Those were the days, when patterns came as individual pieces and better quality paper. I still remember when they changed it and just printed the pieces in gigantic pieces of paper that you have to cut out. I can vividly remember my mom reading it, they wrote "for your convenience " and she said that was bull. LOL Oh, Mr. Johnny Cash- 😂😂 I enjoy your channel so much. My mom, sister and I use to sew together at Christmas. They have both passed away and I miss that so much. So, this was a joy.
omg, you are soo amazing! I wanna be like you when I grow up! I'm 10 and I've already decided! I dress like you almost every day! I hope you continue to inspire people!
When I see you buy vintage or make a piece yourself, I always realize something- there's no stretch in it! LOL. I'd forgotten about that. Even when I was a kid in the '80s, most clothes were not made of stretchy fabric. I remember when they first came out with stretch jeans and we were all like, "It's a miracle!" The other day I went to put on a pair of my old jeans from high school. They were so uncomfortable! And I was like, "Why is this? I weigh less now than I did then." I felt like they were going to rip when I sat down in them! LOL! Then I remembered - no stretch! These jeans have no stretch in them! 😄
Oh that winter fabric is lovely! At the end of the video, I went over to Simplicity and found a circle (poodle) skirt pattern in my size. I'm thinking about buying it now!
Your skirt is very pretty! I love circle skirts. I make them for my dolls. Laci For more fun... get yourself some 1950 dolls. A lot are Walker dolls (head turns when you move legs). Old clothes. The dolls are a lot of fun!
I used to sew all my clothes in the 70s and learned some good tricks. For a middle zipper, sew up the seam to where the zipper will start then change machine to a basting stitch to finish. Iron seam open and flat, pin zipper over seam, stitch around zipper reinforcing bottom, then remove the basting stitches on top of zipper! Guaranteed to cover your zipper every time!
I love the finished skirt! Perfect for Christmas and perfect with your coloring. I used to make all our clothing, even my hubby's dress shirts. I quit sewing because of zippers and collars. Plus my kids are grown.
This was great, what a beautiful skirt and it seemed nice and straight forward to make. I always love seeing the cats making guest appearances 😁🐱🐱🐱. Really liked your t-shirt, very nice indeed. X
One year my mom made me a long dress for special times. It was navy blue with white dots, like dotted Swiss, long sleeve with a tie belt built in. It was gorgeous. The bottom hem measured 128 ...guess who got to hem it??? I loved that beautiful full skirted dress .
Thank you so much for sharing this. I am working my courage up to sew. It intimidates me so much. I have showed Mr. Cash's antics about ten times to others for a giggle. Thank you for brightening up so many days. You are appreciated. Much Love: Sonia Moore
Hey lovely friend. How beautiful are those fabrics!! The skirt turned out so pretty , must have been all the help from the kitties🥰💙 You look stunning in it too. Thanks Laci for sharing Xx
Like how quickly did I click on your video? Yes indeedy very fast. What a great thing to do make your own skirts, wish I had listened in school and I could be doing it too. Much Love from Scotland xx
The skirt is beautiful. I love the pocketbook and your table, it brings back wonderful memories. My Godmother had the red table like yours and the stepstool to match. Thank you again for sharing.
Omg...that skirt is so cute and the whole finished outfit it so pretty! Matching mask..fast forward to 2020 but it completes the ensemble! I see more skirts in the futur with that pattern as it suits you. Well done video and take care ..🇨🇦 🧵
If you want to have really really big waves of curls in your skirt you can run a 50-80-lb. Fishing line along the edge to make those big waves of skirt. It would look tali great with the petticoat. Great share, great job. I also have made a circle skirt with mood fabrics free patterns and I ran the fishing line thru it for my daughter and she loves it. Thank you for sharing.
The Closet Historian has a great lapped zipper technique. She did a demo this fall on her channel. ETA: add horse hair braid to make the hem flare! A beautiful skirt!
That pattern reminds me of one I have for a dress, I think I’m going to try that for making my own winter skirt.🤗 I loved your finished skirt😍 The pattern on the fabric is so calm and beautiful ❤️ My cat also “helps” me when I’m sewing 😅 I laughed so hard when Mr Johnny Cash played with that weight!😂 Have a happy December!💕💕
I sewed an invisible zipper into a neoprene mini dress at work today. I thought of you & was pretty sure you wouldn't have liked doing it any more than I did! It did turn out well though, so at least there's that.
I love your sewing and baking videos!!!! 💞 You are super fast! I would agree, zippers (and button holes) are my least favorite part of sewing. Your skirt came out GREAT!!! How many boys do you have? I had 3 and then my daughter. Congratulations on 90K!!!
I just LOVE this, and yes; you have to put in some ease on a rounded hem line. And, yes--gobs of hand sewing, yet worth it! LOVE it, LOVE it. HUGS to the kitties, too. 😊🧵
I love this skirt. I actually own about three sizes of this pattern. I need to have my sewing machine working. I will make it when I hopefully get a new one soon. I love the mask and sweater too. Very very nice!
I love the name of your cats! The skirt is fabulous! Are you a self-taught seamstress or did you learn from someone/somewhere? Thank you for brightening my day with your video! 💖

I’m currently learning to sew I will be making myself a pinafore dress in forest green next week and the video will be on my channel I’ve only made 2 skirts before so I’m nervous but my mom said she made the same dress in the 80s so she can help lol. I love your cats they are such stars xx
Hi Laci, just love the kitties so cute, & also love the skirt it’s really cute very nice work. Until your next video take care & be safe, love from Sharon , N. S.
Hi Laci, I’m new to your channel. I love it and I’m excited that you love cats like me. I’m also enjoyed watching you sew because that is something I am learning to do. I hope you’ll have some sewing tutorials in your future videos. Merry Christmas🎄
Hello my beautiful friend, have missed you on IG .... Lovely skirts, well done ! Bri was such a sweetheart to send you that fabric. Impy enjoyed seeing Johnny Cash and said Meowy Christmas🎄
You NEED a vintage sewing machine! Look for a black, all metal Singer 201 or 15. The make a beautiful straight stitch. There are also many 1950s Japanese imports with lots of chrome and great color combinations. Not as many fancy stitches and convenience features as your Brother Project Runway--which is a very good machine. Check out Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace.
Fun! Wish I was a good seamstress but sadly I'm not. As a side note, my family had a similar kitchen table only rectangular and gray but I believe the pattern was the same. And my grandparents had a couch in the same color as your chair. My cat would have been lying on that pattern (and I being a sap would allow it!)

Ooo, I don't follow since very long so I already knew little Johnny Cash but I just learned about the name of little Doc Brown. Excellent 😎😍💕
I just made a 1950s Christmas dress to match a vintage Christmas sweater from my great aunt Ruth! She would love this!
