Funny to hear Grey do the spot for Loot Crate. You know running through his head: "Every month you too can get a box full of THINGS to take up space in your house. You don't even know if you like the things in the first place! Its like getting a present...from someone who knows only one thing about you, how often do those types of people get you presents you actually like? And only getting better, its a present that they used your credit card to pay for!"
About the texting times, I personally don't mind when people text me at night or whenever but I believe it's understood that I'll be more likely to reply promptly during certain hours. If someone texts me at night, that's fine, but I don't any feel obligation to reply if I'm in bed.
Grey and brady are showing their age talking about text messages not being sent while they are asleep hahahahaha, text messages are basically equal to all forms of social media in terms of notifications on phones anyway.
The start of the school year was always a "fresh start" time for me, as a student and a teacher. I never really thought of it as the equivalent of a new year's resolution until now.
I agree. These days smartphones allow much customisation for notification preferences, so it's not difficult to do. I should also add that some smartphones allow scheduled/delayed send of text messaging, so that is also an option. Definitely with phone calls though, I would consider their local time zone and active hours before calling.
New years was always exiting for me because where I used to live even before midnight there would always be fire works that the whole neighbor hood would set off and the fire works would last long into the night with the new years party
+CGPGrey, you should probably give advice on how to organize. I'm such a mess that you wouldn't even believe it's possible. This is not an example of wishing I were you; it's more like recognizing there is much to learn in that respect which could help me develop in (almost?) every aspect.
How about a possible code entered from the sender, so that the recieving-end device knows that the message that has been send should not notified as a important message that has been signaled with a sound or vibration
I have a problem with the chimp, in short, I think you put the skipping rope on backwards. The hand is moving behind the rope, and when you swing a rope, your hand moves in-front of the rope, accelerating it to keep the centrifugal force required to keep the rope taught. However, if you did put the rope on the other way round it would move the centre-point of the rotation backwards, so that the rope would contact the feet. So this makes me think you put the feet on the wrong way round. :-/ No idea why I spent so long thinking about that.
i think theres a limit on how far back it can go, i would recommend using spotify on phone, from memory the free version has full podcast functionality, even with downloads.
oh god this is a hard one because personally i think that you shouldnt wake people up for no reason but if you see a text you should still reply to it i have no god damn idea
***** I don't understand why this is so, I watch/listen to this on my laptop, I don't have any podcast clients, nor am I interested in them, I am sure I am not the only person who does this, therefore, they are just messing with us youtube users.
I feel bad, but when I watch HI, I speed up the video and crank down the video quality. I can do other things while consuming as much HI as fast as practical. It saves time, but I feel it's strangely disrespectful.
Consider yourself lucky, it was so jarring to hear it used so casually. Their language has gotten quite course. They even have the gaul to use the n word in the title of HI#43
Brady, you won't hear people say "Honors are rubbish" because Americans don't use the word "rubbish", or "honors" really either. But since you asked for it, honors are rubbish. I don't like the knighthood stuff because I think all royalty stuff is dumb. I don't believe the queen is any more important than any random person. She hasn't done anything of note other than get born into her role. Why should I respect someone's decisions/decrees who is only "famous" for something they had no choice in?
I know I'm almost 3 years late to this, but I venomously disagree with this very common outlook on phone calls that "If someone calls me, I assume it's an emergency" That is just awful. Many communications are more efficient to complete through a phone call instead of texts, and this outright aversion to communicating verbally is just repulsive.

Lootcrate is never mentioned again in later podcasts, too...
He calls it "lootbox" too haha
funny is.. the name of this podcast is also "Randomness in a box"

Grey has a checklist for making checklists. Grey has reached new levels of Twilight Sparkle-ness.
Grey and brady are showing their age talking about text messages not being sent while they are asleep hahahahaha, text messages are basically equal to all forms of social media in terms of notifications on phones anyway.
I retract my statement about grey, listening on.
The start of the school year was always a "fresh start" time for me, as a student and a teacher. I never really thought of it as the equivalent of a new year's resolution until now.
texting after 10 is unreasonable, damn you guys are really old
This feels like such an odd debate. Who wakes up because of a text message?
Come on, Brady, it's not inconsiderate at all to text at odd times. If you choose not to mute your phone, then that's your choice.

I never considered text messages were inappropriate to send at any time, I send them at 2 or 3 am normally
rip your friend's sleep
Marcus Vasbinder has no one heard of Silent?
Randomness is great! Between 1-9pm. Grey in a nutshell.
You and I are news-less kindred spirits, Grey.

RUclips Knight, I love it! Periodic Videos should have that on a T shirt.
Grey has an Animal Farm version of spontaneity.
My favorite podcast! :D
Grey radar = Greydar?
Yes
And now we play the waiting game...
Brady defense of new years resolution is the perfect example of why sometimes social constructs should be uphoald: it just make things easier.
Just what I needed. Thanks for the upload.
I have a way different view on text messaging, for me and my group of friends text is almost like leaving a note and then reply when you see it
How about a possible code entered from the sender, so that the recieving-end device knows that the message that has been send should not notified as a important message that has been signaled with a sound or vibration
"I have a wind for my spontaneity."

I loved Brady's comment about being contactable at all times. I agree 100% with him.
I didn't realize how far behind RUclips was from the podcast.
+CGP Grey The reddit discussion link isn't working
Our school year starts as soon as possible in January, maybe if Grey had lived in our country, it would have been different?
Eudanoia mine too
we have our school start time at 7am
Why is iTunes starting from #30 now?
i think theres a limit on how far back it can go, i would recommend using spotify on phone, from memory the free version has full podcast functionality, even with downloads.
@@lukethecat-on2pq No using a dedicated podcast app is way better
im watching this a year late
There's a simple answer to the message problem: buy an ihome and answer every text you get
oh god this is a hard one
because personally i think that you shouldnt wake people up for no reason
but if you see a text you should still reply to it
i have no god damn idea
It's July and you guys are talking about the New Year..........wow........
warfjm if you'll use a podcast client you'll be able to listen to the latest podcasts... I think the latest episode is #42 or #48
This RUclips channel is very far behind the actual podcast. Go into his website to see the most current one.

Daniel Sultana I completely agree. It makes no sense that these videos are 6+ months behind the podcasts. It's bizarre really.
you guys really need more views ):
Many people will have viewed these when they were initially released (they are already up to #43).
Luxebus They will get more views, its only up for less than half an hour.
My friends text me at 7am and we can talk until 3am. We song know what sleep is.
somebody should really ddos this episode - just to fuck with Grey
A kiss is not an X. A kiss is more like this: :-* =)

Why turn down the video quality?

Dropping the n word at around 29 minutes, for shame Brady. For shame.
Douglas Gerlach I mean, really. There are children watching this.
Douglas Gerlach i didnt hear it
Consider yourself lucky, it was so jarring to hear it used so casually. Their language has gotten quite course. They even have the gaul to use the n word in the title of HI#43
***** Don't write it out like that. It's just so vulgar. Have some decency!
***** Listen to episode 43. Then it will make sense.

I have freinds how call me in the middle of the night
they're making me regret have a phone

Has no one heard of airplane mode or adjusting the screen brightness? Why so angry for someone who has a phone in a theatre?
Thirteenth!
