Adrian was extremely gracious to sit for a Q&A during his recent visit to Sweetwater to introduce his Signature Parker Fly guitar. Here he talks about how he was discovered by Frank Zappa and other matters.
Now I know why I like Adrian Belew's style, because I'm a drummer and he started as one. yay!
seen him many times in Atlanta at a very small venue, he is one of the most humble guys you could imagine! I will see him every time he plays!
SO EXCITING! A HUMAN WHO DOESN'T SAY "Y'KNOW" 3 TIMES PER SENTENCE.
Hallelujah!
Or like, "like". Thanks for watching!
I started squirm a bit when he said he learned 5 hours of Zappa music!
This is an amazing interview. Thank you so much...
Adrian always provides a great interview
He nailed it on Discipline. That album is timeless cause the instrumentation and arrangement is so unique and yet so natural in the same time. The songwriting is also strong enough to make it something much more than just an interesting avant-garde record. It's not rock, pop, jazz or electronica, it's music. Infinite source of inspiration to me.
Just got Adrian's newest album "e" for Christmas. Awesome album!
Love seeing his facial expressions while he talks. Such a great guy!
Thank you Andrian !
He is awesome. Great man, great artist!
what a nice person. thanks
Wow. I love Adrian Belew, and I love Frank Zappa.
And somehow I never knew Adrian played with him.
Kind of mind-boggling. esp. with my few years of the RUclipsWikipedia game.
What a great talented guy
I liked his mention about discipline (2:34) in the process of putting his own sound ideas together.
For instance, the only time I could see and listen him alive, he was just playing the amazing Discipline themes within King Crimson, back in memorable 21.Aug.1982! :-)
Discipline is in my top 10! Also in there is Coltrane, Jarrett, Rush, you get the idea!
What a guy, you are great!!!!!
Genius!
The Best... Great man...
That multitrack in the background is odd, anyone know what is going on?
Adrian, you are out there and I love what you do - blazing your own trail. The Parker signature is like you so eloquently put it, "state of the art," however, I just can't see anyone buying that instrument. That is *severe* sticker shock to me. Peace.
a genius !
shit ! I really admire you Belew !
Didn't know he played with Zappa... I'll have to do some homework research about his career
@voidstuff Yep. King Crimson since 1981, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, and probably others.
Paul Simon,Joan Armatraden,9inch nails ,talking heads,The Bears.
Drummer like Zappa started
.. BUT THEY USED A REAL GUITAR..( 1:48 ) A FENDER. Adrian Fender is Best ! the Parker can fly away now...............
