- On November 8, 2008, Wyoming shocked Tennessee on the road when they defeated the Volunteers 13-7. The Wyoming defense came up huge, holding Tennessee to 7 points and finishing with 2 interceptions, both of which led to the Cowboy's only touchdowns of the game. This game was easily one of the most embarrassing losses in Tennessee history, as the Wyoming Cowboys were 3-6 going into the game. Feel free to comment ideas for future videos and enjoy!

A new coaching change may help Tennessee, and their new QB showed some signs last season, but they lost their leading tackler and their top running back to the transfer portal. Along with that, they still have to play Alabama, Georgia, flordia, and ole miss could be a tough game, along with the game at Pittsburg. However, they also have bowling green, Tennessee tech ,South Alabama, and Vanderbelt. There schedule is not too tough, though with Tennessee you never really know.
Don't expect Tennessee to be anywhere near a top team, so just set your expectations low
This was the predecessor to what would become the Tennessee we know today
I really enjoy that you show love to small schools as well as the big schools. As Wyoming fan it's hard to find quality highlights like this anywhere! You're awesome man!

You younger guys don't know how shocking this game was. You are used to seeing Tennessee get their ass beat by better and lesser teams. At the time this game was played, it shocking. I listened to the 4th quarter on the way home from work and had to pull over to take in how Tennessee lost to Wyoming.
Wyoming has been pretty solid in the MW for the last 5 or 6 years and have even made some bowl games in that span
I miss hearing John Ward every Saturday in the fall. RIP

Probably not. Tennessee fan here. They blow honestly. I became a fan in 2014 when I lived in Chattanooga. They were awesome under Dobbs but always fell apart. Especially when they should have won in Bama but Dobbs fumbled like always. Its all gone down hill at this point. Thank God my main team is Ohio state

North Texas State beat UT on Homecoming 1977 or so. Georgia State also beat UT recently.

Wyoming is my alma mater. My sister-in-law is a Vol who graduated from Tennessee. I still rib her about this game. Don't ever underestimate the Cowboys.

LSU barely defeated Wyoming in the Sugar Bowl I think in 1968.
Wyoming has also won surprisingly amount bowl of big bowl game as well, LSU beat them by 7

Not sure if I’m remembering this correctly, but in one of the early games of 2020 in the big ten, I believe Illinois vs Wisconsin, there was a play in which somebody’s shoe came out flying, round 15 yards, of a pile. It happened in the first half. Anybody remember what I’m talking about? Trying to track down the clip.

I remember the 2020 LSU vs Florida game where a Florida player threw a LSU player’s shoe 15 yards down the field. That penalty ended up costing Florida the game.

It was 2014 because the next week they played UW and almost upset them as well.
In 2008 when this happened there was far more parity in college football. Florida was #1 followed by Utah, USC, Texas and Oklahoma if I remember right. Those days are long gone. It’s Bama, Ohio State and Clemson then the next 114 teams fighting to get the 4th BCS berth and their asses kicked.
I wouldn't put Ohio State in the same category as Alabama and Clemson yet.

This is a prime example of what I call a trap game. Not a pure cupcake, but an actual Division I program (Division IA back in the day) with athletes of its own. And nothing to lose. This is one of the games where after the athletic director asks "Whose bright idea was this game?" and everyone in the rooms looks back at the AD.
Even if we lose to Georgia this year, even if we don't make the sec championship again, even if we lose one game we should easily win, it makes me feel just a bit better that my 7 y/o cousin (by that time) could start at qb and we could still beat tennessee
