I would pay hundreds to see an actual orchestra play this; this is beautiful and so nostalgic! And what an honor to be shared by Jordan Rudess! Congrats and amazing work!
Mr Stevenson , I've been a DT fan for over 20 years have met them and seen them twice . Congratulations you have made a 43 year old man cry with this . Thank you for creating such a masterpiece.
Same here Brother....sitting in the public library, trying to study, I came across this and sat there with tears in my eyes and a big fucking smile on my face.... and everyone else is wondering what the hell is wrong with me.
My best friend introduced me to Dream Theater a few years back, and all I can say is that I wonder how I lived without them for so long. This here is golden!
It's like my two favorite things of my teen years smashed into each other at full speed: Dream Theater and Final Fantasy. Unbelievable work; absolutely brilliant.
This... oh my god this... felt like an overture to my life. You made me realize how much DT meant to me through the years... and to you as well, I guess. This symphonic composition is SO inspired and inspiring. Great work Joseph.
Oh Man... The moment of "These Walls" + "Solitary Shell" was one of the most amazing things that I heard in this last years. Thanks for this piece Joseph. I had a blast!
I've been listening to this wonderful piece of music over the last two days, and I just can't get enough of it. The only flaw it's the length: it should have been three times longer!
OH !!! MY !!! GOD !!! This is by far the best classical arrangement of Dream Theater ever made, including Dream Theater themselves! Thank you so very much! And may I add, the spirit of Portnoy (in regards of mixing and blending everything together) is everpresent!
1:38 About to Crash is one of my favorite songs but this orchestra version makes it sound like a 90s Disney movie trailer. I mean that as a compliment! Total twist on the song.
This is one the greatest things I've heard. Dream Theater's music translates so well into classical, and I loved being able to recognize all of the parts you translated over. A good medley, and fantastic work! Don't ever stop! And props to you for using Metropolis/In The Presence of Enemies in the beginning!
"In the presence of enemies the solitary shell is about to crash with the dance of eternity. Lost but not forgotten the stream of consciousness and panic attack through all along the dark eternal night. Bridges in the sky and enemy inside the glass prison, act of Faythe was like a saviour in the Square; breaking all illusions on these walls of my solitary shell." Anyone wants to play? :D
I sent a private message to Mike Portnoy. I hope he doesn't ignore me because he needs to hear this and share it on his page! Congrats to you, that's some great work you have done :)
I'm sure Mike will appreciate it, but yeah the stuff from ADTOE will rub him the wrong way. I don't blame him. In my opinion if DT had written ADTOE without portnoy, then welcomed MP back to record it, it would have been one of the greatest DT albums ever.
The Mirror lol calm down genre-nazi.. I know and listen to a majority of the different genres ranging from groove/prog/metalcore/power/melodic.... AKA: it was a joke don't take it seriously
Robin Flick Yeah, I love Watchtower. Great underappreciated band in general! Ron isn't a contemporary classical composer though. His approach to the 12 notes, reminds me of a theory called the "Tone clock", which still remains relatively obscure.
This made my day. Easily the best Dream Theater orchestral compilation I've heard (and I've heard Eren Basbug as well as the Symphonic Theater of Dreams). I implore you, These Walls deserves a separate song of its own because the arrangement here is masterful.
I loved the abundance of Six Degrees and Dramatic Turn of Events, but I would have liked a tad more Astonishing, but hey, that’s me. I still absolutely loved it and am stunned to see such talent.
Lost for words.... You just took me on a journy! A journy through the history of DT's music. But told in a differrent, more fun, more sad, more epic, more beautiful way. Thank you very much for the 13:42 minutes of pure eargasm. You and Dream Theater fucking rule!
Damn! I remember us exchanging messages via Facebook, asking if you could send me the sheet music so I could play it with the orchestra I’m in, and now another one of your arrangements is being used by Dream Theater themselves in their show... unbelievable! I wish you all the best!
