Diode Clipping is a distortion achieved not by the saturation of the power valves, but in the pre-amp stage adding a circuit similar to a stomp box. So the distortion of the signal is achieved by a diode or a transistor saturation like in solid state amps. This system was first increased on Marshalls JCM 900. So the sound is a mix of tube and diode saturation. No big deal, is a matter of taste, since almost all the rock guitar players do this when they use a overdrive for boost.
I agree. I have a GMX-212 equipped with 2X60 watt Bugera speakers. If you crank all the knobs to the top while you're playing and kill the speakers, that's not a reliability issue, it's a user issue. I've had mine for two years and it sounds just fine.
I just recently bought this amp and I was astonished at how much gain it had. Then I realized I was only plugged into the low gain input. This thing has more juice than Tropicana. It kind of has a wishy-washy tone to it though, but for the price I was happy.
Great point there - It's beter to make reviews of amps with mid price range guitars, because it's not like everyone can afford a 3000$ gibson... And that way you can show really what the amp is made of...
When asking the Chinese to build something for mass production they ask you if you want 1) high quality 2) medium quality or 3) low quality. In other words they are capable of building to a higher quality, depending on how the order is set up. And they prefer building to a higher quality. The Bugera has been an amp that has crapped out for some folks. . however, Behinger, the parent company does stand by their warranty and will replace something very quickly if you have a problem.
The "fizz" issue is largely one of the bias. Like the 5150 and 5150 II, the Bugera 6260 and 6262 are biased cold with 6L6 tubes for long tube life. You can adjust the bias hotter to eliminate the crossover distortion problems and fizziness that sometimes happen if the tubes get old or are biased too cold. Check Eurotubes for advice on this with Bugera amplifiers.
Separating out the clean/crunch channel pre-amplification means that the 6262 lead channel has less gain than the 6260, but more headroom, with better articulation. Give a listen to the several 6262 clips mtuck5150 has done, or the comparison between the 6262 and 333XL dingle1 did. 6262 has a nice dark, metal distortion, especially if you don't abuse the presence setting. I like doom metal sounds so to me, that's cool.
i watched a good review on youtube about a guy who had sold his 6505+ for reasons, but then realised he didnt need to sell it, but instead of buying a new one, he bought this and says its 100 times better
I'm not sure I consider the 6262 and upgrade over the 6260, so much as a difference. The 6260 has clean, crunch and lead modes also, with independent reverb and master volume, the major difference is that the 6262 adds an additional pre-amp tube in order to separate out the pre-amplification on the clean channel and has independent eq for the clean/crunch and lead channels. The difference is intended to track the difference between the 5150 and the 5150 II. Better clean on the 6262?
@dadudeguy2 this is very true, not to mention the modulatyion amps like the Peavey Vypers and Line 6 Spiders....i mean, you get down to it, every amp company as well as guitar companies will copy another sooner or later.. cheers
@Julesw01 Dude, you can make almost ANY amp make whatever sound you want. This thing has a clean channel... with a little overdrive (such as an ibanez ts808) you could get a great blues/jazz tone even. Then dial back the gain on the amp'z distortion itself, keep your overdrive on maybe, and you'll have your leads. Any amp is as versatile as you make it.
These amps sound great! I am so ready to get one of these. I'm just concerned with the reliability of them. Anyone out there own one and have any comments on these amps?
im gonna buy one of these and i had this same dilema, but in the end i thought about it and really, i want this amp for the lead channel for playing 80's rock stuff, so the clean channel sort of takes a back seat there, but it really depends what you want this amp for
Granted you can't get the Peavey 6505/6505+ for under $400 like with this 6202, but you can find used 5150's for under $800 and even $700 if you look at Guitar Center and other music stores with used gear. So, the 6202 is the next best if you really want one of the Peavey's and cannot afford it.
any head i have ever ran thru my Bugera cab (JCM 800's, Trip Rec, ENGL Ritchie Blackmore) sounded great through this cab. i would personally prefer a VHT cab, but for the price, the Bugera cab is a great competitor. maybe you should check out some of my Bugera rid demos...
I've had a Bugera 6262 for six months now. Never a problem. That's why the trolls piss me off. They are lying and I know it, but there are people out there who might be mislead.
I've been playing since I was a teen and I am 34 now. I played a 333XL half recently and it was 'alright' at best. Then I saw why. Made in China on the back of the head. This demo sounded better than the 333, but if it's also Chinese I have my doubts it will last any amount of time. When they say these amps are cheap...they ain't kiddin'. Nice try Bugera.
@leddeath80 , well, you should also state how much are you willing to pay, cause there are some half stacks for around 700ish, but if you want to buy something from the mid/upper tier, like Mesa, vox, soldano, etc, be ready to shell out about 2000 for the head, and another 1000 for the cab.
