  • Re-edited and added some new footage to my final Stan Winston School - Marionette Build/Final video... Basically finished the puppet and rolled video on this, in order to submit my final video in time. The puppet needs further refining and I need more practice with it!

    Very cool. I like the idea of the counter weights rather than springs.

    All the parts are sculpted, then silicone molds made and urethane resin parts hollow cast. The body, legs and feet are filled with rigid foam and the hands are solid cast...

      Eulogio Mesco - I've been building puppets for a long time, and built this as part of my friend Scott Land's class on building Marionettes presented by the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. The class is now available streaming (thru subscription to their online school) or as a DVD purchase. Search RUclips for @stanwinstonschool

    Nice work. What is that white material that the body parts are composed of? Are they sculpted or molded?

      Wow, I don’t know how I missed this comment (hard to believe I made this guy 5 years ago!!). The body parts were sculpted in clay, silicone molded and then slush cast with a urethane resin and back filled with rigid foam. I do this so it’s easy to replicate lightweight puppet bodies quickly. The parts or easily cut and modified with epoxy/epoxy putty.

    Hello, thanks for sharing this video, I'd like to know if you could tell me how to insert the head on a table puppet, because I'm working alone and the heads or is to rígid or it falls down... Thank you very much!!!!

      Not sure what you mean by a table puppet. If it's a marionette, you want the joints as loose as possible. It's controlled by string attachment points on the head. If it's a rod puppet, there's many different options for mounting and moving the head.

    anyone know an easy way of making the torso other than casting?

    • @MikeFX-Studio
      @MikeFX-Studio  6 лет назад

      Torso and hips could be made from wood... Heck, the whole thing could be made of wood! The casting procedure was done so that once you have a successful puppet body, you can replicate it and alter it easily, which speeds up the process when making other puppets!

      The body parts were cast using SmoothCast 300 resin (for the outer skin) and filled with Foam-iT 4, also by Smooth-on. Hope this helps!
