And now, a RANT: Remember to bug your representatives to de-criminalize military weapon use and ownership. De-regulate importation of arms, parts, ammo and accessories. To do this: Repeal the 1934 National Firearms Act, the 1968 Gun Control Act, The 1985 Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act and The Hughes Amendment to the 1986 Firearms Owners Protection Act. Then, reverse the 07 July 1989 Presidential order by George Bush prohibiting foreign made military arms. Then we have the invasive background checks of the 1993 Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act- delete it wipe all stored data... etc etc... Reverse it all back to pre 1920 federal law. And hurry, we're not getting any younger.
No one is concerned for the dirt here, but thank you for yours. I was "into" electronic music in the early 70's well before disco/club/rave music claimed it and this "too fast to dance to" music fits just fine. There are other videos that feature different music or in one case none at all.
It helps cover gaps and abrupt changes in the nat sound track. It's a crutch (tool) commonly used in editing to create an unrealistic pace or flow. Since this is a promotional video for the Big Sandy shoot rather than a study in weapons usage or technique, music (IMO) is appropriate. No doubt the style of the music is a taste issue. Previously we tried speed grind-core metal but pys-trance works too. If you have some alternate music to submit I will be happy to consider it. Thanks for watching.
congratulations that is freedom, unfortunately here in Argentina can not fire an automatic weapon. I do not know what it is firing a automatic weapon maybe someday our leaders give us the freedom to choose what we want maintain that freedom at all costs greetings from Argentina
The shoot is open to the public as spectators. Fee is $25 for 2.5 days of watching the shooting. There are also full-auto rentals from a booth at the firing line flagpole. There are shoots twice a year, March and October. Next shoot is 25-26-27 October 2013. The shoot is held in northwestern Arizona approx 3 hours from Las Vegas or 3 hours from Phoenix. Google Wikieup, AZ for nearest village. Details are on the website, which is in the description, above.
Zama Rhal Better look to your own country before you criticize another country. Yours for that matter rapes and kills women for the most trivial matters. So, I would say your country represents oppression with its Caste system.
What a show, not your average 4th of July firework's. It's great to watch on video, could not imagine how awesome it would be watching this live. Thanks for sharing this video.
kraig downey wtf is wrong with your grammar? go to school first before go shooting.. you missed a comma, and "waist" is what is below your belly, "waste" of ammo is what you want to say.. god damn your 'muricans can't even talk nor write your own native language properly.
Aaron, you should have clicked on the MORE section of the description... "What is the large rifle at 5:16, 5:17, 5:18, 5:19 etc..." Answer: Swiss Solothurn S-18/1000, 20mm anti-tank rifle "What's that weird looking thing in slo-mo at 3:363:373:40?" Answer: British Farquhar-Hill rifle - with 20 round drum.
Good observations. Yes, many of the WW1 belt-feds are "water cooled", so a large metal tank surrounds the barrel and that is filled with 'coolant' (anti-freeze, oil water mix, plain water, urine, whatever). When you fire a long burst (100 rounds is long, this was 250) the barrel steams the coolant and if you crack the fill cap you get splatter. That was a brand new out of the box camera with wide lens attachment too. Next shoot is in 19 days.
Yes. Vice Americana did a 13 minute video about the Big Sandy about a year and half ago... maybe two years?. Drove Tom Morton and crew around in my M151A2 in the impact area.
Knob Creek is first commercial machine-gun shoot and they have a hell of a gun show. But no stunning remote southwest desert mountain views! And check the range distances and how many can get on the firing line... The Big Sandy can support out to 1000 yards and it has a hundred and fifty 10x10 foot shooting spots. Makes the firing line 0.25 of a mile long or 440 yards.
Taofledermaus was at October 2011 and October 2012. 2011 he made Saturday afternoon and got some limited slo-mo during the short time he was on site. He wasn't feeling well and headed home. We teamed up in 2012 where he got a lot of good footage and allowed me to use it freely. He has way more energy than I, and edits video faster than ENG field truck meeting a 6PM deadline. Nothing but good things to say about Taofledermaus.
Yes you can shoot your own rifles. Check website for details (description). You would purchase a shooting position on the line. They run $225 per person. You bring your own ammo. - If you keep your guns at home, you can enter as a spectator, $25, then rent select fire weapons at the rental position for about $30 a magazine. Hope to see you there! Next shoot is in 12 days
We will have something for the Phoenix SAR show first weekend in December. Should post here on 07DEC13 (Pear Harbor Day). Unless something bad happens.
Well thanks, that's what I thought too. M18 Hellcat will be making it's final appearance (from rumor) at the Big Sandy in a couple of weeks. Shoot is 25-26-27 OCT 2013. See it up close and firing- blow your hat off- for the last time. 2013 fall shoot of the Big Sandy.
Coolant! Early machine-guns surrounded the barrel in a type of water tank (water jacket) and filled it with water and oil to allow for extended firing- cooling the barrel. When it boils, it starts to escape from loose fill points. However, other comments have given the action a more human attribute.
Yes agreed. Music is so subjective. My apologies. It's use helps keep the pace and fills holes in missing natural sound or transitions. It's a way to edit quickly. And if I screwed up capturing the sound in the field, the music covers some of that. The two part 2009 video is missing the M18 Helcat, but has no music. Lots of gun with large diaphragm mic. Perhaps I'll post music free versions on Vimeo.
I think you are mistaken. At 2:50 I see a man under a sun canopy, firing a belt fed weapon mounted on an anti-aircraft mount at approx 4.5 feet off the ground and it's an electrically triggered ANM2 in 30-06. I can see the skinny 30 cal ammo can, not the wider 50 cal. Plus I was standing right there. I've only seen a couple of high speed 50BMG (Browning Machine Gun) weapons at the shoot over the years. Additionally as far as I know, Barrett Firearms Manufacturing out of Murfreesboro, TN, doesn't make a proprietary 50 caliber ammunition line. However, thank you for watching and participating in these comments. Never the less, it's a fantastic weapon eating through somewhat rare 30-06 at a very swift rate. Right after it's appearance in the video there's a slow motion clip of an M2HB firing, which is 50BMG.
cattin19722011, I appreciate that you feel passionate about the 2nd amendment to the U.S. Constitution and thank you for your participation, but let's keep comments reasonably respectful. Weapon owners should not allow their emotions to fully command their responses. Again thanks for watching and interacting with other viewers.
Roman, thank you for your concern and contribution to the comments on this video. From my perspective, a lot of things require risk to get the maximum from them. Cherry bombs, fuel-air explosions and business start-up all contain risk. You shouldn't try to contain or restrain risk but approach it with care. Like using sharp knives on vegetables or crossing a busy street. Don't abdicate your personal security or counter violence to "trained" professionals. They are not to be trusted.
Avtomaticheskiy Pistolet Stetchkina (APS) Known here simply as a "Stechkin," fires 9x18 pistol ammo, was imported from Poland as a dealer sample, post May 1986. Yes, not too common.
Merica gun culture: love the one thing that doesn't discriminate against race or religion!! Pity its the animals that fire the damn things that make the other humans on the planet so nervous!! God love Merica!!
I disagree. As I've mentioned on this comment group many times before, this is recreation. Nearly all the shooters train and compete in tactical combat situations outside from the Big Sandy. They would not mix the two as they don't compliment each other. It's like oil and water. As for the wildlife, they don't own the hill, WE do. They wander at OUR pleasure. However, nearly everything alive runs in the opposite direction early in the week. That said, thank you for your viewership and input.
No sir. $25 get's you on the property, able to watch and take pictures. You can rent full auto from a selection of weapons at the rental booth at the center of the firing line. To shoot your own guns you'll need a shooter's badge; $250, you will then have your own space on the line.
I think that's the belt-fed ARES Defense "Shrike" upper receiver for the M16. If it's not, it's someone else's belt-feed adapter for the M16. I'll have to ask Tony at the next shoot.
oooh finally a relaxing video...not as the shooters, but I can be content. I was angry before watch and hear this little masterpiece for warmongers. Good full metal Jacket quote at the end ;-)))
I used to listen to smooth jazz on RUclips to relax and decompress... until I bumped into THIS video.