Seriously, the orchestration you've made is completely awesome dude!!! You should contact DT to have this arrangement released as something official and not just in youtube
This rules so hard. I did wish it ended back at Metropolis, but still, such an achievement. Hope you'll be able to upload the new medley you made for the new DT tour!
Esto es genial! Felicitaciones Maestro!
Wow, this is absolutely stunning. Beautiful work. Such an incredible dive into the beautiful melodies and musical moments this band has penned over the years. And your interpretations are wonderful.
I was wondering how many people realized that "Everything Fine" by David Maxim Micic uses the melody from "These Walls" like I did at 9:02, until I saw it is the most replayed part lol.
Man, the In the Presence of Enemies theme went just perfect in the orchestra! Love the way you put even parts of usually disliked albums like Astonishing
One of my favorite bits in this is at 11:30 where the part of Breaking All Illusions that follows the guitar solo is hidden underneath the melody of Lost Not Forgotten. Makes me wonder whether there's any other places where songs are doubled up like that.
Joseph Stevenson you are awesome. I Fuckin love this shit. When I saw you released a dream theater symphonic suite I hopped on as soon as I woke up. Keep it up man.
I've been a Dream Theater fan my whole life (my family really didn't give me much of a choice) and hearing my musical journey condensed into this wonderful 14 minute suite has blown my mind. Thank you :)
Wow this is really impressive. You really did think the choice of repetoire through, it blends so well from one piece to the next! Also fantastic arranging,... this is as good as it gets when it comes to paying tribute to a band :) Also, in the original tracks I always digged some of those Danny Elfman type influences. It's funny how well it translates back to orchestra.
This is wonderful...I'm having glimpses of wondrous things like listening to these DT albums for the first time and for some reason... Star Wars soundtracks...AWESOME :-)
Just hearing the pure orchestral element in DT's songs really helps me to appreciate how great of composers they really were. Great work Joseph, I would be amazed if you orchestrated Dream Theater's entire discography. That would be a dream come true!
This is absolutely next level! Holy shit dude, you can hear your heart & soul in this! You should be proud! I got here from following the link Mr Ruddess shared!! Well done sir!

you're right i didn't see it
instablaster...
I would pay hundreds to see an actual orchestra play this; this is beautiful and so nostalgic! And what an honor to be shared by Jordan Rudess! Congrats and amazing work!
"These walls" deserves being a seperate piece i think. Congrats.
Should be "Thiesian waltz"!
It reminds me of some witcher soundtracks :D
It remembered me of skyrim haha
Breaking all Illusions too.
I recently made a whole seperate piece :) So if still interested visit my yt page :)
Mr Stevenson , I've been a DT fan for over 20 years have met them and seen them twice . Congratulations you have made a 43 year old man cry with this . Thank you for creating such a masterpiece.
Dream Theater should consider having this as a midway introduction to the rest of the set with the orchestra. This is great!
wish granted
The strings in Stream of Conciousness almost make me cry!! =')
Damn.. I'm in tears..
same ! after these walls and breaking all ill
usions !
me too
Same here Brother....sitting in the public library, trying to study, I came across this and sat there with tears in my eyes and a big fucking smile on my face.... and everyone else is wondering what the hell is wrong with me.
My best friend introduced me to Dream Theater a few years back, and all I can say is that I wonder how I lived without them for so long. This here is golden!
Welcome to the club! Happy to have you
Please, oh please make a full-length version of "These Walls". This part is sooo amazing :)
It's like my two favorite things of my teen years smashed into each other at full speed: Dream Theater and Final Fantasy. Unbelievable work; absolutely brilliant.
Im glad i wasnt the only one to think this
This... oh my god this... felt like an overture to my life. You made me realize how much DT meant to me through the years... and to you as well, I guess. This symphonic composition is SO inspired and inspiring. Great work Joseph.
Perfect for any DT concert's opening
truly become a DREAM THEATER
14 minutes opening is a bit too long, but I agree with you in any way
@@madforce1600 No way! We stand for three hours for a DT concert. What's 15 more minutes?
