23:25 Why is he diving? He cannot know that there is a target request on him. It might make sense, if he wants to reload torpedoes, as reloading torpedoes in rough seas due bad weather is impossible, imagine the torpedo swinging around in the torpedo room on the crane trolley in the boat..., but periscope depth might be sufficient, if it is not in very heavy weather. I hope there is a rule that torps can be only reloaded submerged, as actually it was done this way.
It is odd seeing U-boats attacking convoys surfaced in daylight, even in bad weather. I cannot remember reading this in any story of the German U-Boot Waffe. I think it wasn't done due to the danger to be surprised by gun and AA-fire from merchants, or sudden attacks from aircraft. Also it couldn't be ruled out that the Brits would use Q-ship U-Boat traps in the convoy. There should be a rule when the U-boats going into the attack map, it should be only done at least at periscope depth in daylight. Also a possibility to wait till nightfall to attack during the night, which was the standard procedure for the U-Boats till 1943. Might not be possible on fast convoys. I also see no decrease in hit probability when shooting at longer ranges. The TDC alone is no wonder weapon. If it would be American boats with RADAR, yes. But with only optical assumption of the ranges perhaps there should be a modifier. A stadimeter was only used in some Type II boats. Why this was discontinued, I don't know. Hit probability was getting much emphasis by the leadership of the U-Boot Waffe. Short range and broad target was the rule. So wait till you can shoot at a big target at 90° angle. If not possible, prefer a smaller target short range broadside. Torpedoes are expensive! Don't waste them!
4:52 "There is no periscope, they did not spot him". But he's at periscope depth. Are there markers on the U-boat board which indicates periscope is up or down, if not, why is periscope spotting not happening?
I’m enjoying your play throughs Dave. Looking forward to the next one.
Dave. Love the playthrough
You can use a TP to disregard the Return to Base results.

32:13 You forgot to move U-boat W in the middle, 54:42 again.
