i just ordered tb2 played all the time in earlier days (tb1). I ordered the tb2 package. is that all i will need?
I know it too late now. But, the Guam raid doesn't use the 1-2 carrier known air strength table. Try the 3-4 carrier table.
When determining the attack angle of the torpedo, the only 0 degree ( head on or tail on) shots are the actual 0 and 180 degree shots. Anything from 1-89 degrees, 91 to 179 degrees , 181- 269 degrees and 271-359 degrees is considered a 45 degree shot. 90 is 90, 270 is 270.

By not checking for steam torpedoes during the day #4 and not checking for a convoy spotting #4, it makes it pretty easy for the U-boats to just run around and shoot stuff 😁
You're forgetting to do convoy search against your submerged, U-boat at periscope depth
The escort request marker does not stay where it was it updated to the latest information so it would've moved to your sunk counter.
Your second attempt should've waited another turn your attack when the turn markers reach 0 not 1
This clarification is on the GMT website. Maybe it will help you with torpedo angles. It seems to be the thing that people are having most trouble with. gmtwebsiteassets.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Wolfpack/attack_angles.pdf
Remember to check for each steam torpedoe during the day for a targeted request
Observation at 3:47 the markers go out on the angles but you add ships to the map outside of these angles. Shouldn't spotting only done between these angles? Obviously the crew have a 360 degree angle of vision but is this a game mechanic to narrow the crew focus to their main targets?
Spotting is in a square around the uboat. See the note in para 2, page 37 of the rules. I think that your 1st spotting isn't correct- the right-hand column of ships is outside the spotting range , and ships are identified that are outside the id range.
@@nwr99nwr99 Thanks, downloaded the rulebook and had a look.
Please remember on observation it works both ways. Therebis s chance the convoy ships can aee you as well.
In the beginning, when you did your convoy move, you moved your U-boat on the attack map to, but you forgot to move the three boats on the left two boxes down
Your angle of fire here in the beginning of the video is actually a good angle you're in the front 45 of the targets
You should probably re-read the rules on how torpedoes, and the angle of fire works the way that you were explaining it is incorrect
This doesn't seem to flow on from the Part 1 reshoot, or am I missing something? This is like a whole new playthrough.

First ASW draw and you somehow pull the only really bad guy in the pile. I thought I had bad luck!

No ASW check if there are no escort request markers on the map, read the words to the right of step 2 by page 43
I saw that in the rules after I shot the video. I was going to mention it on the next video.
You should reread your observation rules you you I'm not saying all that you can top row left and right
I'm not sure what you're saying I missed here.
@@davesgamingcave7862 look at the top left corner of the map feature not place a convoy ship. It also happened in the top left side you were first placing convoy ships.
@@Hobiecat181 I just saw that. I'm going to shoot a quick fix video to show my mistakes and draw and see about resetting the gameboard. I don't want to start completely over, but I do want to show what I did wrong and try to put some of this back right.
@@davesgamingcave7862 you're doing a good job for the first play through just keep plugging away. It'll get easier and easier.
@@davesgamingcave7862 simplest explanation....place your 4 spot markers 8 spaces at 45 degree angles to create a square for spotting....then after placing the convoy tiles, move those 4 markers "in" 2 spots to create a smaller square. ID all ships inside that square. Remember, the captain rotates the periscope 360 degrees.
On turn 8,9,10, each U-boat pulls a battle card individually to see if it enters

Submerged U-boats on the patrol map with a fast convoy, cannot move, they. can change depths but no move
Just to let you know, during damage control, you can move your wounded crew sections around not officers, which means you can move your light wound to a different section bow, or mid in your case
Crash diving cost you a tactical point
I will subtract that point.
Dave, your videos on 'Storm of Steel' have been very useful in helping me learn the game. I just purchased a copy of the game and l have a suggestion. I noticed that the Ju-87 cards tend to spin on the board. I purchased some photo corners used to hold photos in scrapbooks. I used one on the upper right hand corner and another on the lower left hand corner. It holds the card in place without obstructing the card or board. Again, Thank you for your videos!
You did a good job you have missed a few rules mainly in the ASW phase but you've got a lot of it correct. I would like to see how you set up your escort cup. I'm thinking you may have done it incorrectly, but we didn't get to see you set it up. Reach out to me if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.
I used the player aid for patrol setup, section 5. I put in 1 De, 4 C, 2 S, and 12 False Contacts. But now I see what you are talking about. I was supposed to take the original group, and draw 7 of those for my cup and then add 8 additional False Contacts.
I think I will restart this campaign. That was a pretty big miss on the setup of the escort cup. Luckily, I'm not too far into the game.
Can you start an ASW phase you should do all of your escort movement it's number 1 on the flow chart and move escorts from the bottom of the track to the top
I’m still learning the game, but I think you should have only drawn three damage cards on the depth charge attack that sank your u-boat because you were at thirty meters. The extra three cards, I believe, are just for periscope depth if I’m reading the icon correctly. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful.
Dave did it correctly. The number of attack cards you draw is determined by the attack number on the escort counter. The + 3 is added to that number if you’re at periscope depth.
@@daykl. His boat was at 60 meters so he should have drawn three cards for the Flower class escort, but not three more for being at periscope depth.
I think you’re looking at the wrong attack values. On page 10 of the rule book it shows the attack values. All flower corvettes have a surface attack value of 3, all corvettes have a submerged attack value of 6. Page 50 in the rule book describes the attack hit procedure. Here it is word for word…. Pull a number of ASW Attack cards matching the Submerged Attack values on the escort counter, plus three cards if the U-boat is at periscope depth; halved ( round up) if U-boat is executing an Emergency Blow. So I’m pretty sure Dave was correct and you may be looking at the surface attack values by mistake.

Thanks for the demo Dave. Interesting game, but I think I'll stick with the simpler faster "The Hunters/The Hunted"system.
Those boards could benefit from some double layered indentation....

You could have spent your last TP to re-pull that catastrophic damage card
When you're resolving attach on your U-boat you do them one at a time and complete them before going onto the second one so you pull that attack card and if there's any damage you pull a damage card and resolve it before moving on to the next card

How many turns do you have to stay in the approach boxes getting pummeled?
You cannot enter the Convoy until Turn 8. You roll to come in when you can come in each turn.
On turn 2 when you did it crash dive that should've cost you a TP
I'm learning a lot from your video. I'd say go a bit slower on the card pulls and explain the result. I'm a bit lost on those. Good work though ...

I wish only sales were not now I just don't have the money to to buy anything. Hurts to delete all those sale emails. Maybe some odds and ends for my miniatures but I can't see buying any $100, plus or minus, game at this time. I've got a few pre-orders in and I'll probably just stick with those for now. 8:35 Doesnt this symbol mean you have to DO a check at +20, not that you get a bonus to other checks? Wonderful video in any case, really help understanding the game to see it in action in such a clear way and at a good steady pace!