Oh Man... The moment of "These Walls" + "Solitary Shell" was one of the most amazing things that I heard in this last years. Thanks for this piece Joseph. I had a blast!
Definitely the best part of this piece
Definitely.
This here is why DT is GREAT. All the best parts compiled together. Beautiful
I've been listening to this wonderful piece of music over the last two days, and I just can't get enough of it. The only flaw it's the length: it should have been three times longer!
You are immensly talented, but the thing that makes your music truly great is the hard work you put into it. One can hear it in this video.
Couldn't have put it better.
OH !!! MY !!! GOD !!!
This is by far the best classical arrangement of Dream Theater ever made, including Dream Theater themselves! Thank you so very much! And may I add, the spirit of Portnoy (in regards of mixing and blending everything together) is everpresent!
Official DT Facebook brought me here. Aaaaaaaand it's awesome.
I was so amped when this came out. Its still a masterpiece. Hope there's still some way that it could reach more DT fans
holy crap this is world class
23 deaf people were jealous they couldn't here this masterpiece
Hear
1:38 About to Crash is one of my favorite songs but this orchestra version makes it sound like a 90s Disney movie trailer. I mean that as a compliment! Total twist on the song.
That Lost Not Forgotten... you got me man.
This is one the greatest things I've heard. Dream Theater's music translates so well into classical, and I loved being able to recognize all of the parts you translated over. I sent a private message to Mike Portnoy. I hope he doesn't ignore me because he needs to hear this and share it on his page!
Congrats to you, that's some great work you have done :)
Tell us if he replied! :D
Jordan Rudess has shared it on Facebook...
You know Mike won't reply as many of the songs used were from after he left the band.
Dream Theater saw this. They shared it on Facebook.
I'm sure Mike will appreciate it, but yeah the stuff from ADTOE will rub him the wrong way. I don't blame him. In my opinion if DT had written ADTOE without portnoy, then welcomed MP back to record it, it would have been one of the greatest DT albums ever.
I just found this and never has an intro sent so many shivers up my spine. This is amazing.
F**king amazing. Classical music is just metal before electricity was invented
No, Metal is Metal. Classical music still exists, and modern classical is more radical and extreme than the most modern Prog Metal.
The Mirror lol calm down genre-nazi.. I know and listen to a majority of the different genres ranging from groove/prog/metalcore/power/melodic.... AKA: it was a joke don't take it seriously
connor morrison But do you listen to contemporary classical? probably not.
The Mirror dude you have to check out ron jarzombek he has his own approach to 12 tone music.
Lindo compilado! Perfeita construção❤
please put this on spotify pleeeaase this is beautiiifuuuuul
Just beautiful. I'm not the first person to comment on this, but your treatment of These Walls was especially moving.
As soon as lost not forgotten started to play, it was the best moment in my life this year so far...
This is why RUclips was created .. amazing work, thank you for creating and sharing this masterpiece. DTFE!
All of this is amazing but the best section is the "These Walls", thank you for this masterpiece!
the passage from "metropolis" to "in the presence of enemies" is simply fabulous
Man this is awesome! A masterpiece! Congrats!! "These Walls"part makes me goosebumps.
Damn! I remember us exchanging messages via Facebook, asking if you could send me the sheet music so I could play it with the orchestra I’m in, and now another one of your arrangements is being used by Dream Theater themselves in their show... unbelievable! I wish you all the best!
Sounds like the soundtrack to the greatest film never made
Seriously, the orchestration you've made is completely awesome dude!!!
You should contact DT to have this arrangement released as something official and not just in youtube
This rules so hard. I did wish it ended back at Metropolis, but still, such an achievement. Hope you'll be able to upload the new medley you made for the new DT tour!
Now this is what you called The Astonishing.
Esto es genial! Felicitaciones Maestro!
