the work that they worked hard on and is a part of their legacy. Tom Selleck and Richard Dean Anderson felt the same way. Whether Scott ends up making an appearance or not I respect how much he loves that show and his character. Scott and Dean very much were and always will be Quantum Leap no doubt.
They are, actually! They said it in the first look at season 6 interviews! They want to build on the foundation of what Scott Bakula gave them and make a continuation after that story, man! I promise you, it'll be good!
@@taesirejasper4267 As much as I appreciate them trying to build on the already awesome premise of Quantum Leap there can't be a storyline without the essential main characters!! They are what made that show amazing and the fact that Scott is not participating should just go to show that they should just leave it where it lies, now if they were to make Ben Song go look for him and that would be his mission that might be a little bit more appropriate, This is just yet another one of Hollywood trying to sponge off of an awesome Original idea and try to make it even better.. There is no making it better that show was 1 of the best shows that was on TV at the time, simply because Hollywood can't come up with any original storylines, or ideas they're going to suck the blood out of all the classic wonderful television shows and movies that were made, That show was amazing because of the cast pure and simple, They could even make it that Al had kids and his kids are working on the project anything to reintroduce some of the old and keep it with the new cast when the Original cast is what MADE the show a classic an fantastic...
@@lianahawley111 Well, it may have its issues, but the new season is actually honestly not too bad, they've respectfully continued the show and respected what came before! Plus, the original era of the show wasn't perfect either, the special effects haven't aged too well, just like the original Charmed, Walker, Texas Ranger and other 70s, 80s, or 90s work that has special effects, the show has never had a high budget and plus there were some plots left unresolved, which to this day we still don't know about yet due to the show getting canceled back then! Hopefully some of the can get answered now that the show is back on the air!
@@lianahawley111 Agree with this comment one thousand percent!
@@lianahawley111 I just started watching the reboot and they are doing what you suggested. The project was started back in an attempt to look for Sam. Except Ben had some kind of secret mission and leaped before it was ready, and now he’s stuck too. And he was secretly working with Al’s daughter. They left room for them make an appearance if they choose.
One of my favorite shows, has a special place. I don't think it can survive too many seasons without Bakula's involvement. The fans of the show are attached to this as X-files fans
I think we should established things here.
1. This is not a reboot. Ben Song is his own character and he sees Sam as something of a mentor. This is more of a continuing sequel. Sam, Al, and company are weaved into the stories.
2. Just because Sam did not appear in Season 1 does not mean Ben and Sam's path will not cross eventually. I fully expect we will eventually see these paths crossing.
3. From what I have read, Scott Bakula has some respect to the sequel of his program. He seems pleased the direction they have taken this and the fact that Sam and Al's past is woven in. I have said it before and will say it again, the writers were not obligated to do any of this, but they joined Sam and Al's story with Ben and Addison's story.
4. Finally, it takes time to place a story here. The first season of the original Quantum Leap was rough to see. I feel the first season of the show is an easier watch. Ben has leaped into a priest, a bodyguard, a stewardess, a boxer, an 1800s cowboy, a public defender, and even did 5 leaps in one show just to name a few. Sam's leaps were just as wild. Unlike other shows, this show strongly respects the original. Peacock has all 5 seasons of tge original and almost all of season 1 of the sequel. I respect Scott and Dean (RIP), as well as all the characters of this new show. Raymond Lee is heart warming and works well as the lead.
It just will not be the same show without Sam Beckett. You can't just throw in a WHOLE NEW cast with the same story everything without some form of CLOSURE of how Sam got home.
Look at the ghost busters. They tried to replace them with 4 women. Look how well that turned out.
Also it was how well the characters of Sam and Al were written and acted. It wasn't just that they traveled through time. The CHARACTERS THEMSELVES MADE THE SHOW MORE INTERESTING. It takes a very special Actor to pull that Charm off.
Finally. I wish we could have seen more of the quantum leap facility in the 90s
@Eric there was at least one episode I think in season 5: Killin Time. Where Sam leaps into a criminal fugitive killer and in Sams own timeline the fugitive somehow excapes the waiting room and project facility giving us a brief glimpse into the future! In the leap back episode we only saw the interior of Project Quantum Leap and a little of the facility and the scenes outside the desert. But at least in the Killin Time episode we get to see a little piece of Sams 1999 timeline outside the project and into the real world albeit very briefly. 🤔🤗📺🙏
If goes to 5 seasons I can see Scott popping up old from leaping in a co leap episode.
And they both keeping leaping till death
I must be honest…… I was a HUGE fan of the original !!!! Guess what … I’m a HUGE fan of the reboot !!! Kinda like Cobra Kai is to Karate Kid ( Perfect storyline and actors ). I believe if Scott Bakula is watching….. he’d see this is a project to leap him home and close a chapter ( for him and his fans ) #Leapingforjoy
Without Al though? You think he would do that, don't think so.
