If you let it just free close the magnets definitely will snap shut loud. But I use it hunting all the time and if you’re slow with it it’s pretty quiet. Maybe not silent but pretty darn close.
I plan to use it deer, Turkey and coyote hunting. Pretty much always with a rifle in one hand. I think that they put too much into the magnet idea. I would be closing it one handed in the dark with gloves on in Maine winters for coyote. A buffer of something that absorbs the closing pressure in turn muffling the sound would set this pack ahead of "the pack". I was so close to purchasing this thing. I like everything about it but that snap!
I get it. I’m in the Tennessee woods, so not nearly as cold as what y’all deal with. I have finger flap mittens or light gloves, so it’s easy for me to have a good hold of the lid and quiet close. I’ll tell you what, I’ll take a selfie video tomorrow and post it to my Instagram, wearing it and closing with gloves on so you can check it out. No worries if you go another way, but it’s a great chest pack! I’ll post something by noon EST and give you a shout out.

Thanks for the review. I have been shopping for bino harnesses and have narrowed it down to a few. For the price, I think Spika is a great choice.

I have this, not a hunter because i can never kill something 😢 but use it for biking, just ease of access.

do you know if this harness has a magnet on the bottom of it?
Do you mean the very bottom/under side? If so then no it does not. Only on the pouch flap.