@MattiGardners, it depends if you switch from clean channel to distortion alot. I mean if you play alot of songs that have a very diverse sound in the clean channel compared to the distortion, or you want sumfin like that, then you prob want another EQ. I like having a jangly clean tone with alot of bass. When I want distortion, I want ALOT of mids less bass than a clean channel and more treble. My amp shares an EQ, I need to set it in the middle of my desired tone for distortion n clean.
amazing sounding amp at any price.. I bet if this was on sale for $2000 dollars people would say its amazing , Coz its £350 people say its crap ...Close your eyes people and let your ears decide
@TheGnarchitect i agree...u want more amp u can also get the 6262 Bugera..which is more heavier toned for also a nice price...im looki into the 1990 (Marshall JCM 900 copy) for my needs of playing...nice amps
@Namnrax I agree, and can't wait to get a 333XL. I go back and forth between Bugera videos and A/B them immediately with videos of Mesa, Engl, Marshall, etc amps with similar riffs, & here similar tones. If I didn't know better, I would say that in many cases, the Bugeras sound better and MORE EXPENSIVE. Every brand of amp has a few bad apples. I have a friend who blew up two Marshall heads because he played them loud often. He didn't complain on YT about it, but will never buy another Marshall.
Did you notice what guitar Paul is playing? It's an Epiphone LP Custom. Pickups are just average. It's about time someone demo'd without EMG's, or playing a real LP or EVH Ernie Ball. My crazy ass point is, this amp makes average sounding guitars sound HUGE! Thanks Paul for reprosentinting with a guitar that the masses own.
well it gives you more option but what i find happens with seperate eq, when the eq on the clean is alot differant than the distortions eq it has no resemblance and sounds realy off. if your finacy about that sort of thing get the higher model, but with an extra 100 bux u can get a noise gate if you dont have one.
Please explain why this guy is a tool. Paul from Guitar World is becoming a legend on RUclips in my opinion. His reviews are always informative and fun to watch, and he's a damn good player. Maybe you'd prefer a spotty teenage emo reviewer who thinks everything is rubbish.
@Julesw01 this amp is great for almost anything. I don't know about clean but any type of rock works great with it. The clean is very good as well but im sure if all your playing is clean there's better amps out there
@gtjumper I'm guessing you have never played either of those amps. I have the 6262 and its sounds just as good as any peavy. The clean channel is punchy clear and sweet- most underrated thing about this amp. I could dial up a fat SRV in seconds. This amp is more of a soldano clone than anything . It looks kinda like a peavey but is a very versatile amp. The gain channel trumps my 1000$+ Marshall DSL. Its heavier than the DSL even when I have a tube screamer in front of the marshall.
well I tested some mesas and I think it is very similar for the money but of course mesa has patented their tones so you'll never find the same tone but you can get close. Now my dream amp is definitely that new mesa mark V.
@XxsaintsblackxX see if u can get a traynor 2x12 or 4x12(some are around 450CAN, but that might be around 375US or so) they seem good.. i never tried a traynor cab so i cant tell u for sure, but they are made very well and im they have celestions in them(dont know which ones though).. hope this helps...
@eddieboy1234 hhmmm did you try one of the first bunch to be manufactured? because tbh anything new is bound to have some problems, thats why you wait for a while for them to iron out the problems, but for its price you wont get a tube head any better than this, i mean peaveys new 6505 212 is the same price as the 6260 head AND cab put together :D
The combo is the same as the head.. it just has speakers in it.. you could run the combo through a cab and it would be the same as a head (a big head but still a head)
hey, does anyone know what the difference is between this and the combo? Sound/volume wise? I'm playing rythm guitar in a band that's getting very serious about gigging. Thanks!
@drugdrunkker definatlely the bugera 6260, it is tube driven and will give the great sound of the peavey 6505+ or 5150. The spider iv wont sound anywhere near as good (very muddy and unlcear) i have one, im looking to sell it. The down side on the bugera is that no in built effects are on board as there are in the line 6, but you can always add pedal on the fx loop for the bugera. I payed $630 bucks for my line 6 in Australia and i could get a bugera online cheaper. Go for the bugera.
@ExplodeEd 6262 has seperate eq for lead and clean. clean channel has a crunch switch. thats really the only difference. no difference in sound or tone just extra features
@megaluisdeth yea but id get a nice od pedal to put in front of it so you can use the clean/crunch channel for rhythm and the lead channel for solos and whatnot. the crunch channel on this amp really cant get past ac/dc type tones. the lead channel is pretty bad sounding for rhythm imo. also dont get the matching cabinet because it is very cheap and very bad sounding. it makes the amp sound like a spider II if you play anything but clean
@Guitarman55555: They aren't bad at all, take it from a guy who owns a slew of tube amps, many of very reputable names. I bought a 333XL for poops and laughs and honestly find myself playing it more than any other rig. ToneKing can't play worth snot, though, I agree with you there. He'd do the products more justice to allow someone else to play guitar on them
The Bugera 6262 has the best bottom end imho. I cant wait until i get that amp. But can anyone suggest some pretty good cabs that are affordable (around $350 US dollars)? I would really appreciate it :)