Can't have Sam without Al.
I think this has more to do with Al/Dean not being able to appear as well. Scott is making the right choice; I still watch the original and it really holds up. Scott and Dean worked so well together. RIP Dean, what a talent.
dean stockwell is dead. and thus so is al.
So as it has been on for several months I think they are doing a great job. I would love to see a couple seens ONLY for that cross over but over all I am okay without him
It's a shame Scott Backula is not going to be in this show at least he should be a recurring character but i think it's a case of the show must go on, i bet it will still be good. 🖖
Good luck but I'm sticking with Scott and Dean's Quantum Leap. Y'all can keep this reboot. ✌
@@kendallrivers1119 Its more of a continuation but if you feel that way i can understand because i haven't really liked any of the new Star Trek series Strange New Worlds is way off and very corny that La'an character should be put over the captain's knee and spanked lol.
After the cliffhanger ending, I'm disappointed in Scott for not supporting new actors and directors.
It would be as awesome as having 3 spidermans in one movie
I really enjoyed the series when it first aired but this new reboot just seems like it lacks the heart the original did. It made me want to start binge watching the original show. I know they had to show the current time in order to view the weekly cast and their roles for their subplot of finding out why Ben leaped. The original series didn't focus on the future except in explaining it away. My theory is Al's daughter wanted to repay Dr. Sam Becket for her existence when he helped Al's first wife learn that her husband wasn't dead and that he'd be rescued as a POW. If it weren't for that she wouldn't have come into existence. They will eventually need Scott Bacula for a guest appearance but they need to work on the heart moments of the series more. We all melted when Sam reached out to call his father who had died long ago. He was able to save is brother from being a war casualty. Save his sister from a marriage of physical abuse. Save his friends marriage. Save his future fiance from turning away all men because she had daddy issues. It needs more of that.
Scott may have said no to NBC but he had a different response when asked about a Quantum Leap movie or continuation series way back in a 1993 interview just after the original series ended. When asked at the time he said he would be open to doing it and he said with good people like Don, Deborah and the late Dean Stockwell that it would happen! But I guess too much time has passed and with the passing of Dean Stockwell, this could be the reason why he has declined to return to the series. 🤔🙄🙋🕵♂
That and the fact that he may just not have liked what he saw in the script. These reboots
evivals etc whatever you wanna call 'em usually take away the heart and soul of a classic property and throw in a bunch of meaningless action, one dimensional stock characters and forced preachy messages instead of intelligent, nuanced discussions. I definitely think Dean passing on played a major part as well.
@@kendallrivers1119 Yeah, and also he has family he has to be with, so he didn't to not see his wife Chelsea Field and be gone filming half the time just like he was before because for the first four years of the show's original run, he was gone four months up to a year half the time and he didn't get to see them much, and so he chose to put his family first despite NBC's offer to have him return. I'll miss him on the show, but they did say that they still want him back some day, so maybe we'll get to see Sam Beckett make his leap back home to the show! He was nice and said good luck and happy leaping to the new cast! He's so awesome! Love Scott!
@@taesirejasper4267 Yeah Scott and Dean are\were class acts which is what they put into their characters and made QL as iconic as it is. Sam and Al are Quantum Leap and always will be. Love both of those guys.
Watched the pilot with my teenage son who is the same age as me when I watched the original pilot in 1989 and it was a surreal moment. He thoroughly enjoyed it and I enjoyed explaining to him the backstory because the pilot pays homage to the original from the very opening of the show. Also has a nice Dean dedication at the end which (admittedly) made me shed tears.
Maybe Scott wanted the main role but was offered a supporting one instead? We don't know. Whatever it is, I hope Scott can get over whatever that is stopping him from participating so that the original fans can have closure from the terrible ending 30 years ago
I would love to see Dr Sam Beckett gets home, but I would also want to see fresh faces and perspectives, especially in the backroom scene where Addison stands on a platform when the connection to Ben was lost. It is pretty cool because, after more than 30 years, we know how Al sees Sam and why he can't walk around much when he was with Sam. It also gives a good idea of what he does when he is not with Sam.
To the young people - watch this and watch the original. It is a treat.
To my generation, enjoy it, move on and give this a chance
Al walked around a lot in the Imaging Chamber. There were at least two scenes where Al and Sam do a long walk and talk. The Imaging Chamber was supposed to be a big cavern.
Nice moment with your son, he will never forget that. I watched the original with my pops when I was a kid, it's some of the best memories i have from childhood. All the vacations, trips and events and the little moments like watching TV with my dad are my favorite times.
scott should have at least done a final show just to put some closure to sam maybe coming home or dying off the series. i'm deeply disappointed in him over this.
