I'd never seen the blue heron before. What a gorgeous place. I sure miss the amazing flora of Florida. And seeing it there too especially the iris! Great video!🐸🌼🌺🌴

Anytime you walk just two minutes and run across a snake, there is always another one two minutes away from that one in any direction you choose to walk. Achafalaya reminds me of an old Jim Stafford song "Swamp Witch" . . . Blackwater Hattie lived back in the swamp where the strange green reptiles crawl, where snakes hang thick from the Cyprus trees like sausage on a smokehouse wall. There the swamp is alive with a thousand eyes and all of them watching YOU. So stay off the track to Hattie's shack in the back of the Black Bayou."

I notice on my google map it shows up as Lake la Pointe. Its about 5 miles east of the Lafayette Airport. Take the gravel road north off of hwy. 353. Great little hike. Take bug spray.