He literally looks and sounds like Marty McFly. I bet he drives a Delorean.
Surprisingly enough, this is one of the better reviews I have seen from Paul.

Wow that amp's lead tone came to life with the delay at the end.
Awesome sounding amp
this is the best review for this amp ive seen so far
I just recently bought this amp and I was astonished at how much gain it had. Then I realized I was only plugged into the low gain input. This thing has more juice than Tropicana. It kind of has a wishy-washy tone to it though, but for the price I was happy.
I love it..."we can watch this channel grow some fur" Best description I've heard.

Bugera's kick ass especially the 333XL. Not to mention, this dude can jam.
Always nice to get a demonstration with a guitar that's slightly out of tune.

MrTooter007 Yep! Since 1955 !

Nice sounding! Looking for a new amp and I'm thinking of this
I wish they would use the same guitar for all their amp reviews. It is hard to tell what is the best since all guitars sound different.
@Namnrax I agree, and can't wait to get a 333XL. I go back and forth between Bugera videos and A/B them immediately with videos of Mesa, Engl, Marshall, etc amps with similar riffs, & here similar tones. awesomme but whats the main difference between this and the 6262?
the new bugeras dont shit out as much as the older ones do
This with my flying v or les paul would be amazng, whats the retail price?
the 333 has 3 challens and the 6262 only has 2. and the 333 has a presence knob and a noise gate as well.
Thanks Paul for reprosentinting with a guitar that the masses own.

that metal riff he played was blummin amazin!
Awesome lead channel!
what do people think of the bugera cabs?
should i get a bugera cab or a marshall mg cab?
anyway u put it you cant deny this amp sounds great.
I'm surprised it didn't blow up during the demo.
Why aren't they doing a review on the peavey valveking!?
I'm impressed! This is the first Paul review that I acctually liked! haha The guy has learned some tricks. Too bad the Krank reviews from him sucked.
The clean is very good as well but im sure if all your playing is clean there's better amps out there
his tone is amazing!
man that sounds really good
Hey Paul...the guy that works for Bugera calls it "BuGera, with a G, not "BuSZSera" with a Z. Thought you might want to know.
@gtjumper I'm guessing you have never played either of those amps. I have the 6262 and its sounds just as good as any peavy. The clean channel is punchy clear and sweet- most underrated thing about this amp. I could dial up a fat SRV in seconds. This amp is more of a soldano clone than anything . does the fact that they share an eq matter? because im thinking if buying 1 but im not sure if ti pay the extra £100 for another eq.
Is Paul using the stock pickups? it seems too good to be the stocks
yes they are but bugera also makes one that sound like marshalls, fenders etc.
no..i'm such a noob at knowing things like that :/ (congratulations on being the first person on youtube to take a joke!) i applaud bigdavid351.
i love this amp!
the guitar is tuned??? great sound for the price!
What is the difference between the 6260 and the 6262?
the controls on it remind me a lot of the peavey 6505 plus 112 combo style
some of the circuitry is mounted too closely to some other things inside, which could cause interactions between components which = circuitry failure
Lol that's the best analogy for drink and amplification ever.
well I tested some mesas and I think it is very similar for the money but of course mesa has patented their tones so you'll never find the same tone but you can get close. Now my dream amp is definitely that new mesa mark V.