Look at Bill murray in ghostbusters he said he wouldn't be in a another ghostbusters movie and he did so scott might have a chage of heart come on scott to it for the fans I want to bering sam beckett home Dean stockwall be proud of you you come back as sam
Any chance on Bakula changing his mind hinges on how long this show will last without him. If it's canceled after one season we will never get the chance to fix the first shows ending and have him appear. Remember the door has been left open for him. So... I'm afraid certain reluctant people are going to need to swallow their pride and watch this even if to hate it. It's the only chance.
Good point. It's what I keep saying
He could always show up in an episode where they find him trapped in a "transporter" of some sort for decades/hundreds of years? Like they did Scotty on that one episode of Star Trek: TNG ha ha.
WHAT NO!!
I'm willing to watch it for now.
I watched the first new episode on the hopes that I would be wrong about it being horrible…..
That’s an hour I can’t get back🤦
I hate being right!
Same
Sames 😢
it's not made for boomers, it's aimed at the youngsters
The original will always be the best nobody better than Scott bakula Sam Beckett....
I watched the first episode and was not impressed. I loved the og show but this reboot just lacks Sam and Al chemistry.
actaully he never said NO .. he was never asked to return!!
I won't watch it cause I grew up watching scott Backula.and loved it every show.
scott bakula is quantum leap
Just because he says he's not in it doesn't mean anything. Lots of these actors are required to sign NDAs and many of them will give false hearings in interviews to help the impact of the surprise. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't show up in the finale of the first season. Still, it's a pretty silly and petty reason you have not to watch this show.
@@kennethraymondmoore how is it petty not watching something that doesn't have what you love? We don't owe them anything it's their job to entice us and for many Sam and Al are that reason. If the new show doesn't have what she loves she has every reason not to watch just as much as people like you want to watch for your own reasons.
It is a little narrow to not even give it chance. I’m a fan of the original and found the reboot as much fun to watch.
@@kennethraymondmoore you got a point there.
I will definitely not be watching the REBOOT, THERE IS no quantum leap without Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell point blank. Hollywood needs to come up with original ideas the show is a classic you cannot improve on this show it cannot be made better it was a feel good show with awesome storylines in today's Hollywood they just cannot touch it.. I'm sorry there is NO quantum leap without Scott or Dean..
thanks for nothing.
But WHY did he say no?
RJ
He read the script and evidently wasn't impressed.
He gave his blessing, I still think he's gonna make a cameo
He's not Drucula!! It's pronounced Ba Koo La!!
If the show doesn’t lead up to fixing the original ending, I’m not interested, because that was an absolute _travesty._
I'm going to still watch it because Scott would still want the fans to watch it and have fun, even if he's not in it! Let's go, new cast!
Taesire Jasper agreed.
Good luck getting beyond 10 mins, its terrible.
What script/content did Scott Bakula decline? The holographic image Addison showed to Dr. Ben in the pilot is from the season one DVD and a bitch slap to the original series.
You know in the original, the close of the last ep, it’s said Sam never made it home. Do you know why? He changed history enough that Al didn’t push for the programme, so the programme didn’t exist, & Sam was “unstuck in time” (as Zathras of Babylon 5 said many times)
After Watching the reboot … how can you BLAME HIM! It SUCKS ASS
Good call, reboot sucks ass!
In all honesty it's been 4 decades so I don't even remember what happened in a single episode. So really fir most people it's a brand new show. I think it's pretty good. If you're concerned about the old actor not being in it you need to move on folks.
You seem pretty out of touch because if you knew anything you'd know how popular and beloved this show STILL is. More popular and beloved than a lot of shows of its time so your take is misinformed. And apparently most folks have already moved on since the ratings haven't been impressive to say the least.
Sucks - reboots rarely work and I am not a fan of this one .
Again, because apparently my comments are censored, smart move from Bakula here.
Why bad news? It's a smart decision not being involved on a show using all the work already done by original but terraformed to produce a woke reboot. Anyone seeing the teasers and trailer (with a brain) can see this "sequel / revival / bullshit" is basically the opposite of the spirit.
Smart move from Bakula here.
I agree. Scott either knows what they had in mind with Sam Beckett and dodged a bullet or he just doesn't want to be used to manipulate an audience into watching like what Tom Selleck said about why he wouldn't appear on the Magnum reboot. Either way i don't blame him at all. I've been watching my QL DVDs and reruns and that's all I need.
The show is just bad, politics aside
No Scott Bakula, no Quantum Leap
When u don't have the backing of the main first character then course it's gonna become a flop plus really bad acting it's just bad cheese acting
He made the right choice. This show is awful.
I won't watch it either. I'm tired of seeing shows that are rebooted and changed.
It will not be Quantum leap without Sam.
Reboot is crap! Couldn't get past the first episode.
Show stinks.......sorry.
QUANTUMLEAP HELPLINE
GOOD BYE
