  • With a 73 beetle chassis, we put on a short buggy body, stretch it, widen it, and build a wild roll cage under the skin.

    Bought mine few years back;...
    Was told before I bought it if your over 6' car is not for you me being 6'2 said to myself I won't except that fact
    Redesign seat & tock measurements ...
    Susesfully made it work for me.

      Oh ya, plenty of room to move the seat back as far as you would need. Seems like most people say it can't be done unless you can bolt something in.

      @@HellmuthsHotRods morning yesss
      Thank you for response back ; simply put
      Raised & used heavy duty brackets on original frame then used lap type chairs u bolted casters & pre existing frame then bolted chair to frame as chair has natural curve fit perfectly to contour of back body & bolted in place simply put.

    I like where this is going👍. The only thing I would change is the back hoop. If you tilted it forward opposite the direction it is now, I think it would still serve the same function but would dramatically change the look of the roof line in a good way.

    • @HellmuthsHotRods
      @HellmuthsHotRods  Год назад

      Ya, I understand what you mean. I thought about making the rear hoop vertical but decided I like having all three hoops the same angle. Also, keep in mind that there is going to be a substantial cage around the engine which will add a lot of “beef” behind the rear hoop leaning out behind the body.

    To me, VW Bugs & Dune Buggies are some of the most adorable and cutest cars ever!! I wish I knew how to drive a stick shift/manual; unfortunately, my brain can’t comprehend all three pedals, the shifting, the gears, all at once. I just don’t understand it. I enjoy cars that have automatic transmissions though. So much easier to drive, in my opinion

      Yeah projects are out there but be prepared to pay a minimum of about 5 GRAND for a starter project.thats worth it's salt...all others would take much more to even getting close to road worthy..

    Great skills and much more useful than a SXS due to title and 50 state highway legal status. A suggestion at this point . . . In final form you are going to have way too much weight far back and also way too high up. Set the drivers and passenger seats where they will be in final position comfortably with the pedals. Then move that rear seat position way forward for an adult with knees bent and the base as low as possible. If it's "a little tight" for an adult it will be just fine for your three kids. Use the space behind the rear seat for smaller lightweight items, cooler, jackets, etc. Just my .02, I am looking forward to the build. Liked and subscribed :-)

    Coming from a seasoned designer builder the rear hoop is way to high it looks goofy.

    • @HellmuthsHotRods
      @HellmuthsHotRods  Год назад +1

      By design as stated in the video. The rear hoop is as low as can safely be. Any lower and in a few years the kids heads will stick out the top. Roll bars are to save my children’s lives not to look cool to some random guy I never met.