@MetalcorezZ94 oh hell ya this thing and the 333xl are great for alot of kinds of metal
You're right about everything. Except the quality part. I guess you've never seen this amps guts.
The combo is the same as the head.. it just has speakers in it.. you could run the combo through a cab and it would be the same as a head (a big head but still a head)
I agree man he is very adept at his craft.
Great Scott
mhhh not convinced ... sticking to my brunetti ^^
but anyway, for that price, i guess it's pretty good, it sounds better than a transistor amp ...
hey, does anyone know what the difference is between this and the combo? Sound/volume wise? I'm playing rythm guitar in a band that's getting very serious about gigging. Thanks!
dude paul is cool. most of the gear reviews i see are from him. lol. guitarworld is awesome. andy aledort is my guy too, he teaches me how to jam.
@drugdrunkker definatlely the bugera 6260, it is tube driven and will give the great sound of the peavey 6505+ or 5150. Whats the difference between the 333 and the 6262?
@dadudeguy2 Too right. Wasn't Marshall actually buying Bassmans and hotrodding them?
How much is this amp & cabinet? I'm thinking about getting one.
Should I get a Peavey 6506 or this?? Anyone/? This one is cheaper, but which ones more worth it? Also what cabs sound the best with both?
would this cabinet be a good combinatio with a dual recto??
@ExplodeEd 6262 has seperate eq for lead and clean. clean channel has a crunch switch. thats really the only difference. no difference in sound or tone just extra features
@megaluisdeth yea but id get a nice od pedal to put in front of it so you can use the clean/crunch channel for rhythm and the lead channel for solos and whatnot. the crunch channel on this amp really cant get past ac/dc type tones. the lead channel is pretty bad sounding for rhythm imo. also dont get the matching cabinet because it is very cheap and very bad sounding. it makes the amp sound like a spider II if you play anything but clean
sounds great!
3:56 "Now this channel starts to grow some fur, heroes." FUR HEROES!
What AMPS besides Peavey and Mesa Boogie are USA Made?
You are have 1990?
Is good amplification?
Is loud like lightning bolt of wizard?
is it just me or does he always suggest using the matching cabinet for any head he reviews?
nice sounding head though.
@Guitarman55555: They aren't bad at all, take it from a guy who owns a slew of tube amps, many of very reputable names. I bought a 333XL for poops and laughs and honestly find myself playing it more than any other rig. ToneKing can't play worth snot, though, I agree with you there. He'd do the products more justice to allow someone else to play guitar on them
Cool. I'm not a big fan of behringer, but to each its own.
i dont know if buying tte 6262
or the peavey 6505
The Bugera 6262 has the best bottom end imho. I cant wait until i get that amp. But can anyone suggest some pretty good cabs that are affordable (around $350 US dollars)? I would really appreciate it :)
its based off the 5150 2 which was the evh sing amp from peavey which was based of the saldno's and which is based of the marshall plexi
I know this amp is modeled after a peavey 6505, but it sounds more like the peavey valve king.
i'm looking at this to leave at a practice space... someting i won't have to baby or worry about if it gets stolen or what ever... i'd get worried about leaving a $2,000 head and cab someplace where i don't live
does this sound good at bedroom levels like my fab marshall dsl 50?
yeah I'm sure it will sound great. Just more expensive...
haha I've actually owned the combo version of this amp....it broke lol. But it sounded so good! I've never played a 5150 but I've heard other people play them. I might look into it
Great and affordable too!
