Thunder Alley is such a great game, so easy to teach and play and a lot of fun! Neither me nor any in my playgroup has much interest for Nascar but everyone enjoys this game :)
grand prix, the F1 version of this game by same designers is very similar system but has enough differences to be a different game - but you can use the same tracks for both!

Such a great game - I also have Apocalypse Road (which adds weapons to the racing) for some "Mad Max/Car Wars"-style of play.
