    That's not an Infinium. You can tell because of the blue pilot lights. The Infiniums are orange. The tubes are not interchangeable unless you know how to bias them yourself. Just FYI. Mine is still going strong.

    These are actually great sounding amps. I own the combo version and its surprisingly versatile. I've had it for about 3 months and gig it regularly and its been fine. I'd recommend it.

    I've had this amp for about 5 or 6 years now. I never had any issues with it until a bandmate broke a water main and flooded the practice area, with my amp directly in the path of carnage. But luckily, it was salvaged, but has needed a few amp doctor appointments concerning the wiring and tubes. But, tube amps unfortunately need a decent amount of maintenance to keep them running tip-top. But, ANYWAY, my opinion regarding the review. If you pay attention, he doesn't turn the volume past 1.5 or 2. Tube amps generally don't give their true tone until they hit the breaking point of about 4.

    This is actually a really good amp. The new Infinium model is amazing. I suggest you do have it looked over by your favourite amp guy though, just to be sure everything's good inside. Also the cab is pretty darn good, you just have to wear in the speakers inside for about 7 hours, or it sounds like crap.

    @Lgw1984 I think Bugera themselves did announce that they had various problems such as the plastic cover on the top melting because of the heat from the tubes, but along with that, they announced that all of their amps from the newest production would now be problem-secure, with every problem known taken into account of course!

    Even though the clean DOES have some dirt on it, I really like it. I tried it at Guitar Center (I know, I know...) It was a very OPEN sounding clean with LOTS of headroom. Also very responsive to your playing.

    The 1st Bugera gear bit I bought was their 2x12 cab, cos it was so cheap. I bought a Celestion and an Eminence "brit series" speaker and had them switched out with the stock speakers, cos they were way too "American"-sounding. Later I bought a 1960 head and learned that Bugera amps sound excellent, but they're ASTONISHINGLY bright. Have to have the treble and presence knobs rolled way back...Now I understand about their speakers, lol.

  • @jduffy14

    I've found it's often the case that the amps sound MUCH better when the guy can play (which he can) and they are recorded well (which it is). This amp and cab are a good value and sound much better than most of the solid state stacks and combos out there. I own a Bugera 1990 and I love it...sounds great and cost less than half of its REAL competitors. agcatdriver has it right...most manufacturers are dancing between quality and cost.

    A piece of advise on Bugera >100w heads: Change all pre amp tubes for JJs or your prefered good trusty tubes, remove the two power tubes in the middle so will have only two power tubes, you won't ever ever ever need the full 120w and you'll go much more easy on the output and power transformers wich, along with the stock tubes, are the ownly downsides of those amps. Other than that they are greate amps for the money.

    • @abergreg
      @abergreg 8 лет назад

      Bullshit, the decibel scale is logarithmic, 50 watts is 90% the volume of 100 watts. The difference between a 50 watt head and a 100 watt head is 3db, ie next to nothing. Unless you are playing VERY large venues or you require huge clean headroom 50 (or 60 watts in this case) is preferable because you get to benefit from power amp compression at a level that wont kill your audience.

    • @abergreg
      @abergreg 8 лет назад

      Its 120 watts, I own 20 odd amps, unless you are playing very large venues or need a LOT of clean headroom a 50/60 watt is easier to get that controlled power amp feedback with.

    • @neophyte2688
      @neophyte2688 8 лет назад

      Blackbrooke I use an attenuator, probably 30 watts is the ideal, but I got my Infinium head really cheap so..

    Because these amp are not that expensive I bought two heads and set one up with EL34 tubes and left the other one with the 6l6 tubes. I then took the 4x12 cab and converted it so that each amp head only plays into 2 speakers. Its like having two 2x12 cabinets but in one speaker box. I got the idea from Joe Bonamassa. I can play both of the amp heads at the same time or one at a time using a Boss LS-2 line selector.

    humbucker's breaking up on the clean channel? i fix that by rolling my volume knobs on the guitar to like 8. i have active EMGs, and they already have crunch if you're playing clean with the pickups all the way up.
    back to the amp... That has a pretty good hair metal tone on the crunch channel. the lead channel sounds ok

    @store1992 they re-called all their models after that. they used to long story short made out of plastic. there now much much more reliable and have a tone that is morealess up there with the 5150 blockletter. i use very high gain because i use mine for low tunings for really heavy music so i run a maxon od on the front. sounds brilliant.

    I just picked up a 6260 Combo that's not the Infinium from Musician's Friend for $250. I like the the 6L6's and have a box of EL34's on hand for when the 6L6's go south. I'm lovin' this amp so far. Gain for days and LOUD!!! Marshall's are so over-priced now and the new one's aren't nearly as good as the old one's so there's little point in shelling out that kind of money for a name.

