Load it into slice x and find the slice button. Right click it and select medium or large grid slicing. This will chop the track up and each chop can be played via notes on your keyboard.
In ableton you can crop right before or after; (wherever) the transient and be more accurate, shame fl doesn't have a more precise phasing/cropping tool :/

you can even get a better sound if you use fruity multiband compressor. just find the right preset.
If you're just using someone else's kick drum does that count as infringing on their copyright?

No. The cheapest version is for making 1 bar loops essentially. You ought to gt the producer edition to make actual beats, sample, and make songs.