It's in between Las Vegas Nevada and Phoenix Arizona in the U.S.A. Next shoot is in 22 days.
Just imagine another country invading. This is what would happen.
It's great, that they wouldn't hit anything,if they would act like in the material shown above..

I do not know what it is firing a automatic weapon

Big Sandy is on my bucket list.
Dad, I'm going America.
Just a gentle reminder, go to Texas or Arizona they have some of the best gun laws never go to California or NY
Jeremy Clarkson how about Colorado my friend?
who gets stuck with cleaning up the range?
Whomever says that they had the most fun. ;)
Хороший способ провести выходной день )))
Many of the states allow automatics. This event is held in Arizona.
That looks absolutely fantastic.
U.S.A trip and this will be part of it.
I hope the Chinese and Russians ever think they could come over here and win in a fight. We have more guns here than they do in their armies.
Fucking warmongers...

chefo280 You're right, it won with practice. Lots of practice.
This would happen if Justin Bieber gave a concert here on Portugal, we are pretty much 100% Bieber hater Population
The video would have been better without that annoying music! It drowns the natural songs of the guns!
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. OUTSTANDING Video. God bless the good old USA.
What a show, not your average 4th of July firework's. It's great to watch on video, could not imagine how awesome it would be watching this live. Thanks for sharing this video.

How could someone unlike this video
No sir. $25 get's you on the property, able to watch and take pictures. You can rent full auto from a selection of weapons at the rental booth at the center of the firing line. To shoot your own guns you'll need a shooter's badge; $250, you will then have your own space on the line.

Well said.
This the beauty of our country.
We need to guard our second amendment with our life to keep enjoying our freedom.

I think that's the belt-fed ARES Defense "Shrike" upper receiver for the M16. If it's not, it's someone else's belt-feed adapter for the M16. I'll have to ask Tony at the next shoot.
Alec Lochan - As far as I know, there isn't a Solothurn S18/1000 20mm in the rental booth. Perhaps you're bringing your own.
