    Have had the Canton k9 bookshelf. Paid 3500. Use with high end JL Audio sub. Use with vintage Audio Research SP 16 tube pre, and Emotiva XPA 3 amp. The K9s are detailed precise and dynamic.

    Drivers are all made in their own little plant in the Czech Republic. Cabinets come from specialist Roterring in Germany --they make them for a dozen or so European speaker firms. Also famous for keeping spare parts for older models for a pretty long time & at reasonable prices.

    I remember seeing Canton speakers with metal grills in the 1990s. I was living in Prague. I bought some BICs after listening to both.

    • @2ChannelListening
      @2ChannelListening  Год назад

      Thanks for the input, do you remember what model on those BIC's?

    • @khoi83
      @khoi83 Год назад +1

      I think in their less known Ergo series the speakers still have metal grills which is very cool and good when you have kid(s) at home, or cats... or both...
      I had a pair Of Canton GLE 490 with métal grills. They were new around 2015. Very good speakers for the price but Canton does (much) better each time you go up a series until the top of the top which is their Reference séries. One day I May have one Reference pair... or maybe a pair of Paradigm Persona :) 😀 the future Will tell. Cheers.

    Yes! Finally, a gentleman that reviews Canton speakers in English, thank you thank you Mister!
    I own Canton speakers in my home theatre setup of 5.1.4 and I would like to replace my current front mains (not Canton) for the new Canton Townus 90's.
    My existing Center channel is a Chrono SL 556.2 and also 4 Atmos height channels consisting of 2 x AR5 and 2 x AR8.
    Can you pleeease review the Townus 90's in the same way you reviewed in this video?... Even if you don't compare them to other brands!
    Thank you Very much for reviewing the Canton brand, as you are one of the only RUclipsrs in Canada and the US I've seen so far doing this... well, other than Kpaceguy, but he sort of shied away a little from Canton lately (still a good guy).

    • @2ChannelListening
      @2ChannelListening  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your enthusiasm and nice compliment. I do not have access to the Townus in the US market, only Vento and Reference series.

  • @vincentobrien5939
    @vincentobrien5939 Год назад +3

    In their home country of Germany, the Canton Chrono 90 can be had for 800 euros a pair, which is insanely cheap and unbeatable in terms of price.

    • @2ChannelListening
      @2ChannelListening  Год назад +2

      Really?!? I'd drink to that! Would make for a whole lot better proposition at that price. I still like the 596.2 DC though.

    • @vincentobrien5939
      @vincentobrien5939 Год назад +1

      @@2ChannelListening The Chrono 596,.2 is great and has the advantage of down firing design with the new ceramic tweeter which isn't clearly better than the Alu mangan one.
      Even more interesting is that the Vento 896.2 is now on sale for 1600 euros.

    • @khoi83
      @khoi83 Год назад +3

      Yep. The new Canton Ceramic (mostly not only ceramic) tweeters receive excellent feedbacks from fans and professional reviewers in Europe, especially in Germany. I speak fluently German too so I can read all their very professional and high quality reviews.

    • @vincentobrien5939
      @vincentobrien5939 Год назад +3

      @@khoi83 That's right 👍 I am also a native speaker. My only experience is that the alu mangan tweeter is hardly worse, especially in the Reference series from the past. Interestingly, a now retired employee confirmed to me that the differences are definitely measurable but hardly audible with a proper crossover.

    • @khoi83
      @khoi83 Год назад +1

      @@vincentobrien5939 yep! The employée résumes well the whole ''dilemma'' or debate in and around the (stereo mostly) audiophile community. Many ''révolutions'' or ''big changes'' are merely audible for our ears and brain. It's mostly for the eyes and commercial and psychologic purpose :) einen guten Tag wünche ich Sie. Grüße.

      @@2ChannelListening you're welcome.
      I like your style of more sober and informative reviews on speakers and gears. It would be my style too if I was a reviewer. It attacts less viewers but it's less (purely) subjective. So I try to help à little with my little knowledge about not US product. I live in Québec, Canada and grew up in Luxembourg Europe so what is less known here is bteer known there and vive versa.

    How did you get the beauty rings off the woofers?

    • @2ChannelListening
      @2ChannelListening  Год назад +1

      You just have to work them out with a little pressure from the inside, they are fastened by pins in rubber grommets. I gently would pull them straight forward and they pop out. It was the tweeter that was a real chore.

    Could it be that the low-level intelligibility is not because of driver capability, but because of tuning that is perhaps a little bit V shaped with the Cantons?

      Fair question, but I did not notice a UK type of curve, the speaker could be bright at times.
