Thankyou so much Andy! I spent my early teens in the first house you passed, Hog End Farm. Previously a crown farm and land, my parents bought it as an uninhabitable (in the modern day) wreck and brought it back to life. The old part of the house was built of salvaged ship timbers, not one of them straight or without peg holes or adze marks.I would walk along the lane after getting off the 342 or 343 bus often being momentarily being scared by a pheasant launching itself out of the hedge.