    @varulv234 no, in stand by mode you ur guitar does not have to be pluged in. ur guitar only needs to be pluged in when ur standby switch is off and ur amp is on, and if you want to change guitars, you must go back into standby mode, let it sit for a minute, then unplug ur guitar and plug a diffrent one in. then flip the standby switch to begin playing guitar. its simple but very important. i got a friend who treated his amp like a solidstate amp, and now hes out 200$ for new tubes

  • @Wildchildinc
    @Wildchildinc 13 лет назад

    @BatistaStrums123 the Bugera will give you the perfect sounds for just about anything and is really good for metal because it's basically like peaveys 6505. The only con with Bugera is their durability/realiability I would suggest changing the power tubes and get it biased to prevent future problems that are almost guaranteed to happen. The Valveking is an ok amp It doesn't give you much gain but can be fixed with a pedal. Id prefer the Bugera

    Just a little thing to point out, typically to double the total possible volume on a tube amp you have to multiply the watts by 10. This isnt true with all because of different tubes, transistors, speakers, ect, but its just a little thing to keep in mind

  • @Drakggor
    @Drakggor 14 лет назад

    question, Why is it that the half stack amp that I owned (which is the same that you are reviewing) has a humming noise even when the guitar volume is down. Also, the lead gain loses a lot of power once you crack up the volume to 2-3. I had to buy a Metal Zone petal, noise reduction petal, so that sound has more gain, and not too noisy. I'm still don't like it. What do you do to make the amp sound so quite when you turn on the amp, and turn down the volume on the guitar?

    @varulv234 it kills the tubes, tube amps like this bugera are more delicate that soildstate amps, with a solid state, you plug it and turn it on and rock out , with a tube amp, tone takes time, you gotta turn it on and let it sit for a minute. and make sure the everything is conected so it dosent put the tubes in harm. then you can go fully on and then rock out. not properly turning it off or on will also damage the amp and tubes

  • @gtrmanvintage
    @gtrmanvintage 9 лет назад

    the amp failure you and so many youtubers refer to is the same problem peavey valve amps had on usa built amps. the high voltage connection to the board were made made of an inferior plastic,which couldnt handle the heat.the part was upgraded years ago.I had a peavey ultra brand new died. that doesnt mean peavey is crap,but a company who builds tons of amps a year will always encounter part failures,one part.a diode in the peavey power section,bugera a plastic connector in the power section

  • @CemetaryGatesML
    @CemetaryGatesML 14 лет назад

    @varulv234 you ALWAYS must leave ur amp all pluged in when its on.
    and you MUST leave your amp ON in the standby mode for 1 minute MINIMUM to let the tubes warm up. the longer you warm up the better it sounds. and when shutting down, you must turn into the standby mode , let sit for a minute, then turn it off.
    these are the proper steps to keep ur tubes alive, if you dont do this, you will damage the amp, and kill your tubes, and their not cheap to replace. dont cut their life short!

      With the Infinium technology I don't think that's a problem anymore.

    • @T00DEEPBLUE
      @T00DEEPBLUE 10 лет назад

      Lexcoaster Nope. Reliability is still a huge headache with these amps. That molex connector burning out being resolved by not using the molex connector anymore is only the tip of the iceberg of the reliability problems these Bugeras have.
      Badly soldered connections on the board, a variety of burning out components, including components of the infinium circuits themselves, burning out transformers, burning out tubes that are meant to be brand new, the list goes on., I frequently go on amplifier forums and Bugeras are the amps that have the most reliability problems.out of any amp by a million miles. Things go bad with them ALL the time. That includes the new ones.
      Bugera gets a lot of hate, and it's not at all hard to see why. The reason these amps are so cheap is because they're built cheaply. Even if the amps do sound great, that means nothing if the amp doesn't work when it's supposed to. People who don't have any problems with their Bugeras are considered very lucky on the forums. Idk about you, but I'd rather not rely on luck to determine if my hard-earned cash is worth spending on a product.
      If you want a Peavey 6505 on the cheap, get a used 6505. There is no better option.

    • @necromanticalspirit5627
      @necromanticalspirit5627 9 лет назад

      Daniel Lomax Hmm... Should I buy new Bugera with 3 year warranty for 400e or used Peavey with no warranty at all besides the last owners word for 700e. Pretty though call.
      Plus if we start talking about bad quality we can find it from Peaveys Valveking series too. Blown fuses and shit. Every brand has their shit amps. Usually they will release a second model after that to fix the problems. Thats what happened with Infinium series and exactly same happened with Valveking II.

    • @T00DEEPBLUE
      @T00DEEPBLUE 9 лет назад

      NecromanticalSpirit The Peavey 5150/6505's are generally well built. Its impossible to know if an amp was misrepresented when it was sold, until you actually buy it and get it to your house. But based on the amount of issues virtually all the Bugera models have, I'd rather trust something used. There isn't really all that much on a good quality tube amp to go wrong unless the guy selling it was utterly clueless and turned the amp on without any speaker load or something. But that's relatively uncommon in this case, since higher-end amps like the 6505 are owned by more experienced players who generally know better than to do that.
      Also, blown fuses can occur on any amp. Tubes no matter how good a quality will go bad over time, and when a tube goes bad, it often trips the fuse.

    • @necromanticalspirit5627
      @necromanticalspirit5627 9 лет назад

      I havent read hardly any issues on Bugera after Infinium came out. All bad reviews basicly are about the series before Infinium.
      What I read those fuses fried instantly people turned power on. After replacement it fried the new fuse as well. Several reviews at webstores confirm they had habbit doing so.

    Best bang for your dollar..no doubt.
    Its not a Mesa/Boogie and it's not a Marshall but you wont be paying those prices and still get a really great sound.