Wow, this is absolutely stunning. Beautiful work. Such an incredible dive into the beautiful melodies and musical moments this band has penned over the years. And your interpretations are wonderful.
This orchestra songs must be played when they make the hall of fame
Wow, my friend. Amazing work!! Congrats... Greetings from Colombia...
MASTERPIECE!!! Cant hold the tears...
Wow! 0:48 gave me goosebumps all over… Great arrangement!
Fantastic. DT should personally thank you for this.
PERSONALLY!
I was wondering how many people realized that "Everything Fine" by David Maxim Micic uses the melody from "These Walls" like I did at 9:02, until I saw it is the most replayed part lol.
Still coming back to enjoy this masterpiece❤
This is absolutely fantastic!!! Dude! I made only These Walls orchestral cover but this... this is something else!
What a masterpiece! The fine base material from DT was beautifully represented by this symphonic medley.
Wow, this is astounding! I love all of the ITPOE references, what an underrated epic.
Man, the In the Presence of Enemies theme went just perfect in the orchestra! Love the way you put even parts of usually disliked albums like Astonishing
Respect, sir!
One of my favorite bits in this is at 11:30 where the part of Breaking All Illusions that follows the guitar solo is hidden underneath the melody of Lost Not Forgotten. Makes me wonder whether there's any other places where songs are doubled up like that.
I can't stop listening to this. Two of my favorite things together in one amazing piece.
uff dude... you made me cry A LOT, like "in crecendo", without drugs or alcohol ... this was/is THE trip. Thanks :') saludos de chile
the final arrangement it's so beautiful!!!!! i will listen to this the rest of my life !
This definitely is going to be played in our weeding!
REALLY!!! It's like Christmas is back!!! Can't stop the loop play!!!
Honestly, I don't know how much times I've listen to this. One of the most beautiful things I've ever heard!
Very well done sir! Waiting for a Symphony X symphonic suite ;)
OH YES!!!
There's already one Symphony X orchestral cover on youtube (that I know of). ruclips.net/video/yOcmuDkdEP4/видео.html
Was going to say the same thing 😂 A and you can name it Symphonic X Suite
Michael Benoit This the odyssey only, it will be great if he made a medley
Considering they're called "Symphony X", it'd have to be "Symphony X folk banjo cover", for it to make sense
12:22 magical
The best piece of work you can find on RUclips right now
I realized again their music is so beautiful.
YES YES YES!!!! This was a life changing experience
So...where is part II? Need it now.
*Mind blown*
Spectacular Orchestration Sir Joseph!
Gokilll soooobbb, mantaapppp 👍👍 I Like it
Joseph Stevenson you are awesome. I Fuckin love this shit. When I saw you released a dream theater symphonic suite I hopped on as soon as I woke up. Keep it up man.
In The Presence of The Exorcist pt1 (0:51)
Absolutely stellar.
I've been a Dream Theater fan my whole life (my family really didn't give me much of a choice) and hearing my musical journey condensed into this wonderful 14 minute suite has blown my mind. Thank you :)
Amazing!
Wonderful 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is absolutely incredible, amazing job!!

The way you arrange intro the dance of eternity + in the persence of enemies is genius!
What an arrangement !
Wow. Excellent suite. Riverside/Lunatic Soul would be awesome as well
Just hearing the pure orchestral element in DT's songs really helps me to appreciate how great of composers they really were. Great work Joseph, I would be amazed if you orchestrated Dream Theater's entire discography. That would be a dream come true!
just incredible the feeling that comes from hearing this. Inexplicable, the magic of feeling the melody of each album, the way they fit perfectly.
This is absolutely next level! Holy shit dude, you can hear your heart & soul in this! You should be proud! I got here from following the link Mr Ruddess shared!! Well done sir!
Let's now record it with a real orchestra!!Really amazing. Great work. And a a real challenge for any orchestra in the world.
Really woderful!!
Hi im from Bogotá, and love the intro in the actII or DT show, I hope you release that intro.
